After they weighed my carcass, and then took my medical history, the doctor came in. Although it was quick, the exam was thorough. I was in and out in 15 minutes. The facility is clean and well lit, and everyone appeared to enjoy being there, even with someone showing up at closing. Although there are urgent care facilities closer to me, this IU Health has been the most accommodating and professional.

I called my mother to come get me and take me to another hospital, but the ER doctor refused to let me leave with her and forced me to take their ambulance.. when prior to this, he was ready to send me home. I got to a Lafayette hospital and was rushed into surgery because my appendix had bursted and I was septic at that point - which the Lafayette doctors could see clearly from the tests done at Williamsport hospital. The Lafayette doctors saved my life. I got a bill from Williamsport hospital charging me $6000 after insurance, $3000 of which was for the ambulance ride I was forced to take. I contacted patient services about my experience and I was told that they "met their standards of care." I'll be paying on this bill for years when all they did was put my life in danger. I also had X-rays of my lumbar spine done here summer 2025 (i should have known better, I know) and they told me I was perfectly healthy. I just had those X-rays analyzed by another doctor today and he can see clear spinal deterioration - which is irreversible and progressive, so now I get to see how much worse it's gotten since trusting Williamsport hospital with my care last summer. Please seek alternative care, even in an emergency. This place is a walking malpractice suit waiting to happen, and I'd be heartbroken to see how many people have suffered under their care.

Riverside would rather call patients obese and tell them to loose weight instead of choosing to help them with the medical emergency they were experiencing at the time. Health care is not how I would describe the services offered at this hospital, unless you are a straight wealthy and healthy white man. One star is the least amount of stars I could give and I wish I didn't have to give you that many. The healthcare available in this county is truly abominable and the fact that you are on the top of the list out of the shit heap there is available, worries me and discourages me from seeking any medical care from anyone within a 20 mile radius of me. A CT scan did show a stroke had occurred and that a large mass was seen on one lung with multiple clots. They needed to perform a MRI to see in more detail but unfortunately the machine was broken, and he had to wait three days to get the scan and results. They then suspected cancer of the lungs and needed a PET scan for confirmation, but the PET scan is not in the hospital and he has to be discharged to have one at their facility in Bourbonnais. They send him home on blood thinners so that he can have the scan. He then has another stroke and back to the hospital. They decide he needs a Biopsy of lung to determine the type of cancer in the lung and course of treatment. Sent home to have biopsy scheduled as outpatient surgery that is done two days later. The diagnose comes back stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. Appointment set for week away to see cancer doctor at Bourbonnais facility to discuss treatment options. He is sent home to await appointment. Two days before appointment he has episode of cant breath and turning grey, back to hospital test run show fluid around the heart and emergency surgury to put in drain tube performed. He is now being sent home to await still for the appointment to see cancer doctor to set plan for cancer treatment. My question is why does it take 3weeks to even begin talking about treatment for a serious cancer that is causing all the issues and why is the treatment not even started in the hospital? If this the way they treat people here you may want to consider another option .

My experiences there have been some of the most difficult and, at times, frightening interactions I've had in a medical setting. I have felt dismissed, unheard, and at times treated in ways that did not feel appropriate or professional. I have experienced situations where my concerns were not taken seriously, where communication broke down, and where interactions escalated instead of being handled calmly. There was an instance where I disagreed with a provider and expressed that, for patients like me, pain management can be a form of suicide prevention. Following that disagreement, I was sent for a psychiatric evaluation that, once reviewed by another provider, was described to me as unnecessary and inappropriate. That experience alone was deeply upsetting. What was even more concerning was that after that, anytime there was a disagreement, it felt like that same situation could be triggered again. There were multiple times where law enforcement showed up at my door for welfare checks, and each time I was fine--but those situations were initiated over disagreements, not actual emergencies. That creates fear, not safety. I have also experienced what felt like intimidation and escalation during disagreements, rather than de-escalation and patient-centered care. That should never be the standard in a healthcare setting. On several occasions, while sitting in my room, I could hear staff speaking about me in ways that felt unprofessional and disrespectful. Comments were made that made it seem like provoking or upsetting me was being treated like a joke or a game. I am not the only one who heard these comments--there were witnesses as well. As a patient, hearing that is deeply unsettling and does not create a safe environment. As someone living with chronic pain and chronic pancreatitis, I also want to say this clearly: patients like me are not criminals. We are not less than. We are people trying to manage real medical conditions, and we deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect--not suspicion or judgment. I have serious concerns about whether proper medical screening and stabilization are always being provided. There have been times where I felt like my condition was dismissed because my vital signs were controlled with medication, rather than being fully evaluated and treated based on my underlying medical needs. Controlled vitals due to medication do not mean a patient is stable or does not require further care. Chronic conditions--especially something like pancreatitis--can still require proper assessment and treatment, even when they are not immediately presenting as acute on the surface. I have also felt that there is a lack of understanding or acknowledgment of the difference between acute and chronic pancreatitis in how care is approached. What concerns me most is that this has not felt like a one-time issue, but a pattern across multiple interactions. I also feel that my prior attempts to speak up and advocate for myself may have influenced how I've been treated, which is something no patient should have to worry about when seeking medical care. At this point, I do not feel safe going there alone--but due to my circumstances, I don't always have the option to go elsewhere, even though I've been encouraged to seek care at other facilities. This is not about attacking individuals. This is about accountability and patient safety. Parkview Logansport (LMH), do better. Listen to your patients. De-escalate instead of escalate. Treat people with respect--especially those who are already vulnerable and in pain. And to the systems in place to protect patients: do better. Because patients deserve to be heard, properly evaluated, and treated with dignity. Because no one should feel unsafe when they are simply trying to get help. I will no longer stay silent. I will continue to speak out about what I have experienced, continue to file complaints with the appropriate state agencies, and, if necessary, pursue review through independent ethics channels outside

The glass doors at the reception desk were locked and several staff were conversing among themselves. All but one staff member walked away. The remaining staff member asked if she could help me. I stated I'd like to see a doctor. She replied that there were no doctors. I replied your hours show you are open until 2000hrs. She said, no, we're only open until 1900 hrs. I replied "It's 1800hrs, now." She stated that they only take appointments after a certain time. She asked if I'd like to make an appointment. Frustrated, I said no and left. As a retired firefighter and EMT, married to a nurse, we will be sure to tell the first responder community of my experience.
