Ate here last night. Had heard mixed reviews from a friend of mine who comes to Ocracoke annually, but we took a chance on Sushi Night and it was incredible. There wasn't much to choose from -- basically tuna and salmon -- but it was the freshest sushi I'd ever eaten: literally caught that morning. My mom and son ordered the pizza instead and it was likewise very good -- thick, very cheesy, delicious. Again, there's a lot of other food on the menu and maybe it's not all as good as what we had. But the sushi was memorable and the pizza quite good (and a few bucks less than the dedicated pizza joint on the island). NOTE: Sushi is only available on Tuesday nights from 5-8, but it was all gone by 7pm the evening we were there, so get there early. read more

A group of six of us walked in and was immediately greeted. We were seated immediately at bar and was told we would relocate to a table as soon as one opened: never did. Which was fine because we were served very quick. We got two pizzas. They were good, I wouldn't say exceptional. I gave this a five star because the service was very quick and very very friendly. read more

I had the fish of the day sandwich (Spanish Mack ) with the soup of the day (portuguese fish soup)...you could tell it all was fresh and the people making it took some pride My daughter had the pizza...it was delayed pretty bad, however the server cared and gave her a salad for the wait (I thought that was great service :) This place is worth the visit...I will be having dreams of my blackened Spanish Mack sandwich for a long time .....moderate priced, seat yourself in wood floor- wood chairs...great dining experience! read more

Jason's Kicks Ass! First off they are one of only 2 "First Class" restaurants on Ocracoke according to the Ketchup Bottle Rating System (first class serves Heinz Ketchup) Pizza is best on Island! All Italian Dishes are awesome like my full blooded Italian Grandmother would approve. And the portions and price are.... (Don't change after reading)... Large and fair! And the big sweaty dude chef in the back busts his ass to cook for you the way it should be. Blonde Allison hostess is always a joy because my own child's name is Allison so they always chatty chat about having the same name. Stopped here on our way out of Ocracoke. The server assisting us was engaging and patient with our entourage (my four children and three adults ...and she was a Buckeye, which is always a good thing. The food was satisfying and tasty. The icing on the cake, however, were the Parmesan-pesto potatoes. Mercy. I would go back for that and I am not much on them! DO NOT come near this place if you are looking for anything apart from decent TAKEOUT pizza. Even then look elsewhere. While some select staff members were kind to interact among, the supposed owner of this run down joint was outright rude and inattentive from the moment we sat ourselves down, as if already not expecting a tip.... After countless snide remarks, messed up orders, and overall projected misery; a completely unmentioned 18% tip was added to our party of five. After asking for a manager, we were presented with a young, inattentive, and unapologetic individual, presumably a scapegoat for the depressing owner. Who proceeded to argue for the supposed normality of the undeserved tip, suggesting increased self awareness on our part upon returning. Doing so guaranteed no tip. Never again will I return to Jason's. read more

This place has all these great reviews and I'm not sure why. The food was not anything great just pizza joint food. The guy that waited on us ( Guy with nerdy glasses). Was down right rude. My son asked him a question and he just ignored him. They automatically added a tip, just circled it, when I asked. The waiter said that was cause we had 5 people. (2 adults and 3 Kids). Seemed like some type of scam. The other business asked about our experience because they referred us. When I told them they stated sorry we though it got better and told me that was the owner. I've been coming to Ocracoke for many years. We've always made it a habit to stop in for jalapeño poppers and pizza or one of their sandwiches. However, after this weekends visit, I'm compelled to write this review to share our pizza experience. We ordered a pepperoni pizza which came out pretty quick. The toppings were fine. But, the pizza bread base was much like chewing cardboard, if one can imagine the texture and consistency that would be like. Just to be sure we weren't over exaggerating, we tried yet another pizza there just for a second chance. We aren't writing this to be of a mean spirited nature. It's only fair to give Jason a chance to hear the feedback and make adjustments to remedy the situation. Either he's changed vendors for the Pizza dough or the vendor changed something without letting him know. We will try again next year, if it's still around to try. read more

The food was good, but the waitress was terrible. Everyone recommended this place and we won't be coming back for the very reason of the blonde waitress. She didn't give us the specials, no clue what the fresh fish was, slammed our drinks down at us and never once checked on us. Stopped in for lunch. It was crowded and it was obvious that it is frequented by a lot of locals. COVID has cut out some of their tables, but they are doing the best they can. I ordered the hippy wrap and my friend got the fIsh sandwich (flounder) and a side of fries. Food was out in minutes and very good. I wasn't impressed with the food or atmosphere. I got the crab cakes and they get a 6 out of 10. I did enjoy the collards. They had a nice clean flavor. My son enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs. The beer selection was very weak and pretty much just served outdated beer trends. read more

