It's 4 year in a row now the system failed to produce the minimum guaranteed production. AWS Solar chose to compensate for the shortfall again; we'll see what the 5th year production looks like. I suggested replacing some of the panels with the higher power ones to solve the issue, but I guess they want to see more data.

I hired AWS Solar to install solar panels on my home In May 2026. They completed the job a few…read moreweeks later. They did a very good jod. I am pleased. However, upon completeing the job, the project manager Tim Broughton called me, helped me log on to the Enphase app so that I could monitor the panels. After I confirmed that I was logged in, I was told that I was up and running And they were done. I was happy thinking I was now running on the sun. Wrong. So very wrong. I received my electric bill and astonished to see the electric portion was over $800.00. I called the power company and was told that the $130.00 application fee had not been paid. I notified Mr. Broughton and he immediatley saw that the bill for the application fee was paid and apologized for the error. Now the fun begins. I called the power company and asked when they would be out to install the proper meter for solar panels. I was informed that no application for a meter to be installed was on file and that I had to submit an application for interconnection. Hmm? No one mentioned anything to me about completing and application or that I had to contact the power company. I completed the PTO (Permission to Operate) form and based on the questions being asked and the information I needed to provide leads me to believe the Solar company was responsible for completing this form and sending the required fee. Ok. Lets not look to for someone to blame, lets just get the proper meter installed. I completed the PTO and submitted it. The power company came out a couple of weeks later and installed the a new meter. Onlyit was not a meter for solar panels. They installed the same new meter but it was the same meter as the meter I already had. I asked them why they didn't put on a solar meter and I was told that I needed to submit a PTO for a SOLAR METER, which is different. And by the way, they have a special person that installs solar meters and a special person to install regular meters. This seemed rather stupid to me. I ask the power comapany rep for the contact info for the solar department and he told he didn't know. I won't name the power company. LADwp. The one good thing the DWP rep did upon arriving to his office was to send an email to contact the proper department at the power company. I assumed he would have just gone about his business and let me flounder. I started on the second application which asked for job site photos. This was to me another indication that the solar installer was suppose to complete this form because Joe Citizen would not know what photos they were required. I did observe that periodically, the workers would take photos, but none were ever sent to me. Now I'm in the middle of August 2026 with fingers, legs, arms, eyes and anything else, maybe the dogs and cats, crossed hoping that this time I will get a meter. The bottom line is I would still recommend AWS SOLAR to anyone, but I'd have to caution them to make sure they get you connected and ALL fees are paid. Because I was dealing with the City of LA and being constantly sent to voice mail and waiting for call backs, this experience was horrendous.

I originally had a positive experience with California Solar Electric during my 10.12 kW solar and Powerwall 3 installation last year. Unfortunately, their post-install customer support and business ethics are nonexistent. I referred a friend who completed their installation months ago. I was explicitly promised a $500 referral bonus for this. After months of waiting, I tried following up multiple times privately to give them a chance to make it right, but I am now being completely ignored. It's a shame because I have several neighbors here in Fountain Valley who are currently shopping around for solar and battery storage. I was planning to refer them here, but I cannot recommend a company that fails to honor its own written agreements and ducks communication. Buyer beware: the installation team does good work, but do not trust a word management says about referral incentives or post-sale promises. Still waiting for my $500.

