this week i went to get my wisdom teeth extracted and honestly im really happy with my experience! they started off by showing me a video that gave me a ton of anxiety but by the time i was heading back to the room, one of the nurses was very very kind and understanding of my anxiety and tried her best to reassure me everything was going to be okay and it was! this has been on my to-do list for months now and i am glad doctor was very understanding as well and reassuring, and communicative if you have any questions. I waited for a month for wisdom teeth removal/referral appointment. I discussed to the receptionist on the phone that I am on an temporary medi-cal and they only provide me a paper with my BIC ID as my case was still in the process as I can't request a new one. And the receptionist told me that it was okay. I was so stressed for a month due to continuous infections and a new wisdom teeth coming in along with pain. I can't be on anymore anti-botics so it came to the point where I wanted to pay out-of-pocket to prevent any more infection and pain. However, the receptionist was able to make me feel validated and told me to wait for medi-cal as it was going to take 1-6 weeks to process my paperwork and she again said that she can accept my temporary paper. As the appointment came, I was relieved to finally get a consultation done to only find out that I drove 30 minutes to the place to just get denied because I don't have a "official" bic card even though I told her about my current situation. The receptionist was so rude, holding my paper while on the phone with another customer and told me "What is this? I don't know what this is? We can't except that because we need the official BIC card" very loud in front of the waiting room with people. How embarrassing for a new patient to come in and experienced this!! She still denied me even when that paper had my official BIC ID. She told me that I can not make an appointment until I get my official card! Yet other dentists was able to take my temporary paper and still give me a consultation. Wasted my time waiting for a month and they lied to me! They also charged $1.00 for medi-cal cards- how ridiculous. As a person who have a lot of health problems this year, I have never experienced this type of unprofessionalism and discreet of rudeness especially as a new patient trying to seek medical help from their office. The receptionist team are some of the rudest "professionals" I've ever talked to. If the dentist cares at all for their business they will have some training for their staff or fire the women who answer the phones. Going to the dentist is already very stress inducing for many people. Having to interact with these ladies upped my anxiety tremendously. Do yourselves a favor and call anywhere else. DONT GET YOUR DENTAL WORK DONE HERE!!! My doubts started when I went in for an evaluation about removing all 4 wisdom teeth. Everything is old and dusty, from the equipment to the windowsills. I know things get dusty, but this dust had built up over time. Regardless I went forward with the procedure and had 4 wisdom teeth removed. Since the moment I woke up from the anesthesia the pain my jaw was like nothing I had ever felt before. I took very good care of my mouth, following everything I was told by the "professionals" and recommended. Even only drinking fluids for 5 days. On day 10 the pain in my jaw was still borderline unbearable on my right side. I felt something was wrong and called the dentist office back to see if I could do a walk in for a check up to make sure my mouth and jaw were okay, they said no walk ins were allowed and if I showed up they would not attend me, and I would have to make an appointment. So I asked for the soonest appointment again just to check and take a look at what's causing my pain. The only appointment they could give me was a month away. I expressed my urgency as I was very worried about this pain, but I received no help whatsoever. I waited out my pain and after 3 weeks of nonstop pain, my holes finally closed up, but now I have been left with big permanent spaces behind my last 4 molars. Literally holes. Food gets trapped like crazy and it hard to get it out. My blood clots never popped or dried, I did everything right to heal my mouth, so I have to believe this was a cause of bad dental work. Save yourself or your family the hurt and get your work done elsewhere. read more

