A big thank you to Steven for cutting and perming my hair, and to Song for assisting in the cut and…read moreconsultation! I originally came in to do a digital perm but during the consultation, Song mentioned after cutting the bleached ends of my hair off, my hair wouldn't be long enough to do a digital perm. I was pretty disappointed because I was getting my hair done for a special occasion. She pivoted and gave me two options: she could give me a nice cut and teach me how to style my hair, or we could try a cold wave perm. After she showed me a few pictures of a cold wave perm on middle length hair, I chose the perm. Steven washed, cut, and permed my hair. He was very informational and asked me questions about my hair history, what products I use, and taught me how to care for my new curls. I absolutely love my new hair!

This was my second time visiting this salon. Before my first appointment, I read several Yelp…read morereviews where people highly recommended Meina, so I decided to book with her. My first visit was around February for a bang trim, and I booked with her again for this appointment. During my first visit, I only came in for a quick bang trim. The service itself was fine, but the interaction felt a little awkward or off to me. I thought maybe I was just being shy or overthinking it. At the end, she did offer me a Milkis drink and gave me her business card, which I appreciated. Today, I came in for another bang trim and also wanted to cover my gray hairs. When I sat down, she suggested toning my entire head because she said my hair "looked messy." I understand she was probably giving her professional opinion, and I wasn't offended, but I did feel like the wording could have been more tactful. I tried to start the appointment on a friendly note by saying, "How are you? I don't know if you remember me from last time when I came in for a bang trim." She smiled and said she remembered me, but after that, there was no conversation for the entire appointment aside from instructions like "chin up" or "chin down." I completely understand that some stylists prefer to focus while they work, but this is the first salon experience I've had where the stylist didn't really try to engage with me at all. After she finished applying toner, she offered me a Milkis drink before she left while my hair processed. She did check on me once before the full 30 minutes passed, which I appreciated. Once it was time to rinse, we went to the washing station. The chair reclined, and she kept asking me to push back and move my shoulders closer to the sink. I may not have understood exactly what she wanted, but her tone came across as a little irritated and unpleasant. During the wash, she asked someone to place a towel over my eyes. I then lay there for about 10-15 minutes in silence. Meina had left, but she didn't communicate anything like "I'll be right back" or let me know someone else would be taking over. When the towel was removed and I opened my eyes, it was a different person washing my hair. I realized Meina had gone back to her station to work on another client. I didn't mind someone else helping, but I wish that had been communicated to me. Afterward, the same guy blow-dried my hair. Once that was done, Meina came to me to cut my bangs and asked if I liked them. She then asked how I wanted my hair styled and instructed him to make it wavy before returning to her other client. When the styling was finished, she came back and suddenly seemed much more upbeat, complimenting my hair and saying I looked like a "baddie." While I appreciated the compliment, the shift in energy felt a little forced, especially since the rest of the appointment had felt cold and impersonal. To be honest, I think she was just being nicer for a better tip. I wasn't originally planning to tip 20% because the overall service felt off-putting, but since another person helped with washing, blow-drying, and styling my hair, I ended up tipping 20% anyway in case some of the tip went to him. Don't get me wrong, I do like how my hair turned out. However, for $375 for a bang trim and toner, I expected a much better overall experience and stronger communication throughout the appointment. Overall, the people who gave the best energy were the first guy who helped me with my robe and the person who handled my payment. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I also noticed another review from about nine months ago by someone named Heddy who described a VERY similar experience with Meina, so it seems I may not be the only one who felt this way.

But when he asked me what hair cut I wanted and showed him a picture of a burst fade Mohawk and he proceeded to ask have you had this haircut before. Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

Yuji was my hairdresser, and he was so kind, precise, and skilled with my haircut. When I first walked in, I thought, "ah this really is a no frills hair salon," and I'll admit I was a little nervous since it was my first time and I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I sat down, my nerves went away. Yuji was so gentle and attentive, and I felt really well taken care of. My appointment lasted about an hour and included a wash and cut. Parking is validated for up to two hours, which is definitely enough time. I was so happy with my results. I truly don't know how Yuji creates such magic with his hands! I'll be coming here from now on for my haircuts. Please show Yuji and Hair Craft your support by leaving a generous tip. An establishment like this that truly gives you high quality results for such a generous price deserves to be met with gratitude and good tips. Too many salons are charging an arm and a leg for a basic trim these days, and Hair Craft is not one of them. There were only 1-2 stylists working during my visit, so please be patient and make sure to book at least three weeks in advance. When I booked, they were already scheduled out for three weeks, and I overheard them telling other callers the same thing. Thankfully, it was absolutely worth the wait. I can't wait to come back and will definitely be booking with Yuji again. Thank you Hair Craft for such a wonderful experience!!!

