This place is amazing, pizza is delicious and perfect. The bruschetta was great. But the greatest of them all was the service, Molly was an absolute delight, you can tell she loves her job. Salad, cannoli and sub par pizza x2 for $65. I'm looking at the good reviews and the pictures do not look like the same pizza we got. It looks almost like premade rounds of pizza dough - and tastes like microwaved pizza. The top was dry sauce broken apart. Good reviews show fresh buttered on top pizza. This is definitely the best pizza in the bottom half of OBX. (I say bottom because I have personally never stayed up north!) My husband is low carb and he enjoyed their cauliflower crust meat lovers pizza. Our daughter had a personal Hawaiian pizza and crushed it. I got a white pizza with olives and mushrooms + the arugula salad. It was soooo delicious. Only thing I will mention is I had to pick out all the candied nuts on the salad because they were Spicy! Good place for pizza and spinach salad but don't order chicken parmesan. Has always been our go-to place in Avon but what a disappointment tonight. The chicken parmesan was 95% overcooked angel hair pasta with very little sauce and maybe 5% chopped up chicken. Probably not even 3 Oz of chicken. What??!! I thought we got the wrong order, had a hard time finding any chicken. Very bland, not up to what we always we always came to expect from Gidgets. I hope they improve or we won't be back. read more

Gotta give a shoutout to Gidget's Pizza on our way to Ocracoke. The pizza we all decided on was build your own. The pizza was as delicious as any pizza back in NYC or Connecticut that is family own. There is a lot of love in this pizza. What a find way out here on the OBX and it's a really nice restaurant. The service was great. The ambiance was low key to medium chatter. Tony and I went to this lovely little eatery located in Avon, NC on the Outer Banks with my daughter Noel and her boyfriend Adam. This little place was amazing, it was a little dead for 3pm but we must have missed the lunch rush and beat the dinner rush. We had only been on the island for a few hours and already had a couple drinks in us..so we just wanted some food. It was Tony's birthday so I let him choose and he choose PIZZA!!! My little Italian boy!!! The food was very good! I ordered the All Meat Pizza and Noel ordered a Greek style pizza and we shared (of course) and we had our drinks.. I went with tea with lemon and lime, Tony had some beer, AS USUAL!!! Adam and Noel enjoyed a little vino, celebrating their first vacation to the beach as a couple...so sweet!!! Due to Yelp, we also was treat to some FREE bread sticks with our check in...thanks you Yelp.com app...love it when I am rewarded for doing what I love to do...try new places and EAT!!!! I would definitely recommend this great little Italian eatery...it is very nice, clean and friendly staff. I would definitely eat here again when visiting the Outer Banks!!! read more

The one star was for the service, being in the service industry it is important to us.... Not impressed by the service. Walked in at 8:03 and was told even though they closed at 8:30 they were no longer sitting people but if we still wanted food we could order to go at the register. Then she just walked away no offer of a menu and proceeded to drink her drink at the counter. First request for a menu was ignored. While I am ok ordering food to go, I would like to be treated and spoke to with courtesy. I get being tired, but their posted hours are open until 8:30. If you don't want or need our business again while we are here the next few weeks thats ok there are other people that do, now for the food: The pizza is great!! 5 stars for all of us. The bread sticks were tasty and cheesy, a little tough and chewy The loaded fries are ok, they were just good. Not what I would go back for The chicken Alfredo was ok, again not what we would go back for The best part for all of us was the pizza. We popped in here during our most recent trip to the OBX. I really like the other pizza place in Avon (Nino's), but it wasn't as good this time, so off we went to try Gidget's. This restaurant used to be called Toppers, but from my understanding, it's still under the same ownership. Gidget's is located in a small strip mall with a few other shops, restaurants and a grocery store. We came mid-day in early May, the restaurant was probably 1/2-1/3 full and service was very slow. I'll give them a pass, to be fair, I think there was only one employee servicing the dining room. I noticed that there was a yelp check in freebie for garlic bread with cheese, OMG, this was the highlight of the meal!! These were super tasty and delicious, I would order them again. My pizza was average, it was not a NY style and reminded me a lot of the thin crust pizza I used to get at the chain Pizzeria Uno. It was fresh and tasty though. My husband went for an Italian entree that he enjoyed. Overall I'd give this experience about a 3.5 stars. I don't know how the wait usually is, but I wouldn't want to sit at a table waiting with young antsy kids. read more

I have heard good things about Gidget's meatballs but since we were eating outdoors, I ventured a little further down the menu to the paninis. I ordered the decadent double bacon and triple cheese panini. Instead, I was served the prosciutto and cheese. The restaurant was busy with takeout orders so I decided to just eat what I was served. Wrong move on my part. I literally couldn't get past the first bite. The combination of prosciutto, cheese and fig jam just didn't work. My dining partner ordered the portabello mushroom panini. It should have been called a roasted red pepper panini. There were three thin slices of portabello, a couple thin pieces of artichoke heart and then a great big fat hunk of roasted red pepper. The balance was so far off the mark that the sandwich wasn't enjoyable. A nondescript bag of potato chips accompanied the paninis. Even the pickles were missing. Because of my dining partner's previous experience at Gidget's, I did add a star to my review. Since dining choices in the area are rather limited, I will probably come back but will try the spaghetti and meatballs and steer far, far away from the sandwiches. read more

Never going back. Never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. It was as if "our kind" wasn't welcome there. We came in and the restaurant was bustling. The owner came over and told us there was no seating available. No " it will be 15 mins or can I take your name". It was as if she wanted us to leave. It wasn't near closing either. We asked if we could put our name down and she agree and said it would be 30 mins. Luckily a spot opened up quickly. All was good. She brought us wine and drinks. Took our order. Then never spoke to us again- she was our waitress. The kitchen staff brought our food out. My order was wrong. No big deal - I just didn't want to be up charged for something I didn't order. I figured when they checked on us, I'd make sure to make them aware of the cost difference. Never was spoken to again. No refills, no how was your meal, would you like anything else. She repeatedly came back and stood beside us talking to locals next to us but never once turned to check on us. I did hear her say they were surprised so many out of towners were there this weekend as if it bothered her. This is probably why we were treated this way. We inconvenienced them with our presence. Won't happen again! To be fair the pizza and salads looked good. The wine was good. We both had pastas and were just ok. But the price was fair for what we got. read more

Quick, friendly service and delicious food! Definitely try the cheese and bacon fries, they were amazing. Kids loved the pizza. We tried the antipasto salad and spinach salad. Highly recommend both of them. The antipasto salad had a lot of meat/cheese and was a really generous serving. Spinach salad with the hot bacon dressing, you have to try this dressing!! Every time we come to OBX we must get Gidget's pizza. This trip was no different. We got the Maui Love pizza and the Sonoma along with a side of mozzarella cheese sticks. I absolutely loved the Sonoma. The white garlic sauce was so good along with the sweetness of the dried figs and saltiness of the prosciutto. It was amazing!! My husband and son loved the Maui Love pizza. It was full diced ham and pineapple pieces. There were no bare spots. My youngest got the cheese sticks and devoured them quickly. Yet again we were impressed with Gidget's tasty pizza. We highly recommend to anyone looking for GOOD pizza. read more

The pizzas were reasonably priced, prepared in a timely way and were fine ... although not anything special. If you have only modest expectations, the traditional-style pizzas from Gidget's will meet them. You could do a lot worse on Hatteras. read more
