Great place to enjoy a quick meal. I had lunch special - Veggie + Tofu Tempura. It comes with Miso Soup and Salad. The service was courteous and the restaurant has good ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant.

Ehhhhh...not the best delivery sushi I've had, but not the worst. We ordered a bunch of standard rolls and they were all fairly mediocre. Everything was well packaged though, and they followed special instructions. Food came fast, so I won't rule out a repeat order if I'm in a rush.

Japan Sushi currently has 20% off their take out orders. You order at their store front's open window and pick it up there. I got their chirashi bowl: a bed of sushi rice with salmon, fatty tuna, tamago, yellowtail, imitation crab, sea bass, and sea bream (based on comparing the photo with google hehe). It also came with miso soup, green salad, soya sauce, wasabi, and a healthy amount of ginger on the side. It came to around $14 with a small tip. It tasted good but the sashimi didn't taste super fresh compared to other places I've had. I appreciated the care they took into the packaging. Service was fast and they even wrote a little nice note on the take out packaging which was sweet.

This is my go-to sushi joint in the Annex area if Sushi on Bloor or New Generation is busy; but it's not a bad runner up. This recently renovated restaurant offers a similar menu to any other sushi places in the Annex with comparable prices. The staff are friendly. The interior decorating is simple and fine. The washrooms aren't the nicest but they are clean and accessible. I have had many of their roles (dynamite, red dragon, rainbow dragon, And Theo boats with a variety of simple sushi) and the fish pieces are always large and fresh. Definitely worth checking out, you won't regre

We got skip the dishes, and the food was excellent. Great sashimi, and sushi rolls were large and flavourful.

You can really tell there's a lot of care behind every course. What stood out to me most was how calm and focused the whole experience felt--it made it easy to slow down and actually enjoy each bite. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I want something a little more special.

There were three add-ons (toro with caviar $25, uni with caviar $35, and caviar sushi). I opted in for the toro and uni add-ons. It was strange they give you the add-ons before any other nigiri. Everything was very good and fresh. Standouts for me was the appetizer, all three cuts of bluefin tuna, the lobster (by far my favorite), and the hotaru ika. I would've appreciated knowing that the omakase included or not included toro and uni before I decided on the add-ons but I don't regret it. It was a splurge night after all. Service was very attentive. Note that the dining space is very small. 12 seats around the counter and two tables. There was a very loud gentleman two seats from me who never learned to use his inside voice and totally ruined vibe. But that's not on the staff. Another note is that gratuity is automatic on the bill.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. It's not overly traditional, but it's easygoing, shareable, and comfortable.. the kind of place you'd come back to when you just want good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

We were seated in a separate room from the regular sushi counter. The chef carefully prepared each course in front of us. The Kaiseki portion was served first, and after each course was given to us one of the servers described each dish and its elements. The sushi courses were served afterwards followed by some desserts. They also gave us an extra dessert for the birthday celebrant. Each dish was really thoughtful and tasty, and the fish was really fresh. The highlight was definitely the A5 Wagyu beef course. The beef was so buttery and melted in my mouth. They even explained the quality of the beef and showed us a certificate of the beef's grading. It was worth the splurge for a special occasion!
