Keaton and Steve came out to give a quote on Saturday. They recommended a drain and refill with a chlorine wash. They found our pump running too high at 55, and turned it off. My husband and I really liked them, and we thought they'd also do a great job as a replacement for the current service. We let them know that we had a couple more people to see. Another guy came a few hours later and his opinion was that a refill wasn't required to do a green clean. He threw in some complimentary muriatic acid along with a little chlorine shock (very nice of him). Another service came yesterday, with the same view that no drain/refill was required. Apparently, this seems to be a best practices point of difference among pool pros here in Tucson. We decided to hire RePHresh, both for their recommended drain/wash/refill - plus as the new regular weekly service. Their monthly rates were quite good, and the pool hadn't been refilled in four years, anyway. When we communicated by text, I mentioned that the pressure had dropped acceptably when we turned on the pump after a few chems had been added the day before. I don't know if it was Keaton or Steve. He said he didn't want to start a job that someone had already started. I'm thinking, What!? He turned down a gig that would have paid handsomely AND a weekly service gig! The response was curt, and I was shocked. It felt defensive, as if a few chemicals thrown in was revealing them as not entirely honest in their push for the more extreme - aaand more expensive - initial clean. Then he said I had to take a sample to... I forget where, since the water had changed since they'd been there, and they needed a reading in order to know what they were working with. I refused, and asked why they hadn't taken samples the day before when they'd come to give the quote (which they'd written out in detail already).. I asked him to do it. The last service who we interviewed took several samples back with them before we got their quote. Steve-or-Keaton said then I needed to go somewhere else. I dunno, but the words mistrustful, childish, revealed-as not-entirely-trustworthy, etc., were going through my head. The last text from them was "that pump never should have been turned back on!" Hmm. I didn't text back that it was still running at an acceptable pressure. Color me mystified and highly annoyed. We hired the last folks, who had no problem with someone else's chemicals having been thrown in.

After 2 weeks of service he invoiced me the full month of $100, and when I asked he said It would cover us until May 15th and then invoiced us $75 after we cancelled our service on May 9th. He came a total of 6 times... We cancelled service because after he shocked our pool it became cloudy and slightly green in color. When I mentioned this to him he argued with me stating the chemicals were fine and the pool looked "great" to him. I mentioned it again to him a week later and again he dismissed it and me. If you have to argue with your pool guy that a pool should not be cloudy or slightly green...you need a new pool guy. I called a Quailty Pool Service that tested the water and found the CYA (cyanuric acid) levels were well over the normal range, 170 actually....which causes cloudiness in pools. We had to drain the pool, note we drained our pool previously, ONE year ago, so the water was new and in great condition. When Saul stopped by to return our key, he immediately asked if we received his invoice, we had questions and concerns, obviously. When my husband asked if he had the key, Saul said yes but that he wasn't going to give it to us until we paid him. He held our key hostage, and then threw a fit when we were like, hey you said the $100 covered us until May 15th. Your invoice is also incorrect because if we look at how many times you cleaned our pool (6) at $25 a visit then the invoice should be for $50. Avoid this company.

