I am a deep-tissue massage person - I do not like a massage that doesn't work out the knots and make a change worthy of the time and money invested in getting a massage. I actually do not get the point of most other types of massages. This place has, twice in a row, with two separate masseuses, offered great deep-tissue massages. From the street, the first time you approach, you wonder what you're headed into. It's a store-front location without decent lighting, a bit dingy-looking, without customary store signage, and advising twice on the door that it's a "legitimate" massage parlor, which it is. Sometimes signage like that freaks me out because I start thinking they .."doth protest too much", but it's all on the up and up and the place is clean inside. I go there with my girlfriend for couples' massages and we've both thoroughly enjoyed them each time.

I have been wanting to get a massage and we were already at Edgewater on a saturday. We were greeted with a smile when we arrived and was shown our massage room. I noticed the door had no knob so it looked like a "peak hole" lol luckily there were no other customers but us. We were told we have to pay ahead before services could be rendered and it was good they accepted cards. We then got ready but noticed there were no robes available or slippers. We figured we just go right ahead and cover ourselves with the blanket on the therapy beds. Other spas we went to usually knock and ask if we were ready before they come in however the two masseuse came back as we were still undressing, no knocking and pretty much just waited there until we finished and tucked ourselves in the blankets. Not much of privacy there unfortunately. The massage beds were prepped nicely and were already warm and comfortable. Our masseuses (never got their names since they didnt introduce themselves) then proceeded with the sessions. I had a good mild to medium pressure which is what i preferred. I even got a good cracking on my back which I was actually happy about lol i needed that. They didnt use any massaging oils though. Through the sessions, the ladies mostly talked to themselves in their language than to us although i didnt really mind but some people might. They did ask once or twice if we were doing okay though. The music being played was also in korean instead of just a mellow music or water sounds like other spas have. My husband usually falls asleep with massages but this one he was awake the whole time. I didnt really expect too much from the place though but i did have a feeling i wont necessarily dislike it nor would i exactly love it. It was an okay enough experience which did the purpose of loosening up my long overdue knots and i did feel good afterwards.

That being said, my $55 hour massage was great , much better than the $200 massage I got at SoJo last year. I was able to make an appointment for myself and my husband a day prior - it was a weekday, so I figured they'd have availability. I wasn't expecting them to have a room for couples, but when we arrived, they brought us right to a room with dual massage tables. We were a little early, so they got started with us early - very efficient. The hot stones felt great on my back. The reason I'm knocking them a star is the noise level. We heard a lot of background noise: the spa's phone ringing, employees talking and moving about. They did have relaxing music playing in the room, but it didn't completely tune out the noise outside the curtain. It didn't take away from my massage experience, though.
