Heading out from Pocatillo to Boise with the kids and we decided that we are going to stop in Twin Falls and get something to eat. I wanted coffee, so we looked up coffee shops with food. It was about 3:15 pm on a Sunday when we arrived. We found Java and it was open until 6. Awesome! I called and verified the hours, which were accurate on yelp! We walked in, looked at the menu, gathered our order. We were then told that the kitchen closed at 3. The kitchen did what?!? Okay... how about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (on the menu). "No, sorry". I have no choice but to rate it one star as they closed the kitchen three hours before the rest of the store, and with a dead building you can't make a kid a PB&J? Disappointing... No masks? No thanks. Not yet. I understand it's inconvenient for the staff but lots of other folks are managing to do their jobs with them. If I need to ask you to put one on before preparing my food, then I have to wonder what other hygiene concerns need to be addressed. Did you wash your hands? You come into contact with hundreds of people a day. You could potentially become spreaders before you're even aware you're infected. I would feel reassured to see staff wearing masks even if the customers don't. Especially if the customers don't! You have a choice, but so do I. My choice will be to go somewhere else. read more

Recently went here for an afternoon latte before I flew out and really glad I found this place. Good latte and nice space with plenty of comfortable seating. There were quite a few people that came in during the hour I was there, so it's obviously pretty popular. I'll definitely check this place out again the next time I'm working in the area. read more

We stopped here after road tripping through Yellowstone and Craters of the Moon, so I hadn't had a coffee in 4 or 5 days. My expectations weren't high, but I am from a city with really good coffee shops. The muffins were good. Tiny bit on the dry side, but not bad at all. The selection is wide, but nothing had a label. I kind of felt like an idiot having to ask what this muffin and that muffin were. Just label them, please. The coffee... well, let's just say I still drank the whole thing (5 days without coffee!!!). I could tell just from looking at the foam that the barista didn't know how to make a latte - bubbles should be fine, and generally not be totally white (milk and coffee not blended well). Overall, it was too sweet (with sort of an odd flavor - sugar free vanilla maybe?) and not well made. I have a vendetta against lattes made with 2% or non-fat (aka "americanos with colored water"), but I forgot to specify whole milk, so that probably dropped the latte down another notch through no fault of java's. So in essence, it was about what I was expecting, which was mediocrity. But hey, sometimes a coffee is just a coffee. Next time I'll get the drip. read more

Amazing! Java is simply magical and unique. I read the reviews on Java before we drove thru Twin Falls and I decided that I would have to stop in and give them a whirl. WOW - and let me say it again - WOW. This is hands down, the best coffee joint in the universe. Now I was a Starbucks Barista for 2.5 years so I know what I am talking about people! THE PLACE: Java is cool and hip with a laid-back vibe and a friendly staff. I love the layout of the place. Instead of your standard Starbucks pastry case, Java has a bar top pastry case that curves around the barista area. So you can sit and stare at the baristas and the pastries. THE DRINKS: I had to try the "Bowl of Soul" as all the yelp reviewers raved about it. They were so not wrong. WOW - the Bowl of Soul was absolutely magical. Fresh whipped cream spooned on top - let me restate - fresh whipped cream spooned over the top! Its made with fresh milk, espresso and heavenly chocolate with a dash of cinnamon. I tried the Bowl of Soul twice in one week and it was made the exact same way each time - wonderful. The plain ole black coffee is exceptional too. THE FOOD: There are not enough words to describe the baked goods and breakfast entrees at Java. During the week the hubby and I tried the raspberry muffin, the cranberry orange muffin, the sunrise muffin and the chocolate chip scone. They were all truly awesome, but the sunrise muffin was amazing. Sunflower seeds, millet, orange zest - it was so moist and so yummy. I would pay $500 for the recipe! The chocolate chip scones looked like a giant chocolate chip cookie and tasted like a cross between a cookie and a really moist shortbread. It was awesome! We also tried the Macho Breakfast Burrito. Wow! It had fresh black beans, green chilis, perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and salsa all wrapped in a flour tortilla. Then they wrote "MACHO" on the top of the burrito with some sour cream sauce. It was fantastic. Can you tell that I love Java? I live in California and would seriously consider moving to Twin Falls just for Java. Already planning our next backpacking trip to the Sawtooths and we will be sure to hit Java several times while we pass thru town. PS they have one in Ketchum too! read more

