In fact, it is worth a a community (or more) detour. Good food, good coffee, good bakery, good people. Plus, the building itself is fresh and fun, not just a tired old diner. And to top it off, when my wife left her purse their, they ran down the street and got it to us. Now that is service.

The collard greens, grits, (best we have ever had!!) and french fries were all perfectly cooked, food was hot and our server, Rusty, was a pure delight! He was very knowledgeable and he had fantastic recommendations from the salmon to the delightful key lime pie we had for dessert! He was so attentive, but never intrusive. We saw on the sandwich board outside on the sidewalk, that the meats are wood smoked, and so we are already looking forward to trying those next time! We also noted they serve a weekend brunch on Saturday's and Sunday's until 2 pm... so that's also in our minds to check out and spread the word! Dairy free and gluten free items marked on their menu also.... very very highly recommended, they updated their menu about a year ago we were told... it's worth the drive!

I would have given this a 5star review because my food was overall 5star, but there were just too many issues in timing and service and such not to make note of. This was an event where all tables were sat at the same time. Tables were getting their first appetizer before we even got our drinks, and our drinks didn't come out together at all. One person in our party had Celiac but they forgot to bring out a gluten free appetizer, so the rest of us finished our appetizer before she even got hers. Probably not what staff was used to with everything at the same time, I get it, it just wasn't a very good start. It was also freezing to start inside and I kept my jacket on through the first course. Then it warmed up. Old building with radiators, also totally get that, but if the seating was staggered and that front door kept opening, it would have been miserable. After our drinks and appetizers, timing worked out on the rest of the meals. Everything was wonderful and the menu was so thoughtfully laid out. The only other snafu was our secondi course of pappardelle with wild mushrooms had no mushrooms in it, like zero. The gluten free dish had a ton of them and looked really good. It wasn't worth bringing up given the timing issues, and even without the mushrooms the pasta was absolutely delicious. Scallops were cooked to perfection, though if the risotto had saffron in it I couldn't tell at all. Still, I didn't leave one single scrap on ANY of my plates. Despite any issues, the staff was so kind throughout and they were all obviously rushing around trying to get everyone everything they needed. Great food, lovely staff, amazing ambiance -- yes, I'll definitely try to come back here if I'm ever out this way.

This is the cutest little tea shop. I had a few minutes to kill in Spring Green, and I decided to…read morestop in to Bird of Paradise. There were several parking spots available right out front. As soon as I walked in, I was overwhelmed (in a good way) by the variety of art displayed all over the store. I really liked the skateboards painted by a local artist, and the person working the tea counter was happy to talk to me about the artists and the upcoming art fair in town. I took some time to peruse the tea accouterments available in the store, including mugs and infusers, ready-packaged loose tea, and more. This is a great place to shop for a tea lover in your life! Then I meandered over to the walls of tea. There are many varieties available and again the employee was very happy to talk through any questions. There were four teas at the counter that were available to sample. I sometimes appreciate having more limited options instead of having too big of a selection to be indecisive about, so I tried a couple samples and chose from there. I got the Precious Eyebrows tea (that's a translation of the original name!), and it was a really good classic green tea. The treats behind the counter, like the chocolate chunk cookies and different types of pie, were very tempting. I didn't get any food this time, but I do hope to return! The store is also linked to an art and jewelry gallery that I was able to check out while my tea was steeping. There is also both indoor and outdoor seating and a couple of other shops right nearby to check out. Great place to check out.

I called yesterday to ask when Brewhaha opens (we're in town for a wedding), and Pat let me know Brewhaha isn't a cafe. But, appreciating the essential nature of starting the day with a good cup of coffee, Pat and Matt offered to hook us up with a few cups of coffee since they would be up early preparing coffee for the local cross country meet. I'm inspired to carry the spirit of generosity forward. Thank you Brewhaha - you're the best!

I came here with some colleagues from work during a work trip and we had a great time trying the local's favorite ice cream shop! They offer a nice variety of flavors that change every few weeks and they even have non dairy options that taste delicious! The owner is incredibly friendly and kind as well and she even offer Afro-Caribbean food made fresh in house! The inside of the shop also carries goodies like cheeses and sparkling drinks, which I thought was so fun! I got a classic pairing of vanilla and chocolate and enjoyed every lick of it!
