This place is a complete disappointment. Been there about 5 times for live music and every time, they are out of something...brisket, mushrooms, the last 2 times they had no diet soda available. There are people in my party who do not drink, and do not drink water at restaurants due to now knowing the quality. It is always hot there, summer or winter. The "patio" is their asphalt parking lot, which is sweltering in the summer, I've tried to go inside to cool off, but the A/C isn't working. In the winter, they crank the heat so high, it's like a sauna. The prices are exorbitant and most of the time I cannot get what I want. You would think with brisket being the highest priced meat, they would ensure they would have that every day, The parking situation is a joke. Very small lot, but can't be parked in on Sunday because Broad Ripple doesn't charge for parking, but you end up having to park either blocks away or circle the block for 20 minutes for a spot to open up. read more

Not recommended. My visit to 317 BBQ was a big letdown. I ordered the 1/2 pound brisket and a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, and both were pretty disappointing. The brisket was leathery and dry -- the kind you really have to work at just to chew. It didn't have that tender, smoky pull you expect from good BBQ. The ribs weren't any better -- dry, underseasoned, and lacking any real flavor or bark. They honestly tasted like they'd been sitting around too long after being microwaved to dry out the meat. For a place that specializes in BBQ, I expected way more. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but based on this experience, I won't be rushing back. We heard about this place from some friends while we were on vacation and put it on our list for our next dinner out. It was a perfect Saturday night. The weather was awesome and they had some live music out on their patio. The restaurant was pretty empty considering we arrived at 7:45. All orders are taken on line from the table with the exception of alcoholic drinks that you go to the bar to purchase. We ordered the nachos with pulled pork. The pickled onions and veggies are a huge bonus. They really add a lot of flavor. The pulled pork on our nachos was good however it was refrigerator cold. I don't think they warmed it up or put it in the oven before putting all of the vegetables on top. The dish was good, but I think would be much better if the protein was actually hot or at least warm. We also had the chopped brisket sandwich. It was warm but certainly not hot. Lots of good flavors. Be prepared for plenty of fat in that sandwich. It helps to add flavor but probably a fifth of the protein was purely fat. The biscuit is a 10. Make sure you get that as a side. The bartender was super friendly and talked with us about the food and also some of the beers that they have on tap. We did a DoorDash delivery from 317 and the food traveled pretty well. The ribs and brisket were both well smoked and had good flavor. I preferred the potato salad over the baked beans which had an unusual flavor. The beans weren't bad, just a little non-traditional and not my first pick. I also had one of the $2 biscuits with black pepper and honey. It was nice but would have been better fresh out of the oven. It seemed like it was probably baked earlier then reheated with the honey before serving. I know 317 has had some ownership changes since we last ate there. First time visit to 317 BBQ with some friends. Pleased to see that they had Baby Back ribs on the menu, the best kind of ribs. You order at the table with a QR code, and food is delivered quickly. The bar serves a nice variety of beers, including one of my favorite local brews from Chilly Water. I had the baked beans for a side, made with brisket. They put shredded cheese on top that did not melt- this was probably dur to the fact it was never warm to begin with. The menu had some great options. I went for a meatloaf burger. It was straightforward and tasty. My friend had some brisket that was reportedly delicious. The sides were also a great selection; fried okra, Mexican street corn, yum. You used a phone app to order and the food came quickly. We had dinner here on a warm, but rainy week night and were able to snag a spot in their parking lot and a table in the covered patio area which meant we got to enjoy the nice spring weather and still stay dry! Since this was my food trip here, I went classic with a pulled pork sandwich and side of green beans. The pulled pork was delicious! It was tender and so flavorful. The portion was very generous too, so taking that into account, the price was reasonable. I opted for the sweet heat sauce, which came on the side, and