How can this place get away with the pricing strategy that obviously is a way to rip off the consumer with deceptive and false reference pricing? We ordered takeout last night. I looked at a menu online. No prices on the online menu since I am not registered. The potatoes and sandwiches are referred to as "original" and "lighter". The calorie count is stated, and the "lighter" appears to be a little over 50 percent of the "original". I assumed that the "lighter" version would be priced less than the "original", as any normal/hungry person would assume. I ordered a "lighter" plain Jane potato and a "lighter" chicken Caesar salad. I ASSUMED these were portions a little over half the size of the "original", according to the calorie count stated on the online menu. We also ordered a regular plain Jane potato and a gallon of sweet tea. (Don't make fun of the sweet tea... It's hot in Texas!) I ate the food. It was decent. The tiny baby container of Cesar salad dressing was nowhere near enough, BUT you can purchase extra salad dressing! When I saw the receipt, I was shocked. $42.17! FORTY TWO DOLLARS AND SEVENTEEN CENTS for one "original" baked potato, one "lighter" baked potato, one "lighter" chicken Cesar salad" and a gallon of sweet tea. (please don't make fun of the sweet tea!) I went on the website and the "original" plain jane potato has 1580 calories/$11.19 and the "lighter" version has 920 calories/$10.09. The "original" chicken Cesar salad has 1050 calories/$11.99 and the "lighter" chicken Cesar salad has 510 calories/10.49, (for reference). I may be off on the calorie counts because the pricing/calorie counts are so incredibly confusing and not consistent on the menus that I found. The calorie counts for the "lighter" versions of menu items tend to hover around 57% -58% of the "original" size item. The price of the "lighter" version of the same item is about 87% to 90% of the "original" item. WHAT? I finally got into the online menu prices and the differences in "original" and lighter" calorically seem to be hovering around 48% and the prices are only discounted about 10%. The worst offender on the menu seems to be Amy's turkey sandwich. The "regular" price is $9.29, the half Amy's turkey sandwich is $8.29, AND, wait for it... the MANAGER'S Special Amy's half turkey sandwich and side is $11.49. So, if you get chips for a side, your half Amy's turkey sandwich is more than a WHOLE Amy's turkey sandwich and a side. I used chips as the side for this reference. I seriously can not believe that this company is getting away with this. Shame on you. Pricing should be transparent. Very clean restaurant. I haven't been here in 15+ years but I do remember the great sandwiches. Opted for the French Italian Cruz po boy. The bread was a little stale but it had some good flavor. I've only been to this place twice in 10 years and here's why: 1) the ladies at the cash register are not friendly. Today, I stood in line for 10 minutes (which is fine since it was lunch rush) so I observed that they were nice to other people but when I got there, for some reason, the lady treated me like she was in a hurry. 2) The most important thing for a restaurant, though, is the quality of the food. The menu is too big for anything to actually be good. I got three different items. I ordered two hot sandwiches and a salad. All three were terrible. Nothing is seasoned. The chicken salad had two pieces of chicken. The bread that comes with it was cold and stale. 3) This is related to #2. This is the biggest thing: When you eat there and dine-in, the food looks amazing when it comes out. I saw the salad while I was waiting so I ordered it. I can tell you that as a take-out order, it was nothing like what I saw someone else eating in the restaurant. Take-out orders are a sham. The ladies in the back preparing the food are laughing and having a great time---which is nice. But they gave me two hot sandwiches that were ice cold. The meat was cold. The macaroni and cheese side was cold. I'm writing this review because this place is so popular in Midland but I can't see why. Once again, the food here was absolutely fantastic. The service was excellent and the employees are always so great. It's always a nice quote spot to go and enjoy an awesome time and meal with the family. The salad bar we always get, but I forgot to get a picture of it. It's always fresh and so tasty, even my kids live the salad bar. Also, the tea's they have are always so yummy. We don't go anywhere else when it comes to freshness and quality sandwiches and salad. Next time, I'm gonna try their dessert. Unless you're an ice cream fan, you can't go wrong with the self-serve ice cream. Even the table busser was kind and even showed he cared about not taking empty plates over our baby in her stroller, but off to the side. The line moved quickly for the