Pretty basic laundromat. The wall colors are hideous or wonderful depending on your mood. There are a few monumental plants strewn here and there. Parts of it stink like a backed up sewer. It works for me because I don't want anything fancy. I tried going to other places and they want you to buy cards and other bs. Here, I bring my own high end non-stinky detergent, get some quarters from the machine and do my laundry. Bam. Lots of folding tables, a place to sit and view odd television, overpriced vending and older machines. Bring your own detergent and go on off times. The area is okay and improving. I've never felt unsafe, but I am male, 6'2" and 230#. Your mileage may vary. The kicker for me is that this is the cheapest place in Rogers Park. It's adequate enough. read more

I have done laundry here since living in the neighborhood. The owner is always kind to me. He brings me carts and helps me bring my clothes inside. I love how clean he keeps the store & is always up for small conversations. Last time I was in, I saw this dude be rude to the owner for picking up a sock the costumer had dropped on the floor while switching his clothes from the washer to the dryer. The costumer told him not to touch his stuff and to not do that again. (Let's just say, the costumer left with a few single socks) Be kind to people. read more

After years of living in the neighborhood, we've come to this laundromat for all our laundry needs. We usually will use drop off service and occasionally will wash inside. The owner and staff have always been nice and, we have always received our clothes clean and fresh up until now . I dropped our blankets off yesterday and picked up today. Upon arriving home and unpacking it all , our blankets /sheets and pillow cases smelt awful!!! I thought maybe they forgot to wash them or a simple mistake happened , either way I sent my husband back to let the owner know & to have them re-washed. The owner refused and swore up and down he washed them ! Crock of crap as the sheets smelt like mildewed washing machine ... the least you can do is rewash them but since the owner is a liar and a crook , he refused. Won't be returning ever and will take our business elsewhere. Such a shame because we always have had a good experience. Hopefully the owner reads this and makes a change should it happen again. read more

I'm not really sure why this place only has one star. I have a washer in my home but my comforter doesn't fit and so I decided to walk across the street to JBs. I read the reviews before I came and I was skeptical because it's rare (for me) for a laundry mat to have one star. So, two things I want to dispel in case you're wondering about coming. 1. This place doesn't smell. It smells....like a laundry mat. You know, detergent..bleach..dirty clothes. 2. The owners are not rude. In fact, before putting my clothes in a certain washer the owner informed me that it was in good condition but moved slower than the rest and proceeded to have conversation. I would say use your best judgement in terms of safety.. better to get it done early in the mornings any way. The prices are your average laundry mat prices. The 18lb washers are 11 quarters 25 lb are 13 40 lb are 17. So about 2.75-4.25 to wash. The dryers are about 10 minutes per quarter you put in. I honestly don't know why people give this place a bad review. The owner is a really funny nice guy who goes out of his way to help customers. When I first moved here I was short a few dollars and without even knowing me, he just lent me the extra I needed to finish the laundry. I come here every week, on different days. This is a small local FAMILY business. They will turn you away if you cuss in the store. Also, the cheapest laundromat I've been to. All the employees ive met have been friendly, respectful, and professional. read more

I wish I could give this place a Zero. It smells, there's not adequate seating, the vending machines are always empty or the candy is out of date, and the dryers will shred your clothes. The cherry on this shitcake is the roach infestation. Seriously, y'all, I found a roach in the detergent compartment of one of the washers. And don't even think about trying to use the change machine if you're not washing your clothes there. Some greasy bastard in sweats will yell at you. I recommend just washing your clothes in the tub. I've been in there several times to do laundry and have had a good experience every time. The person at the front counter always says hi and when I asked a question the first time I went there the man working helped me out. It's clean and someone is always there so your clothes won't get stolen (don't know if that's a thing) but I highly recommend this place. There's also two types of washers depending on your load so you can save some coin if doing a light load of laundry. read more

I was unpleasantly surprised to find my complex doesn't have a laundry, but a neighbor told me about JB's. Personally I really like it. It's clean, and they obviously take care of it; I've seen them take a shop vac to the dryer filters a couple times that I've been there, the lights are always completely on (no blown bulbs), and it smells like a laundromat, maybe a little cleaner smelling than some I've been to. Shop attendant that works weeknights is nice, and the man that works weekend mornings can be a little intense, but he means well. They seem to know the regulars and have good conversations with them! Things that bothers me: *they don't seem to ask people that are using foul language to step outside until they can calm down. I've had to sit through a couple of cell phone fights because of this. It's something I'm getting used to from Chicago, but still very awkward whenever it happens. *"Last wash 8:30pm" means they close at 8:30. They can get pretty disgruntled when you come in and want to start a load after 8, which is understandable...but say last wash at 7 if you want to be out by 8:30/9. read more

I had dropped off my bedding with white and red sheets plus my comforter. When I got them back my white sheets were no longer white but pink and they were still damp. They washed my red and white sheets together, isn't it laundry 101 to wash them separately!? My comforter is now discolored and spotty. I will no longer use their services, which is a shame. read more

I have seen my share of laundromats over the years from Petersburg, VA to Chicago. And what I can tell you is that this place is clean, the machines work and the person on staff is very attentive. Upper Rogers Park is a tough neighborhood to run a business in. People often are loud, speak profanely, allow their kids to run around and use the shopping carts as toys. I have seen this in other neighborhoods in Chicago as well, namely Uptown. But this is the first laundromat where there are clearly written policies about what is not allowed. Everyone who comes in respectful and appreciates the clean space and quiet environment. As a new business owner I know where I will be going to wash my towels. read more

The washers in my building are full and out of order so I decide to go across the street. I head over before I have my partner walk the clothes all the way over to be sure they are open and have available washers. I can't believe what happened next. A person claiming to be the owner comes over and slams the cover over the change machine over my finger gets in my face and says can you read!! I'm completely shocked and my finger is stinging. I say excuse me? Wtf my finger? Then he goes on to call me a racial slur, commonly used to refer to black people, and continued to scream in my face can you read can read nig*#% while his entire body was shaking! I've never been treated like this in my whole life. I don't know if he was on drugs or what. I've lived in Rogers park my whole life and have never had this kind of problem in my Community. This business should close its doors if servicing the members of the community in which it operates is a problem. I will never spend a single cent in that establishment. I encourage all who read this to never go. They don't deserve even the one star. read more

I wish this place had tables so I could use my laptop, but it's serviceable, the washers and dryers are always clean, and I've never had a problem getting change. It's clean and reliable. That's all I ask. read more