Today I walked in terrified. I've never had a tooth removed before and was nauseous at the thought of having a tooth pulled from my mouth. I went in for the X-ray and it was good. They sat me in a quiet comfortable room specifically designed for watching the informational film about the procedure. And then into the room. I wasn't made to wait very long after getting the numbing agent. They left me for 15 minutes while it spread and numbed and when I told them I wasn't confident that I was sufficiently numbed they took their time and better numbed me out. The entire time everyone spoke with very soft voices which was very helpful in keeping me calm. I was in tears. An emotional mess over the loss of my tooth and they were incredibly sensitive with me and took their time. I honestly wish I could make this my primary dental office. But I also don't want to have primarily dental surgery haha. So while I will hope to never have to return to this amazing office I will be in search of a primary that makes me feel just as good as they did today. Dr. Jason Sorensen was very kind and attentive to me during my appointment where I had one wisdom tooth removed. I was anxious and he made sure to spend time explaining every step of the procedure to me, and kept asking if I had questions or felt pain throughout. The entire procedure (two numbing shots and the tooth removal that didn't require any cutting or drilling) took a total of about 10 minutes, most of that time was just waiting for me to become numb. The actual removal was literally about 12 seconds. Very fast. Painless. I am very impressed with the dental procedure, professionalism of Mr. Sorensen, and the attentive nature he took with me. I will say, however, that two of the ladies working the front desk are not as professional as they could be, but are very sweet. That's why I give a rating of 4 stars. read more

I made a yelp account just for this review! I was referred to this oral surgeon by my regular dentist. Part of my tooth had fallen out on Friday and I called my regular dentist to see what I should do. He told me to tell the oral surgeon (Sorenson) to get me in the same day. I called Sorensons office and was greeted by a very rude and entitled receptionist. I explained to her that my dentist told me to tell her to get me in today and she quickly replied that they had no time. I asked if they had any appointments on Monday and again, without hesitation, she quickly said they had no appointments on Monday and would call me next week If something opened up. I told her that my tooth looks infected and my dentist wants me to get it extracted immediately before it infects my other teeth. She told me "Well if your tooth was infected, your primary dentist would've known and prescribed you antibiotics". Funny how many of these yelp reviews are about the rude ass receptionist. I took my business elsewhere and had my tooth extracted that same day by a different oral surgeon with great yelp reviews! I will make it my mission to not let any of my friends or family go here! I would have liked to keep my original 4 star rating however it has been a little over a year since I had my wisdom teeth extraction surgery and even though I followed James Sorenson instructions exactly on everything afterwards. My wound still has not healed at all. Yes the stitches are gone however my wound is still wide open!!! Food gets caught in it all the time and it's very painful. I had surgery yesterday and despite a lot of bad reviews which to be quite honest made me nervous I had the most pleasant experience in Dr.Sorensens office. Every staff member was very nice from beginning to end! I did not come across one rude employee and not to mention Dr. Sorenson himself is amazing at what he does. He is very knowledgeable, spends the time with you to make sure you understand everything that is going to be done before hand and makes sure to let you know what to expect afterwards. I'm glad my dentist referred me here. I've had two terrible experiences with this facility and the doctor. I've went in for tooth extractions, did not take long to get called in, as soon as I've sat and waited almost half an hour, the "doctor" was very rude to me, and an older white lady who was helping him. She had a nasty attitude towards me, and the doctor didn't provide enough anesthesia for the extraction, it hurt like hell, and all he said was "it is infected". He pulled it out while I was in agonizing pain, and was extremely rude when I left, not acknowledging me at all. I would never recommend this unprofessional facility. read more

They didn't bill both my insurances correctly and now I'm stuck with a huge bill.. But they were extremely quick to set up my apt and Bill the insurance co.. READ ALL OF THIS! SAVE YOURSELF! Just an FYI, I stayed awake for this extraction and my previous one. Side note: he encouraged me to take all 3 out at the same time because apparently He made up some story about how I wouldn't be able to later? In all reality he just wanted more money. Anyways, I got 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled here on February 9, 2016. Today is April 18, 2016 and my bottom tooth extraction site is still occasionally bleeding and still has a HUGE hole. AND there's still bits of my teeth deep inside the hole that he did not carefully remove. MIND YOU I have had my first wisdom tooth extracted (bottom left) at another wonderful location and that side healed up and was back to normal in a month. I am almost at my THIRD month and the bottom right hole is NOWHERE close to healed. Note: it is NOT infected, but it is definitely recovering from all the nudging he had done. Like I said, I was awake during the whole entire procedure of my first one so I am aware of what to expect. This time around was AWFUL. He was not sympathetic towards his patients what so ever. He told me to tell him if I can feel cutting because I shouldn't, I should