really liked it. It had a little kick, but no burning mouth. I'm guessing that they would probably bring an extra cup of the sauce if asked as the default is one small paper condiment cup. If you like a lot of sauce, I'd suggest asking for this up front. The green beans were quite good and nicely seasoned. I definitely want to try other items here. Other than the sandwiches, the meats are all sold by the pound, and, as with the sandwiches, all sides are a la carte. I had a feeling I was going to end up with waaaay too much food if I started ordering anything but a sandwich and one side. I like leftovers though, so might just plan ahead for a time when I'm in the mood for multiple BBQ meals or will try to come with a little bigger group and plan to share things. Overall I would rate them 3.5 stars. My friend and I were super excited to check this place out. It's right in the heart of broad ripple. They have a lot but it's pretty small. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. The service was ok. It could have been a bit more attentive. Also they brought the dessert out with the entree. The deviled eggs were good. The bacon jam added just the right touch. The entree came out pretty quickly. The highlights were the meat and biscuits. The meat was perfectly smoked. There was quite a bit of fat included. The sides were just ok. Nothing spectacular. The strawberry shortcake was a bit disappointing. The strawberry sauce had a odd flavor to it. The biggest complaint we had is this meal is designed for 2 and they don't bring out any plates to eat it on or extra silverware. I went to the 317 barbecue for the Steve Hostetler comedy show December 12. I invited three friends to go with me and share a dinner and Convo before the show. The food was excellent! I was a bit confused, as it looks like you order at the counter, but we ended up having a server...not sure if they alternate based on how busy it is. There's outdoor seating and sometimes you can savor the smells wafting over from the huge smoker in the parking lot. Place is clean, the service is friendly, there's metered parking (free on Sundays), and close to the Monon trail in Broadripple. The lunch specials are a great deal to sample a lot of what they offer. I recommend the spare ribs and the cornbread. I think their cornbread with the bacon butter is the best I've ever had. After being given a variety of their bbq sauces to try, I'm a fan of the mustard and classic. The all-purpose bbq surprised us with its cola taste but it does go with the meats. I live in the broad ripple area and somehow I am just now visiting this spot. And let me tell you it didn't disappoint. I ordered the 24 hr smoked wings and a Cobra Gato and my friend ordered the Brisket Quesadilla. The service at the restaurant was great. Our server Nick did a phenomenal job managing incoming customers while serving seated guests at the same time. The atmosphere mirrored the food as it embraces a modern country flavor with a city twist. This location is in the heart of broad ripple and offers guests a great night life destination. I searched Yelp for some BBQ joints in Indy and at the top of the list was 317 BBQ. After looking at the photos, I determined this was my kind of BBQ place to visit. It is located in the artsy district of Broad Ripple so there are lots of people on the street. But 317 BBQ has its own parking for its customers which is huge in my opinion. 317 was also established in 2020 so it is pretty new. There is a patio area that is open to the outside but provides shelter. Since I am from Alabama, I believe and practice that fresh brewed sweet tea is a must with BBQ. The smooth sweetness mixes so well with the BBQ. Why don't you people on the Northside of the Ohio River want to accept one of God's greatest gifts? Haha I called beforehand and asked and all they had was the Pureleaf in the bottle which I have never had but probably like most bottled sweet tea with the exception of Milo's is an abomination to sweet tea. They said I could bring my own sweet tea so I showed up with 2 large cups of sweet tea from McDonald's and it was cool. I went with the 2 meat combo with pork and brisket and baked beans and potato salad and a biscuit with black pepper butter. It comes with a drink but since I brought my own, they gave me a cookie instead. The pulled pork and brisket was fabulous. This was Texas-style brisket with a good rub and a good mix of fat and the pulled pork was so easy to chew with such an excellent smoky taste. I would of sworn I was back in Texas or the Southeast. The portion wasn't huge but it was enough. All 3 sauces went well with the meat. Those 3 sauces are mustard, sweet heat, and a classic sauce which was