I felt confident enough to sign the contract within two days. Before choosing them, I had gathered multiple quotes through a solar marketplace. Because it was a busy season due to the Federal rebate impending sunset on Dec 31st, 2025, most vendors were slow to respond as everyone was trying to rush to meet the Dec 31st deadline. Some installers had contract clauses I simply couldn't agree to. Johnny's pricing was not cheap but upfront and transparent. No hidden conditions, no questionable fine print, and no pressure tactics. Just a price backed by professionalism. And you get what you pay for. I am glad I chose them. They began pulling permits the following week, and the project moved quickly. By mid‑November 2025, they had installed a 10.78 kW solar system with 20 kW of Enphase batteries. I chose Enphase microinverters, which allow me to monitor each panel individually through the Enphase app -- a huge advantage over systems that only show total production. The installation crew was super courteous, kind, efficient, and clearly knew what they were doing. They kept the worksite tidy throughout the job and made sure everything was spotless when they finished. Then came the part most installers hesitate to commit to: Permission to Operate (PTO) from Edison. Nearly every other company I spoke with told me they could not guarantee PTO by year‑end. Johnny didn't make unrealistic promises either, but he did explain that Simi Valley's building department is efficient and that Edison typically processes PTO quickly once everything is submitted. He was right. I received PTO on December 10, 2025, well ahead of my December 31st deadline -- giving me plenty of time to secure the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit without any stress. The system has been performing flawlessly. Over the last six months, my electric bills -- which used to average $280-$300 per month -- have dropped to just $22. I also want to highlight Enphase's customer service, which has been outstanding. I informed them that the panels were still under warranty and that they should be replaced under warranty. They were not happy with my response. After three months of being led under the impression they were on top of this with the manufacturer, I found out that nothing was done. I started to look for a local installer and notice that Next Door was located near me. This business had great reviews and was a platinum Enphase installer. I went into the office without an appointment and met with Johnny Rhee. I met with him for approximately half an hour and went through different options. He assisted me with the paperwork and other items needed by solar manufacturer. I dealt with the manufacturer directly. After a couple of months my claim was approved. The two replacement panels were shipped to Next Door directly. I arranged with Johnny for the installation. Two techs came out today and installed the new panels. They were great to deal with. I am happy with the work they did. After today, if my system needs and type of maintenance or upgrade, my first call with be to Next Door Home Upgrades. They were honest, kind, understanding, and very helpful to me.

He answered all of my questions and genuinely made me feel like I was working with a real person, not a faceless big solar company or door-to-door charlatan. His pricing was about average for the market, but the service was easily 10/10. A couple of days after turning the system on, Marco proactively reached out to let me know my battery was showing an error code. He sent someone out and had it resolved within a few hours. I thought the installation itself had gone well. They installed the system in two days and everything looked great. Then, I had to wait for the meter collar to be installed. I was told it was going to be performed by their technician. Turns out it has to be done by SCE and that had not been scheduled. After I called again, SCE was finally notified. SCE arrived several days later to discover the cables were too short to install the meter. Now I have wait again for OC solar to come out again and fix this issue and wait again for SCE to finally install the meter so that I can use my new system. I hope the system works.

What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

He recommended that we get a new one and stopped his work immediately and adjusted pricing to follow. Overall will absolutely use his services again because we definitely need to get these ducts clean more than once and he was the right guy for the job.