lunch run. The staff was friendly. I ordered a Pastrami with Swiss Cheese. They gave me a Ruben. Not what I ordered. The meat was extremely dry and had gristle in it. This had to be the worst sandwich for which I paid $13.00 plus. The Dallas Jason's on Greenville is excellent compared to this restaurant. The customer service could definitely be improved. My mother and I had a bad experience. When ordering to go, make sure you inquire about your food so it doesn't just sit on the counter top without being called out. My mother-in-law was in town and bought us dinner tonight at Jasons. We should've thoroughly checked our bags before returning home because we didn't get the sides that we paid for. We were missing 2 sides and the pasta salad was not good. It was old and sour. Had to throw it away. I ended up going back to Jasons to get the sides and they told me they were out of them. When I asked the employee why they didn't tell us they were out before we left with our order she said the associate was supposed to. They did not. Then she rudely told me to talk to a manager and pointed her out instead of bringing her over to me. When I walked over to her she walked the other way. I aways look forward to trying a new deli, and this was a good experience. The chili is what earned the 4th star. I had the corned beef liter portion with chips and chili. They have several option, like pastrami, roast beef, turkey, brisket and many of the classics. The soup options and the salad bar is what put them over the top for me, and this is why I recommend this place. They offer half sand which soup and chips, or just a single trip to salad bar. Another bonus was the free soft serve ice cream. If you like unsweetened tea like me try the black currant it is one of my favorite tea flavors. My only criticism, is the corned beef was less salty in taste than I have had at other delis, but this could be healthier option which is not so bad. Also they offer toasted sandwiches. I also wish they had sourdough but I haven't seen that as very popular in Texas I spoiled having lived in southern CA. I was born and raised here in Midland and always came to grab lunch at Jason's. I moved away three years ago and am only visiting for a little bit. So my parents live just down the street, and today I gave my dog a bath. He needed to dry off and I needed to grab lunch, so we walked over and sat outside. Staff and food was great as always! John, an employee, came out and gave my friends their meals and loved Rexton (my dog). He comes right back and brought him some bacon, it was so sweet. Twenty minutes later he came out again and brought him even more (lol) was also petting and loving on my fur baby. We love the freshness and the variety of veggies of the salad bar. We have been back many, many times. Today the salad bar was as good as ever but I give them only 2 stars because one could not feel clean in there with the floor next to the salad bar wet. The employees were standing around and just conversing while the customers were trudging around the very wet area. Given they had put a sign saying floor was wet but none of them made an effort to mop the floor to get rid of the water. Had to call their attention and they came to mop with a very wet mop so it did not help at all. The ladies bathroom needed attention too. Manager should pay more attention to what's happening in his surroundings so he can tell uncaring help what to do. I was disappointed with Jason's Deli today. read more

We were headed through Midland on the way to Nashville TN and decided to give Jason's a try. We walked in and saw they were preparing several plates for a large order. They took our order quickly and as soon as we sat down, waiting on out to go order, a football team walked in. Not only did they quickly and efficiently handle the teams order, they gave us ours in record time. The owner gave us free drinks for the wait but it was truly not a wait at all. Great sandwiches, doesn't taste frozen and reheated (it might be but it doesn't taste like it). Ordering online is super easy and fairly quick. I haven't eaten inside in many years but it seemed pretty clean inside when we went to pick up our online order. I'm a pretty picky eater and they follow the directions online perfectly. My "marinated" chicken salad was pretty ordinary but I got it without much of a wait , which was impressive considering how busy the place was. We've been here many times and always get salad bar because the other items are way too salty for us both. But after last week's visit, not any more, Almost everything on the salad bar was old, wilted, soured, except for a few items. The kosher pickles were actually disgusting, the brine they were in was almost mudd-looking from all the soft parts of the pickles that had come off the pickles themselves, just plain nasty!
