They took good care of the items and helped pack things well and securely. But this most recent time he reserved a date for a move within the same city, which happened to be from a cancellation from a woman who was moving out of state. As it got closer to my dad's move date, my dad called a week+ before to confirm, and the guy took back the woman moving out of state's reservation and never even called to let my dad know. When my dad talked to him, he claimed to have never spoken to my dad before and was adamant that he didn't have a reservation at all. We think he took the other woman's reservation since it was out of state = more $$$. But that's a bad business move. Yeah, l get that they have 4.5 stars for their reviews, but IF this situation happened to YOU, you'd be pretty upset and stressed, too. Especially since my parents sold their house and are moving into a new one...they HAVE to be out due to escrow closing dates. The very least the business owner could've done was have some customer service skills and offered him another date that would work within my dad's timeframe and slightly discount the rate, but nothing was offered, not even an apology. Needless to say, my elderly father had some choice words for the business owner (or whoever took the call), can't say l blame him. In this day and age, customer service skills are sorely lacking. We will never use this moving company again. Yes, they have many 5 star reviews, but it only takes one bad experience to lose a customer for life, and business from everyone we know.

Douglas reached out to me with an offer of exactly what I needed: two movers to help load…read morealready-packed boxes and some furniture into a truck I rented at my pick up location, and to help unload at my destination ~50 miles away. Every other company I talked to was trying to charge me double time for the drive, even if they didn't have to use their own truck. Douglas called me later in the day to talk through logistics, and he estimated and quoted me for four hours of work with a $60 fee to get his guys back to Indio from San Diego. I thought the price was very fair and Douglas was personable and seemed trustworthy so I gave this business a chance despite their limited reviews. I'm so glad I did! Douglas sent out Theodis and Damien to help with the move, and it was the best moving experience I've ever had (and I've moved 16 times in my life). Even though the boxes were wrapped ridiculously from my move down from LA, they were very understanding and packed the truck way more efficiently than the last guys. Both men were friendly, and along with helping me with my move (up quite a few stairs at my destination), they also helped my dad move some of his stuff. Additionally, I accidentally gave Theodis $20 more than I was quoted, and he was honest about it and returned the extra. How awesome! I recommend them and would call A-1 in a heartbeat if I ever have to move within their service area again!