Pros: -Great atmosphere -No pretension -Coffee isn't bad -Food tastes great -Best hangout spot in Twin Falls -Wifi generally works Cons: -Pastries/muffins are often dry and dense -Food (not the pastries/muffins) is too expensive -Outside view is of a former trailer park and two empty commercial lots (one is a big hole) -No longer friendly to local artists (like it was years ago) -Summer hours end at 6PM now instead of 9PM Comment: Java has changed A LOT over the years. Although I would argue it's the best hangout in Twin Falls, it has lost its local charm. For example, the owners have several locations in Idaho, and as a result they have opted to homogenize the look of their coffeeshops by having the same color schemes and art, so much so that they no longer bring in local artists and they recently got rid of their community board in favor or Pier 1 Imports art. Java used to be the local coffeeshop with the local, bohemian feel, but not anymore. Clearly their former motto "not corporate" no longer applies. However, take away the decor changes and the more corporate feel and you still have the best place in Twin Falls to get coffee -- for now. Many coffeeshops in Twin Falls have popped up, but they all have the same strip-mall, faux-Italian architecture as if they were copying Starbucks, and they all make drinks just like Starbucks. At Java, you can at least still get the "So I Married An Axe Murderer" kind of coffee/espresso drinks; the "Bowl of Soul" exemplifies this perfectly. It's not Vivace quality (like in Seattle), but no one in Twin Falls (and I mean nobody) makes coffee in the technical sort of way (the focus in Twin Falls is on drinks like "Snickers" or "Almond Joys" instead of espresso macchiatos, or 6 oz. cappuccinos). The crew that serves these up are superb, and they serve up their drinks without any of the pretension. I love 'em all. Java is 3.5 stars to me, so I round up. I don't like the direction the owners have taken the place over the years, but it's their business not mine. Twin Falls has lost it's artistic coffeeshop, but the staff at least keeps the spirit alive in its customer service. read more

Oh yeah, I like this place. The Twin Fall yelpers weren't lying! This place is cool. I had breakfast here this morning. The food was great. The sourdough toast was awesome! For one thing, it was actually toasted. The raspberry jam that came with it was out of this world! My eggs were superb. The coffee was really good and was just what I needed. The place gets loud sometimes, but the food and coffee and service was outstanding. If I ever come back to Twin Falls, the first place I will go will be Java!! read more

This place is amazing! We were just driving through Twin Falls and needed some morning caffeine to make it to Montana. This place is great. The zucchini bread is the best I've ever had in my entire life, and the coffee was delicious. My friend got the granola with yogurt and fresh fruit and it too was beautiful and delicious. And to top it off, the barista was really cool and super nice. If I'm ever in Twin Falls again, I'm totally coming here. read more

So amazed we found this place! I had a Hammerhead (espresso in coffee) and a breakfast croissant. Both were awesome! You might want to share the croissant---it's hefty, full of scrambled eggs and thick bacon. Also picked up some "lumpy muffins" in a bag (day-old maybe?). The oatmeal looked like a huge serving, and the baked goods looked excellent (it's a bakery too). This will become a regular stop on our frequent trips to Pocatello. Thank goodness for Java---it made up for the WORST food ever from a "cafe" down the street. read more