As a working mom, I honestly don't have time to do my hair and most days it ends up in a ponytail or bun. She completely understood what I wanted and recommended a number of good options. I ended up with c-curl perm along with a cut and straightening and I am so glad I trusted her. What was supposed to be about a hour long haircut turned into almost three hour appointment and she stayed late to make sure everything was done perfectly. I was so grateful for that. I came in with messy, flat hair and just needed help. I asked for her recommendation and she absolutely delivered. Micheala is so talented, experienced, personable and professional. She gave me a hairstyle that is easy to maintain everyday but still look glamorous and honestly feel like I look 5 years younger. And I kid you not this is the first time my husband has noticed and complimented my hair. That alone says everything. What a fitting name: Theodora Har Salon, truly a "gift of God." I feel so blessed to have found this place. Highly recommend and definitely ask for Michaela!

Daniel is absolutely amazing! Not only is he an absolute sweetheart and an awesome person all…read morearound but he also truly takes the time to put his focus and care into each one of his clients. It was my very first time with The Hideout Salon and not only was he understanding of any scheduling rearrangements we had to make, he also made sure to make it a point that we would be setting enough time aside for what we would anticipate needing so that when the time came, there would be zero rush along with top quality service which makes a huge difference in customer experience compared to factory booking which sacrifices quality, time, and attentiveness for squeezing in numbers, and as clients we all greatly appreciate this! While I was waiting Allie was very sweet and settled me in/welcomed me and offered me something to drink. The decor of the place felt very cozy and cute. If youre a dog lover you'll also be very happy to probably see a friendly cute Lil doggo named Carl (Karl?) comfortably shimmying his way around the shop (and if youre scared of dogs dont worry, he really just does his own thing Lol). Hes So darn cute and floofy. I came in for both a color and a consultation for a potential cut. Because I sometimes tend to notice/look at details that others may want to gloss over or perceive as me overanalyzing, it felt really difficult for me to explain to others how my recent haircut from another place just a month or two ago had specific lengths and cuts in specific areas going around my whole hair that had left my previous haircut feeling kind of "off" in certain ways and that I felt was giving my hair the very slight illusion of looking shorter than it actually really was and a little "choppy" in some areas, which then had an effect on how it framed my face/widened it instead of helping elongate it. But when I explained it to Daniel, he totally got it and even held up the individual sections that he agreed were causing those effects, why it was creating the effect that it was and how we would resolve it. I was so happy that he not only truly acknowledges and makes it important to understand where his clients are coming from (whether its concerns or goals etc) but that he also has such skill and knowledge to be able to fully do so and hit the nails right on the head. The color was also beautiful as well and because I wanted something that was healthier than permanent that would also give my hair a healthier appearance (ie shine, softness, gloss etc) he recommended the demi and also mentioned that it would make it easier down the road for me to go lighter if I ever wanted to. The color blended and matched so well with the rest of my hair and everything from the cut to the color made me feel like all of my goals were achieved. Everything Daniel did with my hair left me feeling so *Bonita*, and he was just such a joy to work with and an awesome person all around. Thank you Daniel for this lovely experience :) -------------------------------- Parking: Since the salon is in the heart of Downtown, its best to try and arrive a bit earlier than your appointment time and to be prepared for alot of one way streets and quickly turning into the available open public parking lots closeby before passing the salon (to avoid having to go further down in a circle to get back to the parking again). I believe there are 2 or 3 lots before you pull up to the salon that have big signs that say public parking. If youre driving towards the direction of the salon, out of the 3 the first one youll pass is just self-service/pay which was the one I parked in, and the other two have attendants as you pull up to the salon. Im not sure if both of those allow open access to all, so i will find out the next time I go again :) The front of the salon itself can be very easy to miss so just make sure to park before you even pass it on your GPS and youll see a small little sign over a door that says the Hideout salon when you walk up. There will be a door code for you to enter so just ask the salon for the door code in advance so that youre all set to go when you get there as well :)

I went in for a brunette colour correction that took almost five hours, and every single minute was worth it. I trusted his judgement, his suggestions, and his overall vision for my hair, and I'm so glad I did. This is the first time in my life I've walked out of a hair appointment with my expectations truly exceeded. I left The Hideout completely blown away by the results and didn't feel the need to tweak, adjust, or "fix" anything afterward, which is rare. Even the blow-dry/silk press combo lasted a full week. Daniel is kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely to spend time with. I've absolutely found my stylist and will 100% be back.
