The flank steak was tender and tasty. Prepared to a perfect medium and marinaded in a nice meaty broth. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken Piccata was overcooked, dry, resulting in a tough chew. I did enjoy the Mushroom Strudel. A moist dish with a tasty gravy drizzle. I would've liked to try the bread pudding with caramel sauce, but they apparently ran out. The other desserts were ok. They looked like they were hastily cut into slices and served on the thinnest of paper plates. I could tell those running the place were also a bit frustrated; they made their feelings rather vocal, easy for all seated to hear (that's like a major rule of restauranting: the issues in the back should never be exposed in the front, where the customers can hear.) We also noticed that all the chocolates named the cocoa source. Our favorites were the horchata and caramels! The fruit chocolates were a bit underwhelming as we expected to taste more of the fruit. We also thought some of the tea chocolates could have used more tea. They also sell a 12 piece chocolate box, as well as single chocolates. They also have a couple different chocolate barks to chose from. They sell at the Dane county farmers market on the square Saturday mornings. However they do not carry single chocolates, only the bark and groups of 5 chocolates. I believe the 5 piece is a random assortment. All in all this is a great local business to support! Old building with radiators, also totally get that, but if the seating was staggered and that front door kept opening, it would have been miserable. The only other snafu was our secondi course of pappardelle with wild mushrooms had no mushrooms in it, like zero. The gluten free dish had a ton of them and looked really good. Scallops were cooked to perfection, though if the risotto had saffron in it I couldn't tell at all. Still, I didn't leave one single scrap on ANY of my plates. Despite any issues, the staff was so kind throughout and they were all obviously rushing around trying to get everyone everything they needed. I called yesterday to ask when Brewhaha opens (we're in town for a wedding), and Pat let me know Brewhaha isn't a cafe. But, appreciating the essential nature of starting the day with a good cup of coffee, Pat and Matt offered to hook us up with a few cups of coffee since they would be up early preparing coffee for the local cross country meet.
