After our 20 year old heat pump failed, it was time for a replacement. After contacting 5 different companies in the area, we decided to go with JCO for a Daikin model. They did a fantastic job, finished a few hours early and the install was professional, neat and tidy. (The install team was a real pleasure to work with as well!) What's interesting is when we purchased our home 5 years ago, we hired them to look over the existing old system. What was great is that they mentioned 3 or 4 things that needed to be repaired, but also said they were things I could do myself much cheaper. So, instead of me paying a few thousand dollars for simple repairs, I did it myself for a few hundred. So, not only did they help me squeeze 5 more years out of the old system at a minimal cost, they proved honest and ethical HVAC companies DO exist, which is the primary reason they got our business. An electrician arrived on time to install a new Kitchen Range outlet to replace an old hookup that was wired into the wall. After evaluating the situation, he determined that due to the old installation, he would have to do some minor cosmetic changes which was not a problem for me. He completed the task while carrying on some conversations with me. Very friendly and very efficient. I have never had a problem working with any people from JCO. read more

I went by ratings and tried this company. They said it would be $135.00/hour, which seemed expensive, but I needed heat. Todd (he was great) came out and found the problem, the last guy never connected it to the ceiling power. He redid it and programmed it and Amen, I finally had heat! He replaced one outlet that had burnt (yikes) and turned on 2 other outlets that were out due to a GFCI button that simply needed to be reset (press a button, how embarrassing). I then took him around to discuss other things I needed quotes on, including a new heating system. I gave him a list to take with him. Here's the rub, I expected a charge of @ $270.00 which seemed a bit high for what was done but I got heat and thought I was good. Instead, I got a bill for $371.25, a $100.00 more! I called about it and Melissa said oh well it took him 1/2 hr. to get there so $67.50 more. They never said there's a charge to come out; and the rest was for his time here; in other words I also PAID for showing him all the other work I needed done for a quote and even gave them a list. I received no quote as that wasn't Todd's job (not his fault). When I disagreed with this billing amount Melissa said it's time there AND getting there, not just by what's done nor discussed. Needless to say, this lack of transparency and overcharge will cost them dearly, like a new heating system for starters. Don't recommend this company, unless you don't mind being nickel and dimed by 100s for non-stated charges. Silly me for asking to get other work done. Any other company doesn't charge for quotes, but I'm glad I found out BEFORE I had anything expensive done! Their bigtime loss but enjoy your nickels! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They took advantage of my elderly aunt and convinced her to spend over $3,000 for a new compressor. Well, less than 3 years later the compressor failed and they told us it was only under a 1 year warranty. They didn't even disclose this or the benefit of purchasing a new unit with a much longer warranty. This company is not to be trusted in my opinion! We've hired JCo twice for work on our mini split system. I didn't do much shopping around the first time and we had a positive experience so I just went to them again recently. From what I've heard, their rates are comparable or better than other businesses. The one issue I have with JCo is their scheduler. I'm not sure if it was the same woman this year as it was last summer, but each time I've called to make an appointment, I have been very specific on what we need done. Each time, the service was set for the wrong thing (basic maintenance when it wasn't that) and so when the tech shows up they weren't prepared for what needed to be done and/or not enough time was scheduled for our appointments. On our most recent appointment, the tech was noticeably irritated about it and commented something that led us to believe this wasn't the first time it had happened... If I was rating on the techs alone, I wouldn't hesitate for give 5 stars all the way! They are always on time, respectful, and even with the scheduling hiccups have been able make it work and get our service done. The last guy made multiple trips back to our house in the same day in between his other jobs just to get it done. read more

This is a five-star review about a professional error. We live far from Eugene but own a rental there, which makes contracting large projects feel somewhat risky. I like to meet the people I work with, and inspect things personally, but that is rarely practical with this house. Furthermore, the house is occupied by vulnerable tenants; keeping things comfortable is crucial! This was a somewhat complex project, as we were tearing out the old natural gas furnace ("it's dead, Jim") and replacing it with a modern heat pump. JCo gave us a detailed quote for furnace removal and heat pump installation at three price levels. Discussions with Craig, a principal at the company, resulted in agreement with his recommendation that the middle level was the "sweet spot" between cost and performance. The fancy high-end unit reduces heating bills using variable vane technology ("VVT"), but it's a LOT more expensive. We signed and returned their bid, and awaited installation day. That day, we didn't get a heat pump. Instead we got a phone call, informing us that the estimator who first crawled the attic had slightly mis-measured the available space. It was less than an inch of error, but would require re-framing the attic or tearing a hole in the roof to make the furnace unit fit. I swallowed very hard. We were in a tight spot (pun possibly intended). Summer heat was already a problem, and the winter was coming on. Then Craig quietly said, "We'll just put in the VVT unit." That's the costly one. VERY costly... And then he added, "That's on us. We're not gonna charge you for our mistake." The heat pump is in, and it's fantastic, but the real jewel of this episode is JCo. They are literally better than their word. I would do business with JCo again in a heartbeat. read more