This is by far our favorite place to eat on Ocracoke. Reasonable prices and each food item is good. We don't know what to have first when we arrive on Ocracoke. Jason makes great meatballs, pizza, chicken wings, Italian subs to name a few. He makes specials and you just can't go wrong!! The service is excellent. Call for takeout for your beach lunch. Oh and the spinach dip and flatbread!! Yum!! The locals eat here regularly so you know it's good. read more

We went here for lunch after driving down from Kitty Hawk. When we got there, right about lunchtime, there were people already seated, but it wasn't crowded (but it quickly filled up--not completely full, but this was mid-week in mid-June). We were told to choose any seat and that the waiter would be right with us. The decor was very casual, kind of diner like, but with a down home feel. The waiter was dressed casual, in a t-shirt, so that might put some people off, but this is the beach, afterall. One plus--it had air conditioning, which many of the beach restaurants, especially in this town (according to reviews I've read) don't. The waiter came quickly to our table and took drink orders (and kept the tea filled, filling the glass as he passed by, each time it got ot 1/2 or even less. 2 in our party chose the grilled fish sandwich, one the fresh tuna sandwich, and I chose the special of the day, the crab cake sandwich. When our food arrived (fairly quickly), I was disappointed to find that the crab cake was deep fried, not broiled, but that was my fault for not asking. I was further disappointed that the texture inside the fried part was gummy or doughy, as one reviewer stated and the flavor was nothing special. It also had a lot of filler. I've had better crabcakes from the freezer section of the grocery store. Based on my crabcake, the restaurant would get a low review, but everyone else said their food was really good (I almost got the grilled tuna sandwich and wish I had). One in our party found a lemon wedge under the melted cheese in the middle of his sandwich, though, but once he took it out, he said the sandwich was good. The sandwiches were served with a pickle and chips--the chips came in an individual bag. If you're expecting fancy, don't eat here. If you want a quick and fairly inexpensive meal (our lunchtime sandwiches were $9.50-$10.50 each) this restaurant fits the bill (just don't order the crabcake). read more

What can I say, I wouldn't eat there again. I took 4 teens with me and the food was definately overpriced for what you get. The total bill for lunch for the 5 of us was almost $60 including the manditory 18% tip (which I understand they have to considering I never would have left that much of a tip for the poor service we received). The total order was one medium pizza, one chicken alfredo, one spaghetti and one (extremely horrible and cold) barbque sandwich with previously frozen (not fresh cut) shoestring french fries. The pasta sauce on the spaghetti was much like jar sauce. The pizza looked ok. I definately would not recommend their "eastern" NC barbque. It was not eastern NC, had no flavor even after all the texas pete I poured on it. They served it with something resembling cole slaw (which was terrible, I spit out the only bite I took) and a side of tomato based sauce. Everyone knows eastern barbque is vinegar based not tomato based. To top that off, it is the only place I have ever been that makes a "patty" of the barbque and tries to fry it to warm it up. Although it was not warm. Needless to say I went away hungry since I didn't eat more then one bite and the waiter was no were to be found til the bill needed paid. Would definately not recommend due to the poor service, high prices and availability of much better restaurants on the island. read more

Great place to eat on Ocracoke Island. We were visiting for the day from our vacation house in Hatteras. We were looking for a place to eat before hitting the beach. The service was great and the food was even better. I had the special which was Mexican Pork Tostadas. Totally awesome! My husband had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken. He said it was fantastic. My stepson had a small pepperoni pizza. He can normally eat an entire Little Ceasars pizza himself and the small was too much for him. It looked really delicious and he said it was good. He said if we ever come back, we have to eat there again. I would highly recommend Jason's if you are ever on Ocracoke Island! read more

The pizza at Jason's is very good. Having said that, I still was disappointed in general. The service was slow and our server got our order wrong. He was also kinda dirty. His clothes just did not look clean and that did not sit well with me. Another thing I found odd about Jason's was that they served dolphin. Hate to give a low rating to a non-chain restaurant but at their prices they've set the bar high and not delivered. Children's fried shrimp & fries ($8) was the saving grace although not deveined, large shrimp were cooked properly. The Caesar salad was fine and in my experience, only the fanciest places make an exceptional one. The Seafood Trio ($23) had the same tasty shrimp as the kids meal but the positive ends there. The Trio was competed with thin dry fillets of medicine flavored, farm raised, frozen, cheap fish, and a crab cake for which the searing only amplified sub par flavor through its thick crust, none of us three ate it. Garlic broccoli consisted of florets sitting in water with the same sauce as the garlic bread. Sharing the sauce might have been ok but pulling my broccoli out of water is not. The pint of Bass Ale was perfect. Server did well. I once managed a seafood restaurant and like to think that I'm forgiving of small restaurants but as I said, my exceptations were not met. $20+ per dinner entree for such low quality left me feeling like a tourist caught in a trap. read more
