We ordered a cold brew, a cheese danish, and a crumb cake, and everything was fresh and delicious. One unique feature is the attached dispensary, where they offer THC beverages along with other products. The coffee shop itself has plenty of seating for couples or small groups, and we had no trouble finding street parking. The staff was very friendly, and everything in the pastry case looked amazing. Unfortunately, the dining area was somewhat dirty and disorganized. I realize that was probably a combination of customers not cleaning up after themselves and the staff being too busy to keep pace, but there was food smeared in several places, and we had to do quite a bit of cleaning before we could settle in. We really wanted to love this place, but we left disappointed overall. My croque monsieur was the clear standout--a genuine 10 out of 10. It was absolute perfection. Unfortunately, my wife's classic ham-and-cheese baguette was the exact opposite. The ham and cheese were excellent, but the baguette was blackened on the bottom and so tough that she couldn't bite through it. She eventually gave up and ate only the meat and cheese. A baguette should have a satisfying chew and a good crust, but it shouldn't require a battle. When you visit a French bakery, freshly baked bread should be one of the highlights. The turkey salad side was also unappealing. It contained a seasoning neither of us cared for, and the overall dish felt greasy and heavy. It needed some fruit, nuts, or another bright element to provide contrast and balance. The tomato soup served with my sandwich was perfectly decent, but it wasn't noticeably better than a good premade soup from the grocery store. We also tried a pear pastry, chocolate chip cookies, and another pastry roll. Nothing was bad, but nothing was particularly memorable, either. Everything was simply okay. We would be willing to give the bakery another chance and sample some different pastries. The bread used for my croque monsieur was outstanding, so I would gladly return for a loaf of that if it's available to purchase. Overall, however, the experience was good rather than memorable, and we don't feel any urgency to return. To those about to nosh, we salute you--and hope you don't break your jaw on an overcooked baguette!

The English muffins tasted fresh, the eggs, cheese, and toppings were high quality, and I especially loved the dollop of hollandaise sauce on my sandwich--it was like a portable Eggs Benedict! The atmosphere was just as enjoyable as the food. There was plenty of seating inside and outside, the staff was incredibly friendly and prompt, and the café was spotless with adorable décor (plus some fun Lake Norman merchandise for sale). Parking was readily available and easy. Customer service: the barista who took my order was cold, direct, and rushing to finish helping me so she could go back to her family sitting in the cafe and keep talking to them. She didn't want to do her job, she continued to walk away from the counter to socialize and only walked back to the counter when someone came in. They call your food orders out rather than bringing it to you, customers buss their own tables, and I never saw any of the workers wipe off tables after people left. They have a 95 sanitation rating. Food: decent (I got the Turkey Apple Panini), but it was overwhelmed by the honey mustard and the plate still had residue on it from a previous meal (gross!). Drink: I got an iced vanilla chai. There is a previous yelp review warning against the chai tea and they were right - it did not taste like a chai, just like watered down & milky black tea. I didn't try any of their coffee drinks so I can't speak to that, but I don't have high hopes. Willow Wood Coffee would not be my first choice as there are so many other coffee shops around that have excellent food, drink, and customer service.

There were two servers tending to the dining room. They were friendly. There were mistakes on the special menu and they alerted of the issues. They had a special Valentines menu, a tea menu, and a dessert menu. The tea was good. They got it out in a reasonable time. The server brought me a smidge of honey. They had a decent selection of caffeine free teas. She took our food order the same time as our tea order. We sat at our table waiting for an hour before questioned the status of our meal. The table beside us was also becoming restless and tired of waiting. Finally the table beside us received his chicken salad sandwich. His date received my date's order ant took a bite. They resolved this by taking the plate from the incorrect table and gave it to my date AFTER it was touched! This left me sitting there with no food. My date finished her meal and I was still sitting there with nothing. I only ordered a salad topped with grilled chicken!!! After being there for one hour and fifty minutes they said the chicken was still not ready. They didn't charge if for our meal but I never received any food. Nothing. This was a well thought out special occasion that was ruined by an incompetent kitchen. It was a disaster. I left there and stopped by Jersey Mike's. Two hours of my life totally wasted.

Waterbean is spacious, they have indoor seating as well as covered outdoor seating. I was waited on immediately and asked the barista for his suggestion. I was just getting a cup to go, but it's an awesome place to stay for a while. The ambiance is perfect.

But if that happened, would the staff at Lost Worlds kick him out? Tough call. It's a friendly and efficient staff but they would have to choose between friendly to one or comfortable for all.