I worked with Craig at JCo to get a split pump for heat and AC with the help of a grant from EWEB. You are required to get three bids. Craig suggested that I have a low wall unit installed but kept the cost down so I could manage it. He always promptly answered my emailed questions. After I selected JCo, the installation date was scheduled within a few weeks even though we were in the middle of the hottest summer ever. The crew for the installation was polite and worked quickly and professionally. I was worried about them having enough room in the crawl space, but they were able to get through so the outside unit is out of site. I needed my pellet stove taken out to the driveway so I could sell it and they did that without a problem and patched up the hole nicely. I'm so happy to have the ductless heat/AC pump installed. We had a great experience with JCO. We needed some electric panels updated and some work done in our kitchen and garage. The electricians were very friendly and efficient and out of the three estimates I received from different companies theirs was the best. We haven't had any issues so far with the work that was done and we plan to hire them again when we need more. The only thing I wish they didn't do was charge a fee to use a debit card. I had Comfort Flow Heating and Associated Heating. Comfort Flow worked on a very old AC unit, and never was fixed right. I used it three times and it never worked right. That cost me 685.12. Associated installed a ductless in my living room and that worked for about a couple of months. I called them for about a year and a half. I had to get a third party involved to get Associated to come and fix the problem. The outside unit was replaced-defected. I wanted to put two more ductless in my home. I went online looking for reviews. I am happy to say I found Jco. They installed two ductless in my home. No problems the Techs were on time and wore booties over their shoes the installation went great. If you want the best, give Jco a call, you will be so pleased and happy that you did. L. Jason came out and did a diagnostic for 60 bucks, then Craig came out again to "quote" it after cancelling one appt to pick up a bbq he had won. I have not heard a word since. I called multiple times for the quote but they completely blew me off. Melissa, in the office, was actually quite rude. What a waste of time and money. When the owner blew off my first appt to pick up a bbq, I guess I should have known then that JCO is flakey and not about customer service. Edit: Bryan, another owner, called to threaten me with legal action for posting this review. I told him to bring it as every single word is true. I am very sad to right a negative review on this local company, I should have done one when they did the install, but; I love to support local. We had some issues with the install but overlooked them. I have had an on going situation since the install with the water run off from the unit running down our driveway/walkway. Because of the water run off freezing on the driveway/walkway; I called them to see if they could help me redirect the water flow from the cement to the flower bed just inches from the unit they installed. The liability of the freezing water on the walk way was a major issue in someone one slipping and falling and told them of this concern and asked to have them help rectify this dangerous situation. In addition the cement work itself could suffer issues from the freezing water on it. I must have called every day, and was told that they would have someone call me. Everyone I talked to did not know who to have help me and said they would pass along my messages and get back to me. NO ONE DID. I even left messages with the owner Craig and asked hime to call me back as well to get help with the new unit they just installed. After more calls and messages than I can care to imagine and being very patient and respectful of community events; I was blown off and not treated with professional care in any manner. They had been paid in full for the service, so one can only assume they were done and didn't need to do any more more. After about 2 or more months of attemps of waiting for help and now the temps have now started to freeze this run off of water it has now been very dangerous to my customers. I finally called another professional company who came out and fixed the situation within days of my call. They told me the parts missing should have been on the unit and came with it and should have been on it at time of install and redirecting the water with a small hose was a very easy fix. So at my cost and risk of someone getting hurt, had to pay someone else to replace a missing part and help fix the situation. Saddens me that they do not value their customers after they have been paid. read more

JCO came to the home I rent and replaced the entire furnace and air conditioning system. The new furnace is excellent and works great. The outside AC unit was placed in a very odd position. I know there are codes dictating how far unit has to be from house and such but it is set almost right in the middle of the sidewalk access in to back yard. The other thing I am disappointed with is the new lines that were installed through the attic are right in the way of the access at top of the ladder. I have boxes of stuff and items stored in the attic and now it is going to be difficult to say the least to move them out of the attic or put anything else up there. I can't imagine what they were thinking to install it like that instead of making them like the old lines(which they left in place) which are nicely installed and routed in a nice way. My wife said one of the installers was singing loudly the whole time and was annoying her but the system works great other than the install issues I mentioned it is nice. read more

