The studio is always clean, airy, the equipment and mats are wiped clean of sweat and dirt, and there are never too many people in the studio to make it feel crowded and overwhelming. My one significant disappointment in recent months is the swift succession of trainers who have abruptly left the studio without the owners informing the members of their departure or the reason thereof. In doing my own research and in talking to these ex trainers, it seems that these have been politically motivated as in - the ownership clashing with them on (unknown to me) aspects such as their training time (too much to sustain physically or too little to make it economically feasible, and personal decisions made by ownership. In any case, it would be good if a newsletter went out informing the members of trainers who are leaving/have left and sending them off in a supportive, respectful manner. I've gone through 4 or 5 really good personal trainers - with whom I'd built a personal and professional rapport - only to find out that it was their last week at the studio. This is both disheartening and disappointing. Advice to management - We come to the studio for the whole experience - the convenience of the location, the quality of the training and classes and most importantly the professional expertise and warm personable attitude of your trainers - whom are your biggest assets. Please don't take them for granted.

I've been training at Strength Camp SF for a few weeks now and the experience has been spectacular…read more I started with their 6-week challenge. For all the reasons below I have decided to officially continue as a member! The first thing you notice when you walk in is how clean it is. Unlike other gyms the facilities are always spotless and there are no bad odors. That is highly appreciated. The environment is extremely welcoming and the people are very friendly. Additionally they have a great variety of equipment and exercises. This makes the workouts dynamic and complete. The best part is that there are always 2 coaches per class. They are constantly monitoring your posture and ready to give you tips. This makes you feel very safe while training. The schedule flexibility is another huge plus since they offer classes Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This makes it easy to fit into any routine. Kobe has been my primary coach and he has been great. We've even had the chance to discuss my nutrition plan. However due to my schedule I've also trained with the other coaches (Lisa, Jesiah, Jeremy, Richard, and Patrick) and everyone is top-notch. Highly recommended!

After losing 1% body fat in my 6 week challenge, I decided to partner with her as my 1:1 personal training coach. Lisa meets you where you're at, no matter where you are in your fitness journey or your fitness level. She truly believes in injury prevention, proper form and mechanics, and balanced training. She is a personable, top-notch coach, and I've been getting a lot of compliments about how strong and lean I look after training with her. Her programming is diverse and challenging, and she incorporates what you like into it. Mine are kettlebells and the Landmine. She created a customized workout plan based on my goals and we would review my form and technique when we met. Her plans are sustainable and can be adapted long-term so that you can do your own solo workouts no matter what gym you go to. I've been going to her for 7 months, once a week, and have seen results. My DEXA scan showed a 3.4% decrease in body fat and a 3.5 lb increase in lean mass in 3 months. If you are serious about taking ownership of your fitness journey and want a dedicated partnership, I highly recommend Lisa and can attest to her skills, knowledge, and abilities as a coach.

After experiencing a severe health crisis, divorce, gaining 50 lbs and taking a 5 year hiatus from…read moreexercising, I finally found Coach B and his outdoor SF Bootcamp classes. Slowly, but surely, these classes have transformed my physical health and life over the past 2 years. I love the individualized attention he gives me (and everyone in the class!). He's extremely experienced and skilled. Coming to my first class totally out of shape, 57 years old, and overweight, I was concerned about injuring myself. But with Coach B I always feel safe, heard, and like he has my highest interests at heart. Imo, there is no price tag on that. He also knows when to push me, so I challenge myself and don't only stay in my comfort zone. Slowing, but surely, I am building muscle, getting toned, and getting closer to my healthy weight range. The other "Bootcampers" are incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly. There is zero judgement and lots of support, laughs, and even free coffee. Lastly, he will let you try out your first class for free. No commitment, strings or obligation. If interested, go here: https://www.thecityisourgym.com/ and click on "free bootcamp class". There are 3 locations. My favorite is Ocean Beach!

Coach B is extremely knowledgable (nutrition, kinesiology, physiology, etc.), personable, and genuinely cares about creating a varied, interesting, engaging workout for people of all fitness levels. He's always willing to tailor group classes, so modifications can be made if you want to push harder or you need less intensity. He also fosters a sense of community I have not found with any other exercise group. It only takes a class or two to not only feel like a part of the family, but also to get a sense of Coach B's expertise and sincere interest in the health and well being of his clients. I can't recommend the City is Our Gym highly enough!