He came over and already started cleaning our pool and then told us it would be $115/mo. because he said he "didn't know we had a spa also" and that he would charge us for the cleaning he just did which we didn't know he was going to do. He was just supposed to take a look and give us a confirmed estimate/proposal. My husband didn't like that he "snuck in" a cleaning and that he lied about not knowing we had a spa. So we were going to go with someone else that quoted us the same price for our pool AND spa but when he talked to Saul he told us he didn't intend to be sneaky about the cleaning or price so he said he would still charge $100/mo. We also had a broken creepy crawler that we needed to replace or buy a different pool vacuum. Since Saul needed to use his own vacuum, he would need to charge us $115/mo., but said he would give us time to purchase our new pool vacuum before he would raise the price to $115/mo. In 2 months we still couldn't purchase a new pool vacuum or new creepy crawler so we communicated that to Saul and said he can just start charging us the $115/mo. He told my husband he "appreciated us communicating that and being honest." The following week he didn't show up to clean our pool and then again the week after, so my husband reached out to him to make sure everything was okay. His response was: "I'm going to have to cancel service. Right now I can't really take any pools that are going to give me a lot of trouble - equipment wise and how dirty they are...don't get me wrong, I deal with dirty pools all day, but when the equipment can't handle it, it makes my job hard..." So my husband replied with, "Oh wow, thanks for the heads up." Saul then replied with, "thanks for the heads up on getting the creepy crawler, instead you got a new doorbell, great priorities" Saul the owner, apparently rang our "new fancy doorbell" (which might I add, doesn't actually work otherwise, we would have answered and talked to him in person AND our new doorbell was a gift from my in-laws 2 Christmases ago!! *which they tried to install themselves) This is why I never saw Saul come by, because our "new doorbell" doesn't even work! He didn't even try and knock or call or text(which he normally texted my husband EVERY TIME HE CAME OR COULDN'T COME). Instead he ASSUMED we bought a new fancy doorbell instead of a vacuum/creepy crawler for our pool! Assuming that just makes him look rude and ignorant and frankly is really none of his business whether we got a new doorbell or not! I shouldn't have to explain to anyone that we didn't spend our own money to buy a new doorbell or explain if we did spend our money on something! We had open communication with him about still not being able to get a new pool vacuum and he obviously lied about being okay with still using his own and charging us more. I wouldn't trust him further than I can throw him. We should have gone with our gut in the first place when he seemed untrustworthy. If you're looking for a reputable pool company, RUN FROM THIS ONE! I called Mike to repair my Paramount Pool Pump/Cleaning system, which is very expensive. His price was reasonable, he matched a competitor's price, and came out the same day to fix it. I also had air leak in my system and he saw the problem instantly and fixed that too. I thought Mike was very knowledgable, and he was clean, friendly, has a truck with his company name and runs a legit and dependable operation. I would hire American Pool Pumps again without a doubt. I want to add his response time was awesome. I tried calling 4 other pool service companies prior to American Pool Pumps, all of which said they were too busy because of the latest rains/flooding, and only one company said they could come out on the following Monday (I called on Thursday 9/11/2014). We signed on for him to do our cleaning and chemicals at $85/week plus additional for chemicals. He never gave us an invoice for chemicals after the first month but was putting two chlorine tablets in a flotation device in our pool weekly. ONCE, a new guy put liquid chlorine in to try to shock it after testing it. He went through employees regularly, we constantly had new pool cleaners who were always quick to tell us their new status and lack of pool cleaning experience. It got to a point where they were just coming, skimming leaves on the top, throwing two tablets in the flotation device, and kicking my Kreepy Krawler on and leaving. I mentioned for weeks straight that our Kreeper was only working for a couple of hours after they left and then wouldn't work the rest of the week, an obvious sign of an issue. I mentioned that our pump was leaking, again another sign of an issue. They just said they'd "tell the boss" in which I never received a response. Never received invoices to pay them, made phone calls that were never returned, he charged me $75 to clean our filter ONE MONTH after it was replaced, then again in two more months? I told him I thought that was included, in which he replied no so I told him I would just do that myself. It became very evident that my pool was being severly neglected so I gave my 30 day notice. That week my pool started turning green. He had an employee knock on my door and offer to clean my filter for free if I'd consider keeping them for pool service. I told him No, I just wasn't satisfied anymore and that my pool was green and I needed it fixed and cleaned properly in which he replied that he would tell his boss. I expected the boss to come, give me an estimate and fix it. NOPE! I called the boss, went back to the pool area, did the usual; two chlorine tablets, skim of the top, didn't even attempt to get my Kreepy working, and left! I called for new services to come give me estimates and every single one was appauled at what the levels were at and the condition of the pool. They were mortified, as was I, that I was paying somebody monthly to maintain my pool on a weekly service basis and that they allowed it to get that bad and ignore some obvious signs of issues. My filter needed to be replaced, an o-ring needed to be replaced, there was a crack in the pump, and it took a couple of weeks of my new pool guy coming by a couple times a week and adding chemicals to finally get my pool back to normal. Whatever you do, do not trust this company as a pool service, there's no communication, a lack of qualified workers, and you'll pay more in the end for their negligence.

I paid approximately $8,000 in 2020 for a wrap-around deck from The Hurder Corporation, including…read morean additional 5-7 year warranty as stated in my contract and invoice. Within about two years, the deck began to fail with bubbling and surface defects. I contacted the company in August 2025, and over the next seven months they made multiple repair attempts. Unfortunately, each attempt made the condition worse, and the final result is still defective and unacceptable. The issues include improper material mixing, failure to cure, gritty and uneven texture, and visible surface reactions such as wrinkling and bubbling. I have extensive photo documentation of the problems. I also sent the owner a direct message with photos on April 7, 2026 and received no response. As of May 8, 2026, there has been no communication or effort to resolve the issue. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this in good faith, the warranty and workmanship have not been honored.
