This coffee shop & cafe has so much potential, but unfortunately I was disappointed by the poor customer service, drinks, and cleanliness. The decor of the shop is cute and there are lots of seating options available both indoor and outdoor. There is free wifi available so it's a good place to get some work done. Parking was readily available and easy. Customer service: the barista who took my order was cold, direct, and rushing to finish helping me so she could go back to her family sitting in the cafe and keep talking to them. She didn't want to do her job, she continued to walk away from the counter to socialize and only walked back to the counter when someone came in. They call your food orders out rather than bringing it to you, customers buss their own tables, and I never saw any of the workers wipe off tables after people left. They have a 95 sanitation rating. Food: decent (I got the Turkey Apple Panini), but it was overwhelmed by the honey mustard and the plate still had residue on it from a previous meal (gross!). Drink: I got an iced vanilla chai. There is a previous yelp review warning against the chai tea and they were right - it did not taste like a chai, just like watered down & milky black tea. I didn't try any of their coffee drinks so I can't speak to that, but I don't have high hopes. Willow Wood Coffee would not be my first choice as there are so many other coffee shops around that have excellent food, drink, and customer service. read more

Visited while in town and stopped by for a sandwich and drink. It was your typically coffee shop with a cute seating area. Customer service was good and they got our orders out pretty quickly My party ordered the chai with cinnamon and caramel and a gingerbread chai. Both were underwhelming from my opinion. The chai didn't have a strong flavor which was disappointing. I didn't taste any gingerbread in the drink. We also ordered a croissant with sausage and a jack wrappit. I was so excited to try this café in our small town but was surprised how overpriced it was and the quality. Both portions were a child's size portion of sandwich and side, served on plastic plates that showed lots of knife marks which felt unprofessional, and like the plates had plastic coming off. My chicken salad was 1/4th cup at best on an over toasted croissant with mustard of all things. Tiny portion of pasta salad. My husband got a panini that you could get at an airport and both ours with water was $21. It's just disappointing how small the portions were for not good food. We won't be back. read more

I started off with the morning Fog (early grey tea latte with lavender and vanilla), the turkey cranberry Brie panini, and finished with a mini blueberry tartlet (pie) My panini was fresh, and hot. Definitely more filling than bread (huge plus) the major surprise was the Dijon mustard tang that set off the sweetness of the cranberries. It came with a choice of pasta salad or chips - I went with the chips. While slightly dry, it's most definitely house made with fresh ingredients. I typically dislike olives but these were high quality and didn't have the jarred slime on them like many olives do. My latte was beautiful for this cold snowy (yay!) day...all the coziness of a latte with hints of lavender and vanilla on my tastebuds and nose like a warm blanket wrapped around me. I did some studying and decided I needed to finish my meal with the minim blueberry pie. My barista said they stated them around Thanksgiving but had such a request that they kept them on the menu. Great coffee, poor service. Always 4-5 people working and exactly one of them actually making orders. They also ask you to order online, but don't check the online ordering queue so don't know if one comes in or not. Last time this happened, the young kid asking asked me if I "really paid for it" before sheepishly apologizing when he found the order. ‍ It's unfortunate because it truly is delicious coffee, but it's not worth the headache when there are so many other places around! read more

Went on a Sunday morning around 10:30am and had a good experience! Once you walk in the door, the space is pretty tight and not a lot of standing room to order, but other than that super cute inside. There are several tables indoors and a few outside on the patio which is nice. There are several seats at the coffee bar as well! We ordered the whitewater latte which was delicious and the Oh Wow which was made with peanut butter. The lattes were served in a double insulated mug- super nice touch! First time customer and I would probably return. Took them a bit to come out front to take my order. They were deep in a conversation in the back room. Coffee could have had more flavor. Seemed a bit washed out tasting. Sandwich was pretty good. Pasta salad was probably my favorite thing I had but the serving was quite small. The table I wanted to sit at was dirty. The table I settled for was in direct line of the sunlight bouncing off a car in the parking lot. I eventually moved to a booth so I wasn't in the blinding light. They had a set of blinds but they weren't quite doing the trick. Might try again and see if I'm made to feel more welcomed. read more