Java's barista Dillon is hands down one of the BEST in town. Not only does he make an awesome cup of Joe, but he is a very kind soul. I had a hectic morning yesterday and ran out of my house without my wallet, which I didn't realize until I was up to get my coffee (I live a good 20 minutes away). Dillon greeted me with a smile, as always, and said "would you like your usual" which I proceeded to tell him that I'd have to miss out for the day since I left my wallet at home. I was about to turn and walk away, when he stopped me, and said lets get you a coffee. Not only my coffee but a 2nd coffee for a gal I work with and pick up coffee for frequently. I go to Java quite often, but the jester just caught me so off guard. Of course I paid for my coffees the following morning, but I was just so amazed that someone would trust me to come back when in today's world that's a high risk. He totally turned my day around, and I truly appreciate that. I love Java and their staff, and am so thankful that Twin Falls is lucky enough to have such an amazing business in town. Well, I am truly sorry I stopped here this last Saturday (4-21) about mid-morning. Three things stuck out right away. 1. Abusers of 420 this is your place. Rejoice and Enjoy! BTW does anyone who works here have homes with showers in them or did they forget to pay the city water bill again. Those trips to Oregon must be getting costly. Overall your appearance is disgusting imagine what the food was like let alone the coffee. 2. If you value your hearing, the noise here is not going to be for you. I think the blare from the speakers was music, but it was too loud and caused my ears to ring. 3. Did someone burn something? Combination of burnt plastic and burnt coffee lingering in the air. I left without ordering anything as the above was way off-putting! Went elsewhere. Yelp should have a dash or something instead of one star being the lowest. Makes you feel like you're not in Twin Falls, ID anymore, that's for sure. Upon arrival I saw a young man in the window, diligently working on his macbook pro, sipping on (what I imagined to be) a doppio breve macchiato. No paper starbucks cup+ free wifi = I knew right away I was going to like this place. Having 5 people in our group, we were a bit worried about seating because it was quite busy for a Tuesday morning, but we were delighted when we spotted the big brown comfy couch and large coffee table with soom to pull up a couple chairs. We looked around and saw people of all different age groups and seemingly very diverse backgrounds (guy in a suit, guy with dreads, students, old ladies gossiping). Now what to eat/drink?! Sooo many choices. All of their humongo muffins behind the glass looked mouth watering, and their choices for breakfast (and lunch) all sounded incredible. I got the Bowl of Soul, which is like a mexican hot chocolate on steroids.... and some damn good steroids. I also got the Java Benedict, with my eggs cooked "medium". The rest of my group ordered a drink and breakfast as well. The lovely woman taking our order was so friendly and warm, it made for a very pleasant and welcoming experience. Once we all sat back down on the couch and chairs (and excitedly placed our "Lenny Kravitz" table number on the coffee table), it only took a few minutes for us to get our drinks. One of my only complaints would be that our food took quite a while to get out (even my stepmother's avocado toast. Its toast + spread avocado, shouldn't take 20 min right?) But in the end we were thankful because it gave us a chance to talk a bit before the silence ensued while we devoured our delish breakfasts. Only other complaint: my poached eggs were most definitely NOT cooked "medium", they were solid and well done. I've poached eggs many a times, and know that it is an art which takes time to master. Given that this place is new, I will give them some time to get those benedicts perfected (forgiven!). All in all we had a fantasic time, felt cozy and warm and welcome, loved the food and drink, and will most definitely be coming back for future coffee meetups. Thank you, Java! read more

Best coffee shop in town, no contest. I have been a regular here since moving to Twin Falls a year and a half ago. The Bowl of Soul is excellent, I have had it both hot and blended - both equally tasty. I have tried most of the baked goods too. I am a fan of the Asiago bagels, the breakfast croissants, and the zucchini bread. The vibe is very laid back and chill. Comfy seating is available, along with some high top tables and regular tables too. The staff is excellent, all super friendly and quick if you are in a hurry. Most of the baked goods are made in house (only exception: the bagels are made somewhere in Sun Valley and brought in). If you are in town for business, or new to the area, I highly recommend heading here for your morning coffee! read more

I am from Southern Ca and I periodically go on trips and one thing I do on all my trips is try local coffee shops. I came into this coffee shop after seeing it on the side of the road. I order a White Mocha Iced Latte with Almond and Coconut. This has always been my favorite drink, however many places such as Starbucks, don't carry almond and coconut. Anyways. This is the best coffee drink I have ever had in my life. And I drink a lot of coffee. The espresso was so fresh! Service was great! I will come here now every time I visit Twin Falls ID. read more

Stumbled across Java while passing through Twin Falls on our way home from camping in Yellowstone. This was the MOST AWESOME coffee I've ever had, and we visit the coffee "mecca" of Seattle often.
