Dr. Nelsen and his staff are super friendly and helpful. I'm not a very good patient and they all treat me great, even tho most of my fear is in my head!! I've been going to Dr Jason Nelsen for decades. He and his staff are always thorough, skilled and do their best to keep the experience pain-free. I like that they recommend actions you can take to improve dental health. Whiskey is a big hit too :). Their facility is pleasant, clean and seems to be state of the art. The only reason for four stars instead of five - They recently took a significant year over year 42% increase in their insurance cost. While I was shocked by the amount they do seem to be competitive. I just wish the office staff would have been a bit more forthcoming about the increase. 42% is not what they called a "slight increase". read more

I'm a 5+ year patient of Dr. Nelson's practice. Dr. Nelson has the best team of hygienists! I've rotated through three, but I usually get Hailey. I believe they do the best teeth cleanings and can clearly see the difference after a visit. I usually saw the same receptionist and hygienists so they ended up remembering me and my family. I have no problem going in for my routine cleanings every 6 months, because I have plaque issues due to not flossing everyday (I do use the waterpik every week). Think about all that junk under your gums just building up for six months. I plan to keep Dr Nelson as my dentist as long as possible and definitely recommend anyone try him out! read more

Worst experience ever!! Face was swollen and made appointment to receive treatment..Jason informed me that I had a cracked tooth that would need to come out which caused the infection. I was told that it was better to get the tooth out and start treatment for infection afterwards. This man stuck needles in my mouth and proceeded to pull my tooth even though I wasn't numb. It was terrible and I was in tears and in pain! His bedside manner was atrocious and he didn't seem to care until everything was over. The only positive in this experience was his hygienist who was extremely nice and very apologetic. Think twice before making that trip to see him!! read more

The dental service was great. Bad part was i went to pay cash because my insurance was maxxed out. Went and got a crown, root canal and another crown, and deep gum cleansing. Paid cash because my insurance was maxxed. Found out months later that the office had billed my insurance too. She wasnt even suppose to use my insurance. Took money from a root canal i got previously. I ended up owing the previous dentist $824. My main issue is they knew i was paying out of pocket. Why offer me rates, i pay them cash, them come back and bill my insurance? Then, the billing manager no longer works there now. And the new manager is basicly saying the previous manager should not have done that, put youre out of luck. Wth kinda business is that? Screw the good customer? Wow read more

After being a patient for 17 years, Dr. Nelson's practice did not have the decency to advise me that they no longer take my insurance. His practice notified my insurance company one day before my appointment that they are no longer taking my insurance. I was never notified. 7 days later my son went in for his appointment and I was again not notified that my insurance was not accepted. The only way I found out is when I received a large bill for services when in the past is was covered at 100%. After talking with the office manager, she stated that my insurance was not paying enough so they had to drop them. It is obvious that after moving to the new building the focus of providing good service has been replace by how much can we make. read more

When I think of going to the dentist now after being worked on by this guy I feel excited & I'm actually looking forward to my next visit with Dr. Nelson instead of being frighten & dreading going to the dentist due to past bad experiences with other dentist!!! I've been a patient of Dr. Nelsen for over 6 years, let me begin by saying I am very big on customer service and how I am treated...as soon as I open the doors of Dr. Nelsen's office I am always greeted with respect, dignity and a deep desire to provide the best possible care for all of his patients and all of our many, diverse needs...so Listen...when I tell you I always have a great experience when I have my appointments with Dr. Nelsen and his hygienist Michelle. The entire staff is awesome! Dr. Nelsen is always patient and he has a great sense of humor...don't we all need that in our lives! Dr. Nelsen is very professional, he takes his time to explain what needs to be done and provides valuable advice on what is needed to continue to have a healthy smile. When I leave that office I'm never left feeling unsure about anything! Trust me...it's not easy to find a good dentist, I've had some bad experiences with this one dentist in Charlotte in particular but I won't put him on blast, because one thing we all have in life and that is choices... so I chose to move on past that particular dentist. Now that I chose Dr. Nelsen, I absolutely love my new family dentistry and his staff! I highly recommend this dentist with no hesitation! Dr. Nelsen's staff is always very helpful and kind and always available to help! So give them a call and tell them Christy referred ya! There is no other dentist I would go to or recommend! My family has gone here for awhile and had all work completed that was recommended by this office. However, recently we decided to get a second opinion after being told we needed 6 cavities repaired and 2 root canals. After visiting a highly rated dentist, we were told that there were only TWO cavities in all, the new DDS had no idea we were there for a second opinion. Also, very unprofessional... Made us pay IN THE CHAIR! Unbelievable! Buyer beware of "procedures" that they recommend without getting a second opinion. Makes me wonder how much money was wasted on unnecessary procedures. read more

I had to go to this dentist for an emergency extraction. I walked in and was accepted right away. I was seen within just a few minutes. The front desk staff were very nice and professional. However, I felt like the doctor was very short, curt and rude. He didn't numb the site well enough and when I told him that I could still feel him poking the tooth and had pain, he very rudely huffed and said "how can you still feel that, I've given you a shot of Novocain?" At that moment, I felt afraid that he wouldn't numb it more but after numerous times of asking, he gave me another Novocain injection. I can say after the visit that I was relieved to leave his office and will never go back. I gave two stars because his front desk staff was very nice and the tooth is out and no longer hurting. I do not recommend this dentist, at all. read more