only be feeling pressure. Which is true because the first time around I felt NO pain, just A LOT of pressure. SO, I told him I sill felt pain which meant he didn't numb me enough, or waited until it had seeped in. He ignores what I said and continue to drill and cut my tooth in half. It took him roughly a minute and a half to remove 1 tooth. And let me tell ya, that was agonizing HELL. The pain was excruciating. I can't even explain to you how it feels to feel all the heat and drilling and pulling of it. Absolutely traumatizing. NOTHIG LIKE MY FIRST AWAKE EXPERIENCE. The crazy thing is they were both impact teeth, but my first doctor was marvelous and I had an amazing experience. The reason I didn't go to the same doctor was because they do not take medi cal and this awful place did. I just wish dr sorenson would view his patients as people and not money coming in and out. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. I got my wisdom teeth removed here after being referred by my primary dentist. While preparing for the surgery, I was a little concerned that there was dust everywhere. That's not a huge deal, but a little concerning in that environment. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed by Jason Sorensen, and although I was out of it, my mom was shocked that I was finished 15 minutes. I had what I suspected was usual amount of pain (I felt like I had been punched several times in the lower jaw) but after 2 weeks I was still miserable and unable to eat. I went back and Jason Sorensen was dismissive of my pain and rude. He used something like a water pick (not sure exactly) to clean the areas with warm water (or possibly saline - not sure - I guess he was having a rough day and couldn't be bothered to speak to me about anything). He insinuated that I just wanted more pain medication, it was ridiculous! I was emotionally exhausted from being in constant pain and it was terrible to be treated that way. A week or so later I went to my general dentist and they found that on one side, the tooth wasn't pulled but just grinded down to a smooth bowl. They removed the smooth part and the roots beneath it. They removed some fragments from the other side. The experience was terrible. read more

I wished that I would have listened to the reviews on yelp and found another dentist to take my wisdom teeth out. I was referred by a family friend who also is my regular dentist, not an oral surgeon so she couldn't pull them out herself. I wouldn't wish this place on Lucifer himself. I had my wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and he prescribed Tylenol with codine which was fine though rather primitive and ineffective I made due because I didn't want to cause any problems. I had to take two at a time every four hours to manage my pain. Went back for continue pain on the right side of my mouth, left side was completely fine and manageable but I was having trouble "swishing," brushing, eating, rinsing, etc... Anything that had to do with my teeth caused absolute agony. The son, the younger of the two men that run the place, I believe his name is Jason though to be honest I'm not even sure. I have chronic kidney stones, chronic knee pain, and some other ailments that have caused me to have a fairly high tolerance to pain medication. I've had four kidney stones and there's nothing like having a constant, stabbing pain you cannot eliminate that prevents you from sleeping. I also has Asperger's syndrome and yes, all of this is listed in my chart and one of the common issues is over stimulation which leads to heightened irritability which as you can imagine makes pain a lot worse. He repeatedly told me not to get mad to which I responded with every single time, "I'm not mad. I'm irritated because I'm in pain and I have Asperger's syndrome. You're not doing anything to alleviate my pain so of course I'm irritated at you." He explained to me five different ways from Sunday that my pain was irrelevant and that if I just washed out the holes in my mouth I'd be fine. I had been religiously washing my mouth and taking my medication. I even made charts to help me keep track of it and even had a timer to help me remember to take them because I have Asperger's. I tried to explain to him that to even attempt to swish or whatever the hell he wanted me to do I needed to be comfortable otherwise I wasn't going to do it. I was essentially told that my pain is irrelevant and I needed to nut the hell up and deal with the pain of having my impacted wisdom teeth removed and I was essentially lectured about how I was irresponsibly handling my at home teeth care when I wasn't. He flushed my gums out with what he himself said was water which made me cry from absolute agony. I told him that I didn't appreciate the way he was making me feel and pleaded on last time because I was in so much pain and didn't want to have to find another dentist but I did find another dentist and the dentist and I both laughed at what an idiot he was while she provided me with adequate and human care. It sounds like this dentist office is fine if you're "normal" or "neurotypical" but from the reviews left on this yelp if you're "different" or a patient with special needs you're going to get the butt end of the fucking stick here. read more

