Stopped in for lunch on our trip to Ocracoke. We were immediately seated. The food was fabulous and the service was great. I had fried clams and they were very tasty. The restaurant had been renovated since the last time we were there and looked very clean and inviting. It had an informal diner feel and seemed to attract the locals too. Best food we have eaten while visiting the Outer Banks! We did get there just as they opened for dinner but they were fast & all of our food tasted fresh or homemade. My husband had the Seafood Combo with speckled trout & crab cake. His side was the salad @ cheddar mashed potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. I ordered the shrimp dinner with the salad & fries. Wish I had gotten the cheddar mashed potatoes only because they were so delicious! The restaurant was clean & had a sanitation rating of 100.0 from NC. Had dinner last night fasr service. Had the fish of the day, flounder. It was fresh, perfectly cooked. Mine was blackened. Not much heat, but tasty. Hers was grilled, also perfectly cooked, and tasty. We both had a salad and the zucchini with parmesean. It was cooked with a marinara sauce and had grated parmesean on top. Delicious. This is my 6th annual pilgrimage to Ocracoke, and I've always liked this place. Great lunch spot - great variety of sandwiches, very kid friendly. The staff are friendly and efficient. This summer of Covid, they are requiring masks to pick up takeout orders, and they have limited indoor seating, spaced out safely. Our food this time was on point. I had the fried shrimp platter, and they were perfectly crispy, not greasy. They also have vegetarian options including pizza, pasta, and Beyond burgers. So we get to Okracoke and I'm craving a salad. No place seems to specialize in salads on this tiny island so my partner suggests we try Jason's which we could walk to from our motel. He orders the fried shrimp and I get the house salad. Now, you get a choice of meat (if you want meat) to put on your salad. Our waiter suggested I get the steak which listening to him was one of the best decisions I could make that night. It melted in my mouth like meaty chocolate. The house balsamic paired great. They didn't overstuff my salad with onions either which I always appreciate. Even the mushrooms were packed with flavor. Thank you waiter for that fantastic suggestion! (Wish I was so much better with names.) My partner's shrimp was legit fried and not doused in so much breading the shrimp couldn't be tasted. My only regret was not getting dessert. My mom and I stopped for lunch at Jason's last week on the recommendation of my uncle, and oh what a delicious lunch it was! We walked in & were told to pick a table & they'd be right with us; we got settled in & the waitress came to our table very quickly. She was very friendly and told us about the specials of the day, and recommended the French Dip, which we both decided to have. Ohhhh what a tasty sandwich! Plentiful melted cheese, a healthy portion of meat, soft yummy bread and nice warm au jus..ooooh la la! Also served with the sandwich were a dill pickle spear and some potato chips, a nice accompaniment for an awesome sandwich. It's a small-ish mom and pop diner style place, so don't expect fine linens and cloth napkins. But these types of places are often where you can find the best food, and the staff was very friendly; it's just a comfortable, homey place to grab a meal. The only down side to Jason's was the parking lot; there were potholes so big you could lose a toddler in them, and on a rainy day such as the day we were there, navigating the lot was a perilous feat. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! There is no way to say just how pleased we were with Jason's, the super wonderful staff and the food. Stopped in after a quick trip to Ocracoke to see the lighthouse and the area when we needed lunch. It was one of the few restaurants following COVID-19 precautions and we appreciate it! Autumn on Ocracoke Island = is anyone open for lunch? Fortunately Jason's opens at 11:30. Ordered the Chicken Parmesan, with side salad and sweet tea. Salad included mushrooms, onions, salad sized tomatoes and cucumber slices. The Chicken Parmesan was served over angelhair pasta. My previous experience with Jason's has been carry-out pizza in previous years. Good for that if you are worn out from the beach and not eager to get back out. It was pretty good, but not spectacular...just good with a decent variety of toppings from which to choose. A couple of nights ago my brother and his wife and I went in to dinner because he wanted anchovy pizza. Let's just say he was alone in this quest. He was thrilled with his choice. I got the scallop special. They were grilled and yummy! It was a large portion which I initially thought I couldn't finish...but I managed it! My family stopped here for lunch while visiting Ocracoke for the day from Avon. We hadn't been to Ocracoke in about 8 years, so we were not really sure what to expect as far as food. We had rented a golf cart from Ocracoke Island Golf Carts and the friendly guy behind the counter recommended Jason's, so I figured we would give it a go after discovering the other restaurants we were interested in were not air-conditioned. I am so happy we picked this place! Cozy, local feel and simple but delicious menu. I had a salad with grilled shrimp; both were very fresh. Two people had the pulled pork which they said was tasty. The others had a cheesesteak and a crab cake which were also enjoyed. Jason's also offered pizza which seemed to be popular. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly and fast. It's so difficult to avoid poor food on Okracoke, and the restaurants tend to run in cycles. Not Jason's. We've eaten here several times over the last 5-10 years and the quality and service are solid and the prices very reasonable for a vacation/tourist spot. It's such a shame I'm giving this place 2 stars. We ate there twice in 2 days, the First being a fantastic experience. The food is wonderful, pizza and subs are delightful. Our second Trip, though, was ruined by God awful service from the most rude waiter I've ever seen in my life. He was a tall guy, 5 of clock shadow on his face, arms and legs littered with tattoos. His personna led me to believe he was a manager of sorts. Nonetheless, he had a terrible demeanor, never made eye contact, monotone voice, but the dagger is how rude he was. He looked at us and spoke to us as if we were ignorant tourist. Everything that was said was with dumb founded eyes that made us feel like he had declared us an annoyance. You don't come to the outer Banks to feel like the hospitality is that of a northerner. Quite possibly the rudest person I've encountered on this island. Sadly, we won't be able to enjoy the delicious food here any longer because of this young man's poor attitude. read more

Very disappointed. Decided to try it for our anniversary lunch based on reviews. Server was rude and unfriendly and more concerned about sitting in the booth behind us talking to her coworkers. Ordered the blackened tuna. It was awful and I only had one bite. She did not check with us again until we were ready to go. She asked if I wanted a box and I told her the tuna tasted bad. She just said okay and gave us the check. Unbelievable. We paid and left. Had wonderful experiences at other establishments on the island over the years. All the reviews were right...the outside and inside atmosphere isn't inviting but the food is great! Hubby had pesto shrimp pasta and said the shrimp was the best prepared on the island but the pasta needed to be drained more so the pesto flavor came through and didn't get watered down. Daughter had chicken Parmesan and that was really yummy. I had daily special of scallops which I got blackened...too spicy for me. My sour cream dill mashed potatoes were outstanding and the collard greens were good with vinegar added. They brought all of us garlic bread which was really tasty...not sure if it's homemade or not. It was also interesting to see how many locals came in and picked up pizza to go. Must be the local pizza favorite! read more

I've eaten here a few times and the food and service are good. I usually have a turkey sandwich or pizza -- both of which are what you'd expect and reasonably priced. The place is laid back and it's very "come as you are". This includes the staff. What I REALLY want to say though, is that this place does NOT serve dolphin, as in the mammal. They serve dolphin fish, which is mahi-mahi. I was kind of unsettled by Lenka's review -- I think she may have misunderstood what they were serving. But yeah, don't stay away from the place because you think they'd serve you Flipper. Not the case. read more
