The person they sent did the job but required a lot of babysitting. He drilled a joist in the wrong place (near the edge) which is incorrect and weakens the framing. Also he was trying to install a non GFCI breaker for the hot tub and I had to look up the electrical codes to convince him otherwise. I hope there are better options out there. Brotherly Love installed a standby generator for us after the big freeze a few years back. We had followed the maintenance and oil changes and this year the generator kicked in for 2 days during the Derecho in May and 2 days after Hurricane Beryl in July. A bigger maintenance came up and I called to ask if they knew of anyone who could do the service. Turns out they now offer generator maintenance in addition to all the electrical services they offer. Like last time, they were helpful about keeping the costs low. They said, it would be cheaper for me if I ordered from generac and even told me where to order the battery for the generator. They only perform maintenance services on certain days so it would be a few weeks out before they could come. But gave us time for the parts to come in. True to my memory, our technician was professional, left no trace of his work and courteous. I mention them to all my friends who need a standby generator or service. read more

John and his office staff were most apologetic and kind in taking responsibility for their customer service falling thought the cracks. They set an appointment and came out right away to fix every issue we had with the work. John showed us how to set up the generator and he and another representative labeled the boxes as well as switching around the inside and outside wires and fixing the grounding rods. We only had an issue where our Jackery (backup battery) broke when they flipped off the power breaker and we could not get it to reset and it won't charge anything we plug in. We will see what we can do to fix this on our own. Anyhow, we are pleased with the service they came back to perform and we would recommend them after their great customer service in the end. read more

We decided to look into a whole house generator and called three companies for estimates. One was a large Generac supplier, another a Generac and Kohler supplier and third was Brotherly Love Electric who installs generators and recommended we consider the Briggs and Stratton generator. The estimates were reasonably close in price on a comparable capacity basis. The Generac suppliers estimated it would take 17-26 weeks to complete installations due to a shortage of generators. This compared to a "no later than" 14 weeks installation for the Briggs and Stratton generator. Hurricane season was approaching so the timing was important to us. Generac offers a 3 year warranty and Briggs and Stratton a 5 year warranty. The Briggs and Stratton's Fortress model is an upgrade with a 10 year warranty and cost an additional $1000. The Brotherly Love Electric representative mentioned that the Fortress models can arrive faster. So we went with the Brotherly Love Electric proposal for the Fortress model because: 1. It was competitively priced with the others, 2. Had a potentially faster installation time, 3. Offered a longer warranty period, 4. Provided the option to extend the warranty to 10 years with the Fortress model, 5. Also, Generac is switching from a Mitsubishi engine to "their own" and we didn't want to be the experiment with their new engine. Fellow Yelper Gina also provided a very positive review of Brotherly Love so we hired them to install the Fortress model Briggs and Stratton whole house generator. A nice surprise is our generator was installed in 4 weeks! Nathan the owner, his partner Daniel, and JP of Brotherly Love Electric were all a pleasure to work with and exceeded our expectations. This company saved the day for me, on Friday I lost electricity to one half of my house, and as luck would have it, it was the side that ran the AC unit. I came to Yelp to find an electrician, I called several companies, most did not answer, some couldn't work me in until the following Monday. Then I called Adrienne, it was 4:30 pm on that Friday afternoon. The fact that I was calling so late on a Friday did not faze her, she was extremely helpful and promised that they could get the work done over the weekend. After moving within Houston and losing power for 6+ hours immediately after I moved in, I started looking for a generator. I spoke to a number of companies; I had about 4 others come out. When Mr. King came out to give me an estimate, he was straightforward about what he thought I needed (didn't try to oversell), gave me his views on the generator brands, and was very clear about the entire process (including timing delays). While Brotherly Love's price was just slightly higher than the bigger companies, I went with Brotherly Love because I knew I would be getting an American-made generator and would be working with a family-owned company, both of which matter to me. When there were some bumps with invoicing, Mr. King handled the matter personally. Because they were so busy, I did have some trouble at times getting updates on the status of the install of the transfer switch (there was a nation-wide shortage), but eventually we got back on track. The electrical install team of Tommy and Chance were stellar. They worked hard, kept the area super clean, and answered all my questions as they went along. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure my installation went well and that I understood how the system works. While I don't have any electrical needs (yet), I will be calling Brotherly Love in the future thanks to my positive experience with the generator installation. I can't recommend them enough. read more
