Do not shop here if you have a disability. The staff is absolutely atrocious and ableist. There is a wonderful employee who works here by the name of Jon who I regularly see when I shop here. He is very kind and hard working. However, this morning I overheard the front end management lead complain to another employee about him being scheduled on his own, then he proceeded to say "It's not my fault that they hired someone who needs help while doing a simple task. If it were me, I wouldn't have even hired him". This isn't the first time I've seen management at this location discriminate against disabled employees. I've also seen a different manager take away disability accommodations from other employees. On top of that, I've heard employees using multiple slurs against minority groups. This kind of talk should not be allowed, especially at a company that prides itself on equal employment opportunities. If they don't even care about their employees, what makes you think they care about their customers? I also have seen a couple minors talking about not getting their lunch break on 6+ hour shifts and being brushed off by management. They don't even care about our KIDS. I've been trying to tell myself it's just a couple bad eggs, but with how often I encounter scenarios such as these it's getting ridiculous. I will no longer be supporting a company that allows this behavior, and neither should you. The names I was able to get for these people are Drew, Derenda, and Deanna. These aren't the only instances where it's obvious they don't care about their staff or customers. Every time I have an issue and need to go to customer service, the wait times are horrendous. One time I waited 30 minutes just for a simple return for ONE ITEM. Absolutely ridiculous. This store is a joke on customer service. read more

I am disappointed in the management here for their lack of enforcing COVID safety measures. There are many people shopping without masks including many Amish who should NOT be exempt from being told they have to shop with a mask. There are also many employees who are maskless and smoke outside the store near the UPS drop box which makes it inaccessible to patrons. This market is not doing their part to stop the spread of COVID so I will no longer be shopping here. read more

Convenient location and plenty of parking. They are slightly higher than other competition. Most of the workers are friendly and very helpful. I only rated it a 3 star because of the meat department. Sometimes you will get fresh meat and other times not so much. You have to be very careful with this. Also the bakery can not do many of the different custom cakes do to not having the kits or knowing how to do them. If you want a simple birthday cake they should be able to do it and with 24 advance order. read more

So I go to do my Thanksgiving grocery shopping today with a busted knee cap. I was unable to find cranberries and "Amanda" came up to me to see if she could help. Not only did she find them she could see I was in pain, she went and got them for me. 15 mins later she opened lane #2 to check me out. She also caught that one of my items didn't ring up at the sale price and immediately fixed it. We need more helpful people in these stores! Everyone is always so nice and helpful at this location. Although the store seems like a fine place from first glance, it truly is the opposite of that. Having grown up in Salem, I've made several trips to this Jay C location. Within these trips I have seen nothing but the management verbally abusing their employees and acting unprofessional, you can tell they abuse their power. I've heard Kathy (the store manager) on numerous occasions say "r*tarded", this isn't okay for a number of reasons. First being the fact that Jay C hires on people with disabilities whether it be physical or mental, so this kind of language is not acceptable. I've seen Linda screaming at employees over irrational things, on one occasion I saw her helping a costumer and within seconds of helping them, she was bad talking them at the service desk. I don't know how these people are still working there or how this establishment is still running. It's sad to say the least, I've never went back after I heard Kathy say what she said and I advise everyone else to find another grocery store to shop at. read more

The employee pushing the carts ran into my Mom's car, did damage, admitted guilt, MGR took pics and filled out a report to turn into insurance. They denied the claim and basically called my Mom a liar! Is this how you want to treat senior citizens?? I will never shop there again!! read more

Good selection, decent prices especially sale items. Management leaves a lot to be desired and are dishonest crooks that screwed my own father out of money as well as points he was supposed to get. They need to get some new management and some honest people running their store. read more
