This small town hardware store on the north side of Kenosha is a delight. They have a lot in such a small space and as such things are not always easy to find. However most of the time you are warmly greeted by a knowledgeable sales associate the moment you walk into the store. One of the services they offer is screen repair, I have had patio door screens to small window screens replaced here. They offer several types of screens, I like to pet resistant screens myself. I have never been let down, the screens come back looking awesome! The other day we were in to pick up screens the staff even gifted my child a small toy, it was just a Nice thing to do. I grew up going to this store with my parents and now that I live in Racine I miss going here. All of the workers here are always helpful. I wish this store was by my house with the same helpful workers, but I think it's the amazing location and atmosphere of the town and people! Great job! read more

Today was not a very good experience for us..first time in the store since True Value closed down. Don't let them fool you none the ladies working were very rude, caught one of the employees being snotty and disrespectful to an elderly man. The woman employee was not friendly and was rude as we were checking out she answered the phone and stopped what she was doing for us even without saying she needed to get the call and thank us for being patient. I recently brought six custom sized (very large) wood framed screens into Parkside True Value Hardware for rescreening. The work was done in a professional manner and at a very fair price. The larger chains of big box stores have their place in our economy but I never realized the depth of services offered by these locally owned businesses. Do both yourself and your country a favor by trying to shop these small locally owned neighborhood business locations whenever possible. read more

I have been a loyal True Value customer for a number of years. When Ace came in I was hesitant but open to the change. Dirk and his True Value staff have always been amazing! Its a breath of fresh air to walk into a hardware store and have employees who are actually knowledgeable about the products they sell. I was recently in the store to purchase some finish for a woodworking project. As a professional woodworker I knew what I needed, just not where to find it. Enter Ace employee "Michele"... I asked if the store carried the item I was looking for. Instead of a simple yes or no, I was walked up and down the finish aisle , which I had already done on my own, only to confirm it was not in stock. Then I was condescendingly talked to about alternatives. Again, as a pro woodworker I know what I need and what I don't. Michele proceeded to talk down the True Value system and tell me how nice the Ace system is and how vast the selection is. Only problem, the Ace system won't be up and running until the fall, which does me absolutely no good in the present. Michele's customer service skills are non existent. She should stick to being a brand cheerleader and let Dirk and his KNOWLEDGEABLE staff handle the customers. Give me back my True Value! read more

True Value is mid- century Americana at its finest. The staff is very helpful and down to earth. Parkside True Value store is in immaculate condition. Everything is blocked-and-faced and makes the store shoppable. You'll easily zip through the aisles and find exactly what you're looking for. Though they don't have the capacity of the larger, big-box hardware stores, the stock on-hand is more than enough to help you complete that project or tackle the DIY home improvement. Stop in, say hello, and find a little more than what you came in for. read more

This old-fashioned store is a pleasure to have around. I hope they survive for many years. Employees are nice and helpful. The store has a good supply of just about everything a hardware store would have, but does not carry a large variety of anything. If you are shopping here for the basics, you will find them. But if you have sophisticated projects or need lots of variety, you might need to make a second trip to a larger hardware store. This is a great place to have in the community.
