By far the best acupuncture experience to date & I've been pro-needling for quite a while. I came across Japanese Acupuncture last month during my visit to PHX while I was out walking around. I saw the sign, look it up on Yelp & got an appointment for the following day. Dr. Y. Frank Aoi aka "Dr. Frank" performed my intake as his assistant is working remotely due C-19, before proceeding with my initial examination. Over the next 15-20 minutes or so, he thoroughly asked questions while he prepared me for treatment. Not only is Dr. Frank well versed in the practice of Acupuncture, but he's also extremely tuned in to your body's makeup. His approach to finding the correlation of one's mental & physical balance is important to him. Once he's satisfied with the examination, he proceeds with the needling. The process was painless as I couldn't tell when the needles were inserted, not even on my head. Dr. Frank's objective to teach & treat patients simultaneously is his main goal in providing that healing touch both mentally & physically. He also speaks & lectures on the art of Acupuncture. I've embodied this key component of traditional Chinese medicine for decades, which has been wonders as an alternative form of medical attention. Frank is a seasoned experienced, very well educated professional that knows his craft! I was referred to him by a patient that had his migraines cured and my only regret is that I waited a year to finally make an appointment. Typically comes back the day after a massage but it's been 4 days and they did not return. I realistically signed up for a package of sessions as I know nothing is a magic one stop cure. I'm a believer. I'd highly recommend Frank for anyone seeking a solution without drugs to most health ailments. Frank will not lie to you and the experience is gentle, relaxing and surprisingly no needle entry is felt. There is no pain. In fact it's soothing and makes you want to doze off. Frank is so amazing and authentic in his craft! I truly love going to him as a part of my self care and wellness routine. I do blue collar work...I'm tall, leaning over and under cars all day for the past decade and constant muscle repetition has left some very annoying lower back and trap/scapula pain. I'd done chiropractor visits, massage therapy and while it helps, it was always very temporary and required constant visits. Off a recommendation from a friend to try acupuncture- I searched around and came across Frank's site. After my first session the first thing I noticed was his attentiveness. After treatment he had me walk around, move around etc and I told him I was much better, just a little pain still in the lower back. Now what I'm USE to hearing is "That's normal, just stretch, come back and see me and we can work on it more next time"...not Frank. "Here, sit back down" is what I heard. He spent extra time working on me, never once did I feel rushed to get out for him to cram another patient in. I've been there 5 times over the past year...just 5. He typically recommend 2-3 sessions. I did 2 the first time and 3 this time. It's pretty amazing what a difference I feel after just 3 trips and have since sent my sister and girlfriend in to help with their pains as well. His sincerity, genuine care as to if you're actually feeling better or not, emphasis on NO pain during the treatment and never once tried to push or up sell you on something you don't need has made me a client for life. What a great experience!! Have a fibroid in my uterus that was causing problems. After meds didn't help (and I wanted to avoid surgery) Frank was able to help me avoid meds and surgery! After just one session the problems I was having have resolved (it has been several weeks and all is well!!!) So amazing! He is very intuitive and Japanese acupuncture is not painful. Worst experience I have ever had at any place of business, much less any business person claiming to be a health care provider. Frank knows about acupuncture and acupressure. That is the best thing I can say. Aside from that, he is disrespectful, vulgar, profane, rude, and intimidating. His treatment area is not set up properly for the work he does, especially for female clients. There is no auditory privacy in the treatment area, so be prepared to overhear everyone's medical information and for them to hear yours. He banned me from his clinic after I emphatically expressed my concerns about his mistreatment of me He further banned me from contacting him. And he refused to refund me for the remaining appointments I had prepaid. Then he followed up by texting and calling 3 of my associates who are also patients and associates of his to complain about me and threaten to sue me. Find another acupuncturist, please. The torture I've been through wasn't worth it. My health is now worse than before, and now I have to deal with taking him to court to get my refund. read more

My father has Pulmonary Fibrosis and was put on hospice after being in the hospital for his condition. He had a terrible cough and trouble breathing. We decided to try some acupuncture as we were out of options with western medicine. Frank listened to our concerns and got to work. At one point he said he would stop my dad's coughing. He inserted a couple needles near his ankles and the coughing stopped. My dad relaxed and fell asleep while being treated by Frank. Honestly couldn't believe it! Went to Frank for numbness/pain in my legs after seeing 3 doctors. For the first time I felt like I had some control over what was happening to me. I've had two consecutive frozen shoulders and spent years going to a chiropractor, physical therapy and other acupuncturist. After two sessions with Frank, I was already feeling and sleeping so much better and he told me that I did not need to return. In addition, to my shoulder issue Frank pointed out some other concerns relating to my overall health, organ function and immune system. Frank knows what he is doing. Personally, I didn't have any major health problems when I came in. I still recommend you see him, but want to share my experience with pros and cons from my first and only visit: Pros: 1. Uses muscle testing to find points he needs to work on. 2. Experienced and great email/text communication. 3. Free parking, but you need to come into the office to get the permit. 4. Isn't afraid to speak his truth. 5. Integrity - he basically told me I didn't need to come back. I am a pretty healthy guy, but haven't had an acupuncturist tell me that. Cons: 1. Rate was a little high for time spent on the table. 2. The man needs a larger office. I could feel the draft when anyone walked in and could hear them talk. I usually go to acupuncture just to sleep on the bed and be on with my day. Couldn't do that here. Too much chatter. 3. Our conversation took us from US politics to unsolicited spiritual advice/Buddhist philosophy to Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. I would've preferred the old stick the needles in and let me lie on the bed. 4. I showed up (5) minutes late and had to wait an additional (10) after because he took two phone calls during the start of our conversation. He didn't seem so attentive. 5. No tongue and pulse evaluation. However, he had a unique muscle testing he did in lieu of it. 6. I had to lie on my back then face. Personally I would rather have one side worked on so I can catch some sleep. 7. Didn't sleep any better the night of. First time with Japanese acupuncture. I have been to over (28) acupuncturist that either practice Traditional/Classical Chinese Medicine or Five Elements. Not a fan, but it seems like everyone else is. read more

This past year I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I stopped working my full time job in January as my days were very unpredictable between the pain, the fatigue and even confusion. Alongside this I also have had hormonal issues as a result of having a hysterectomy 2 years ago which I thought was going to be the answer to many issues however things just seemed to get worse. I was put on medications for the fibro and told that my hormone levels were fine which I later found out my hormone levels were never even tested and the medications made me feel more fatigued and it was hard for me to hold a thought most days and to top it off did nothing for my pain. My husband suggested I try acupuncture as it had worked for him as a child, I must admit I was a little apprehensive but willing to try anything so I went off the fibro medications so that I could start acupuncture with a clean slate. He asked a series of questions and did a full body analysis, poking and pulling and was able to tell various things about my digestion and other things that I would never have thought to be relevant.