Employees and owners in this business go out of their way to ensure that the customer is satisfied and gets real value. Consideration was given to exactly when we wanted to install (to the extent that could be accommodated; this company is in high demand), my phone calls were always answered live or returned shortly thereafter; thought was given to how to route the pipes that connect to the panels to ensure that installation was cosmetically pleasing (they were even willing to paint some of my pipes in grey when I provided paint rather than straight black or white); and most importantly, you could be comfortable with these folks at your house, because they really care. They went the extra mile, explaining some things about how my newly installed PentAir panel should be wired to ensure I could use my pool, despite the fact that this is beyond the scope of work one should expect. . We had JC Solar install a solar pool heater while getting our roof redone. They did a fantastic job, we had a unique situation where I wanted most of the heater installed on two flat portions on either side of a NE facing roof. While other companies had comparable pricing they calculated only six panels, less then 80% coverage could fit on the flat sections. Mike, who did our installation, acquired half sized panels in addition to full ones allowing 8 panels to fit. This gave 100% coverage for our 20000 gallon pool which maintained at least 84 degrees (up to 90 degrees) all summer (no pool cover) which our family very much enjoyed. Additionally Marco was great to work with and very accommodating with the roofing company we used, answered or returned all phone calls promptly, and the whole system was installed in one day as scheduled. I was totally pleased and satisfied with the arrangements we made with JC Solar. JC Solar was recommended to me by a local pool designer and online reviews of the company were great. The price quote was competitive and included high quality solar panels. Communication from the office was great as we scheduled the installation date. The system was installed in just one day. The team who did our installation was super-experienced and worked with me to make decisions about plumbing and panel location on the roof. I really couldn't have been happier with how this went. Impossible to say enough good things about this company. We've had our pool for over a year but just added thermal solar. It has been operating for over a month and the difference in enjoyment of the pool is incredible. The system JC Solar designed for us works unbelievably well. This company should teach other companies how to treat their customers. The person working the office was friendly and patient. The person who gave us the estimate was a total pro. And the installer who put in the system also helped me understand how to program the Aqualink, which it was integrated into easily. Joe Coletto is the best! He responded to my request for solar in a very timely manner and had Bruce came over and sized everything up. Within 3 weeks of giving me the estimate my solar was installed. My pool has been 85 degrees all summer long and even now that it is cooling down the kids are always bugging me to get in our pool because it is always so nice and warm. Nice to pay $0 to have 85 degree water for the last 4 months and we still have another month of swimming. This was a no brainer and it will eventually pay itself off. JC Solar was recommended to us by California Pools. We contacted Matthew Ferrari, salesmen and made a appointment. He came to our home for a estimate, and gave us a price the following day. The price was better then we expected, and we signed the contract the following day. True to his word, his crew showed up as soon as our pool was completed. The job was completed in one day. Despite how hectic that time was, he had my system fully installed and running just over a month later, in early December. Beyond the end result, the overall experience was outstanding. If I texted Marco, his average response time was probably around 15 minutes. He answered all of my questions and genuinely made me feel like I was working with a real person, not a faceless big solar company or door-to-door charlatan. His pricing was about average for the market, but the service was easily 10/10. A couple of days after turning the system on, Marco proactively reached out to let me know my battery was showing an error code. He sent someone out and had it resolved within a few hours. That level of attentiveness and follow-through really sets him apart.

It took a while and some patience, but these were eventually resolved. They finally agreed to give me a refund for the electricity that I had been charged for while they resolved the problems. Then, during the first rain this year, the power went out and the backup battery did not kick in. I contacted them and never heard back. Fortunately, it wasn't a long outage and the neighborhood's power came back on in about six hours . When the power went out again a couple of days later, the system finally kicked in. But... they had never gotten back to me as the company responsible for servicing us, so I'm not sure if they fixed it or it just started working on its own. They also failed to apply for a $2500 rebate that I have coming and now they don't return messages to me OR to the company that hired them in the first place due to some kind of falling out. Overall, VERY poor communication and service. I've been really patient, but I am not down for being outright ignored. For this reason I cannot recommend them.

What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

He didn't try to upsell or push me into anything. He simply gave me straightforward information, answered every question, and let me decide at my own pace. I felt confident enough to sign the contract within two days. Before choosing them, I had gathered multiple quotes through a solar marketplace. Because it was a busy season due to the Federal rebate impending sunset on Dec 31st, 2025, most vendors were slow to respond as everyone was trying to rush to meet the Dec 31st deadline. Some installers had contract clauses I simply couldn't agree to. Johnny's pricing was not cheap but upfront and transparent. No hidden conditions, no questionable fine print, and no pressure tactics. Just a price backed by professionalism. And you get what you pay for. I am glad I chose them. They began pulling permits the following week, and the project moved quickly. And the level of monitoring access with Enphase -- including individual panel monitoring -- is something many other inverter systems simply cannot provide. He assisted me with the paperwork and other items needed by solar manufacturer. I dealt with the manufacturer directly. After a couple of months my claim was approved. The two replacement panels were shipped to Next Door directly. I arranged with Johnny for the installation. Two techs came out today and installed the new panels. They were great to deal with. I am happy with the work they did. After today, if my system needs and type of maintenance or upgrade, my first call with be to Next Door Home Upgrades.