a Texas inspired sauce as a ketchup base with black pepper and probably chiles. The waitress asked me which sauce I wanted? If you know me or read my reviews, you should know my answer to that. I told I want every single one. They do charge for extra sauce but she only charged me for one instead of five so I will be thankful. The beans would rank among the best I've ever had. They were smoky, a little sweet, a little spice, and some brisket mixed in. The potato salad I wasn't too crazy about. It was more a diced style that tasted like it had celery salt in it. That's always a negative for me. The biscuit was nice and fluffy but I didn't see much value in the black pepper butter. This was the 4th BBQ joint I have eaten at in the Indy area. But I would say this one is more elite BBQ than the other 3 places (Big Hoffa's, Rackz, and Squealer's) I have been to, which also received 5 stars from me too. I'm born and raised in Dallas, so this is just my opinion. Ribs were unseasoned and burnt. Green beans tasted raw, and not tender at all. Along with that, the bacon looked (and tasted) like it was boiled with the green-beans, again unseasoned. Mac and cheese was over all disgusting. And fries were fine, hard to mess that up. On top of that, restaurant was completely empty, and we tried to sit in the back area with my parents (who opted for pizza instead). And they were rudely kicked out. Not a please, but "leave now". Being new here, we asked where we could sit instead, hoping to eat the food fresh, and the kid shrugged his shoulders and said "don't know". Whatever though, lesson learned read more

I was really riding with this place for a while but something has changed in the process and the product has just not been great each time I have returned. This has nothing to do with the deviled eggs - leave those alone please. The most recent take out I ordered brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, sausage, potato salad, mac n cheese and a biscuit. The brisket and the smoked chicken were both so incredibly dry we could barely eat them. Sausage however was juicy and the best part. Pulled pork was okay as well as the potato salad. I don't remember if the mac n cheese has changed but this had green onions and potato chips in it. I love green onions but they have no business being in my mac n cheese - chips added saltiness which was alright. It lacked cheese flavor and separated into a greasy mess. I got the pulled pork, and added another 1/2 lb of brisket, another pint of sides, and cornbread since we had 4 adults. When we got the food it didn't look like much, but was more than enough for the four of us + leftovers. If you only have 2 people, I'd say the Duo is the best way to go - great value and you get to try a little bit of everything! Parking can be challenging, especially with the construction, but we found a spot in the parking lot next to 317 BBQ. The restaurant has a mixture of 4-tops and high-top tables and a small patio. Garage Doors make for an open, airy atmosphere. A lunch menu is offered 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The regular menu has all the meats, appetizers, sandwiches, sides and sauces you could want. Brisket, pulled pork, pork spare ribs, local Amish chicken, smoked sausage and house-made beef sausage are most of the meat selections. Deviled eggs, nacho's and smoked chicken wings are a few of the appetizers that stood out for me. Checkout the Signature sandwiches with pastrami, smoked turkey California Club and of course, the Classic sandwiches are available. I ordered the Smothered Baked Potato with smoked brisket and the Sweet Heat sauce, coleslaw, green beans and delicious cornbread. The Texas-style BBQ smoked over hard wood gives the meat a wonderful smoky flavor. My friends said they enjoyed their dinners as well. For dessert, they ordered banana pudding and I had a scrumptious hot, chocolate doughnut with Raspberry glaze and chocolate sauce drizzle over. It was a rainy, gross day. We decided to try and brighten things up by trying a place we'd been meaning to check out for ages, but hadn't made it to yet. We are so glad we did! First off, service was awesome. All of the guys we talked to were so friendly and helpful. And it's killing me that I can't remember our server's name, because I'd love to give him a shout out. But he was so kind, and just on it. Excellent service. The food is plentiful. We're talking huge servings here. We brought home a ton of food, which we will happily devour over the next day or so. My husband got a combo platter with the roasted chicken and ribs, as well as potato salad and chili. I had the (amazing) pastrami sandwich and my daughter had the smothered baked potato.