Considering COVID is still a really concerning issue at this time, I was very upset to see that the technicians showed up to my house and were not wearing a mask, or put one on at any time during the installation. They were able to install within a very short time, so very little wait time. I also had a very small electrical issue that they were willing to complete for me which was not a part of the install. I wanted to beat the December deadline for a ductless heat pump energy rebate, and they scheduled me within a week. They installed a complicated system, (which required routing cables through a retaining wall in the crawl space from the front fuse box to the rear elevation) in half a day while I was at work. He was to replace the refrigerant, evaluate the system (unnecessary), put vacuum on it, etc. What it turned out to be was: The defrost switch & a bad board. Total cost with local Veneta, OR company was $350. Your company was to do way too much! Also, charge way too much that was totally unnecessary. This last summer I had to get a new ac system installed, as my wife was pregnant with our 2nd child. We were on a very tight budget so I made sure to do a lot of research on this. I had 3 different companies come out and give us a quote. I would have to say out of the 3 jco was not the cheapest of the 3. But I was very impressed with the time they spent asking me questions about what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. After talking for about an hr and hearing about the company I was 100% sure I made the right choice in who I was going with. Not only do they give back to the community they are from but they hire from the same. The install was very professional and considerate of my home. Making sure not to scratch my new wood floor or make a mess. This was the best decision I could have made in a company. My heat pump hadn't been serviced in a while and wasn't working right and I was nervous calling someone because I thought it would cost a ton to get it serviced and fixed. I did some research and saw some good online reviews and their BBB rating is A+. I called and they came out the very next day. The technician was very pleasant and friendly and diagnosed the issue right away. He explained about common parts that need to be replaced and let me know some of the symptoms so I know when to call and gave me ballpark estimates. In the end he serviced the heat pump and furnace and fixed the heat pump within an hour - all for a very reasonable price (not a lot more than what some charge for just a service). (One company didn't show up at all...not a good way to get business.) They came in lowest on the job bid, compared to exactly the same systems elsewhere. I just purchased a new heat pump and indoor heater/air conditioner from Jco. I had 4 bids from different companies and Jco came in with the lowest bid. I like the fact that they would put a new pad behind my house and run pipes from there, rather than putting pipes over my sidewalk from where the previous heat pump sat on my patio. This freed up the patio with no pipes overhead. Three trucks arrived yesterday right on time, about a month after I signed the contract. The other companies had longer waiting periods in the heat of summer. I live in a manufactured home so I did not want to wait any longer than necessary because these things heat up! The installers introduced themselves and got right to work. They were respectful, hardworking, and took care not to dirty anything up. They labeled my power switches and explained everything to me while answering my questions. I am extremely impressed. The two owners who are brothers were both personable and treated me like a friend. Jco hires a third party, Premium Efficiency, to do extensive testing to be sure the system is as efficient as can be. That way, they can ensure that everything is working properly and efficiently. If I could give Jco 10 stars I would. We recently moved to the area and needed an HVAC company for an emergency repair. I did my research and found Jco. So happy I did! The fine folks at Jco came out the next day, explained the situation and fixed it. Fast forward 8 months, to when it was necessary to replace and expand our entire HVAC system. Craig was full of information, honest about what we needed and was happy (or acted it! :) to answer all of my questions. The install was supposed to be 5 days, they finished in three and did lots of other things that weren't even a part of the job without changing the bid. They treated our house like it was their own, and left it looking better than it was before they got here. When our 30 year old system finally kicked the bucket we called out 4 different highly rated local companies to give us some bids on a new furnace and a/c unit. JCo were the second company to come out and we nearly decided that day to go with their bid based on how great an experience we had during the quote. They sent an actually technician, not a salesperson, who knew our old system and didn't try to oversell us on a new one (which happened with the 3 other bids). He was down to earth, honest and was all around a really nice human being. The business office was helpful in getting our financing set up and helping us manage the appointments for measurements, inspections and installations. Installation day was painless and all the folks they sent out were friendly and knew what they were doing. They had everything installed and updated our electrical by the end of the day and the business office even scheduled our inspection for us with the city. This is our first home and we've had a few big repairs in the last several years and some nightmare experiences. Dealing with high cost repairs is stressful and when you are newbies like us you hope you don't get dooped into something you don't need. Super happy! I'm selling a house and the buyers asked me to do some HVAC repair that their home inspector caught. I send the pictures to Jco and they gave me a "guesstimate" so I could be more informed with my decision making when negotiating a the repairs. They "guesstimated" $500-$750, and I ended up getting the work done. $605 was the bill.
