They missed all the promised deadlines, the quality especially in our kitchen is extremely poor, one cabinet they've replaced once and it still doesn't work well, we have 3 other drawers that we can hardly open, a cabinet door badly warped. The cabinets were only installed 4 months ago! They changed two drawers without asking us and they are basically unusable. We had to completely rip out what they put into our pantry and redo it with someone else. The closet they installed is barely better that what you can buy at Home Depot. They never returned phone calls during the project and took weeks to get back to you by email. Now there are parts of the project that are not finished and they are refusing to do anything else. Even though they have the pieces to complete. I have put off writing any kind of review or taking any other actions in the hope that they will make good but they are refusing to even talk with us.

Shawn did the design and permitting for us. We set up under a cost plus model. That's how they work. My wife and I were super worried about this, but reluctantly agreed with our "been in Bend forever and did us right" realtor's recommendation. We fortunately found out that they were incredibly economical in executing the project, and more. Costs came in consistently under their estimates. I don't think that happens very often, and we didn't budget that way, so we were so pleasantly surprised and thrilled that costs came in at/below expectation. They are a small business, and there were times when they were working other projects and our things were on hold. From our experience, as long as Bend contractors are busy, an ideal match customer for their business will be someone with some time flexibility, who wants lower total costs and excellent work. Not to say they were particularly late. They completed the baseline scope of work pretty much on time (a month or two longer than their forecast at project start). We have added a few things, and my sense is they've juggled those asks with bigger projects they're working while trying to attend to when we're planning to be in town/out of town. We're fixing up a second home, so no big deal for us to work within this framework. So if you want great price, great quality, a trustworthy, super friendly and super super competent team to do your project, and you can live with less than perfection on schedule, you can't go wrong with White River. Jeshua initially came by to check out the project and provide an estimate. He is courteous and friendly. His knowledge, experience and insight made us feel confident J&S would do an excellent job. Due to the complex layout of the house, a loft enclose required painting and texturing of the living room and adjacent hallways, along with various areas of patching walls and ceilings. J&S completed the enclosure and challenging paint job on time and close to the estimate. We could not be happier with the results. The entire living room and loft (now bedroom number 3) look brand new. If you hadn't seen the house before you'd never think we did any work on it. Not only did J&S do incredible work, but they were also very clean and considerate. My son has had minor asthma issues in the past so they took extra care in cleaning up dry wall and sanding dust everyday. We went out of town a day before they finished and returned to an extremely clean home. As far as I'm concerned they are the only one contractor in Bend. We purchased the lot, Greg recommend an architect - we did the plans, and Greg built. During the entire process, we dealt with Greg, his office assistant, or foreman (Aaron then Brad). We were IMPRESSED by Greg's staff, as well as all of his subcontractors. We live out of state, and building a home 500 miles away can be stressful. Greg's knowledge and professionalism really helped to reduce stress. ALL of his subs were very responsive, and the job was done onetime, and a bit over budget (but the budget overage was totally our doing, not Greg's). Greg made the process very simple by meeting the subs to pick out materials, etc. The finished product won several awards in the 2011 Central Oregon builders tour of homes - including - best in show - for the price range. A great testament to Greg's attention to detail and professional product. We would (and have already) recommend Greg as a builder to anyone looking for a great product, someone very easy to work with and someone with a great staff/sub-contractors.