There is a new place in town and so far it feels right. It feels genuine.... it smells like good coffee. We just had an Americano and a dark roast daily coffee.. mainly went in to do some recon, look the man in the eye and see what it was all about. But checking things out, food (small breakfast offerings from what I saw, but maybe more..) looked good and prepared with care. Latte and other "mixed" drinks came by artfully layered. There seemed to be careful guidance and training going on with staff -- It looked like a transfer of knowledge and understanding was brewing along with the drinks. Sometimes it is tough being the new kid in town, but I suspect Willow Wood Coffee should not have any problems -- looking forward to the next visit. Suggest you give it a try. read more

I love popping by Willow Wood for a coffee after dropping my son off at school. It's a cozy place to hang out, relax, and vibe for a bit. My go-to is the decaf Americano and a danish, both of which are terrific, can't recommend them highly enough. The staff is friendly and helpful and I enjoy interacting with them. The only downside is that their Point Of Sale system seems to not consistently work. Out of the 5 times I've been there, it's only worked the first time once, it usually needs 2 or 3 times to it to accept payment. When the place is quiet, it's annoying, but not terrible. However, when the place is busy (which it is a lot of the time because it's awesome), this throttles the baristas as they have to redo the transaction while making coffee at the same time. I'd love to see them replace their system with something more reliable/stable. read more

I came in today at 11:49 And I went to order breakfast. They told me that they stop serving breakfast at 11 which I am VERY surprised for a Saturday morning. I politely asked the young man at the counter if they had any Gluten free options / pastries. And he said they don't. There were quite a few alternative milk options for anyone interested in that selection. I've come here a hand full of times in the past two months and it's a nice little cafe. The specialty coffee drinks are decent but nothing I would tell anyone to go try. I thought the cream cheese danish was yummy- had a good ratio of bread to cream cheese. It's a nice spot to catch up with a friend inside or on the small patio. I have been coming here since they first opened with my dog. To be honest, I've never loved their coffee, too sweet for my liking. The staff however is always sweet and the atmosphere is cozy. I recently heard about an interaction where an employee was shamed publicly. It's sad to hear about stuff like that happening. I've thought back on my times there and have noticed I almost always have a different barista every time. All young employees too. Makes you wonder. I've been thinking about how to write this post for a while now. Just from what I've heard from other talk in the community, this place is no good. My friend and I did some detective work and we saw on their health code violations, one was stating that the manager wasn't ServSafe? That means that North Carolina Food Code requires a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on duty whenever food is being prepared, packaged, or served for immediate consumption, and that has been overlooked for this long. I only ever see the managers/owners there consecutively so how does that happen? No thankyou. read more

I came in to grab a cup of coffee today and was very unimpressed with who seemed like the shop manager or owner. She was yelling and cursing at an employee that couldn't have been older than 18. It was extremely unprofessional to speak to her employee like that at all, much less to do it in front of the entire coffee shop. The employee was visibly crying and was I'm sure very embarrassed that customers could hear. I try to support smaller local coffee shops as much as possible, but after this bothersome encounter today, I can get an average coffee anywhere else but here. I won't be returning and I sure hope the woman who acted in this way will be fired for causing such a scene. read more

Had the oatmeal cold brew drink the other day and found it very bitter. I felt horrible for one gal working while I was there and I still feel badly for watching instead of stepping in to help. An older female employee was continuously yelling at her and the younger girl was just crying. It was a horrible way to treat an employee and made me feel really uncomfortable. I won't be back as I can't support a local spot that treats people so horribly. There are so many other local spots that use the black powder beans. I'll go to those instead. read more

I debated whether to leave this review but after still feeling perturbed days later, I feel inclined to voice my concern. I have been here a few times and enjoyed the experience. However, this weekend I observed an older employee yelling and cursing at a younger employee. The younger employee was visibly upset, and the older employee did not let up. It was extremely uncomfortable and upsetting. I cannot help but imagine if that were my child and I cannot fathom a situation in which it would ever be appropriate to yell at a younger employee in that way in front of customers. I would imagine that for many of the younger employees here, this is their first job. I am unable to support an establishment with a work environment which promotes or condones this type of behavior towards teenagers/young adults. Get your average cup of coffee elsewhere! read more