Every single worker in here needs an attitude adjustment. I took my girlfriend here yesterday and we had a horrible experience. First off when they took us back to watch a video this rude nurse handed me her jacket demanding I take it out of the office because it reeked too much of marijuana and was smelling up the office. She definitely could have gone about that another way. Rude much? I felt really uncomfortable when when went back for her wisdom tooth extraction. When it was over she only had about 10 or 15 mins to put herself out of the anesthesia and they were mentioning how marijuana users get agitated and RIP out their IVs and they couldn't do her other two agreed upon extractions for this reason. None of this seems right because she has no marks or bruising from yanking out her ivs and she certainly would. Also she mentioned some of the things the nurses were saying to her back there and I really think they deserve a harassment charge. It's no wonder why they dont let anyone back there with their patients. They were asking if I'm her friend or girlfriend when what business is that to them? They told her fentanyl was in her anesthesia and when she said isn't that bad the nurse replied so is too much marijuana. Smoking is legal now for one and we have our cannabis prescribed medically. They definitely discriminate people here. For some reason we also couldn't pick up her prescription yesterday we are still waiting on the doctor's approval to the pharmacy as well. I'll start by stating that I'm the biggest baby when it comes to medical procedures, especially those involving my mouth and dental work. My first and only experience at Dr. Sorensen's office was yesterday (I was referred by my dentist to his office for wisdom tooth extraction), and I had an overall very pleasant experience. The office gals weren't very forthcoming in information about the procedure when I scheduled my appointment, and kind of give you the "number not a patient" feeling. I was also annoyed that immediately after my surgery I'm out of it, in pain, numbed and still in shock and she's asking me if and when I'd like to come back for my other two, should she call my insurance, what kind of payment will I use, asleep vs. not (really lady?! Can I just go home, and you call me later?!). Otherwise, I was very impressed with Jason and his procedural assistants. He was very kind and patient, he answered my thousand nervous questions and I felt like he was very honest in my options (I was considering getting two at a time versus all four). And, I as always do during any sort of medical procedure and dental work, I had a bit of a panic attack throughout the whole procedure. He would constantly stop and ask me if I needed a minute, if I needed more medication, if he was going to fast and he kept me in the know of what was happening, consideration for me I GREATLY appreciated. He sat with me a couple of minutes after too, to ensure I was okay and to see if I had any further questions. His instructions were very helpful and thorough as well. The office is very nice, on a great side of town, which was very simple to find. The temperature was comfortable, the x-ray was actually a comfortable process (the high tech machine that goes around your head), and the staff was overall very friendly. I loved the relaxing Planet Earth DVD playing in the waiting room too! If I do decide to get my other two done, I'll definitely be coming back to this office. P.S. There was a transgender male being served at the office while I was there, and treated with nothing but courtesy so far that I saw. I had 2 wisdom teeth extractions from Dr. Sorensen, and from my experience I will never return here again. Let's start with the wait times, if your appointment is at 10am do not expect to be seen until at least 10:30. Next, let's talk about the actual surgery. I am 7 days out and in extreme pain, I'm having symptoms of infection and dry socket, but the doctor keeps telling me I'm fine and this is all normal. This is NOT normal. He talks down to me as if I am being dramatic and things are not as bad as they seem... he has zero empathy and acts like I am a pain in his ass for coming back every few days because my pain is so bad I can't even sleep! Please do your research before seeing Dr. Sorensen, he has many bad reviews and pending law suits. I really wish I had looked in to him before my surgery, now I am greatly paying for it! read more

Two of three of my children have had extractions here. The 20 year old had four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Jerry Sorensen, any questions he had, they had the answers. My 12 year old had her dentist pull a tooth before, it was not a good experience for either of us, so when she got there she was extremely nervous, everyone did everything they could to make her feel better, after Dr. Jason Sorensen pulled it she said "that's it?" She didn't feel a thing! I really appreciated that they let me be in the room while it was occurring, two of her previous dentists do not allow parents in the room, I wonder why?
