Our heating has been on again off again for awhile. My wife contacted Alpine on a Wednesday, and they gave us an appointment time on Thursday. The technician showed up on time, and even gave a heads up call 15 minutes before he arrived. The techinican was CJ. I explained the multiple things going wrong with the heat pump and emergency heat, what worked sometimes, and what didn't work, and how things were intermittent. CJ was very attentive and listened carefully. He went to work and explained things to me as he went through his troubleshooting. It turns out there were two things wrong inside: 1) a sequencer for the emergency heat coils was malfunctioning partially sometimes and not working at all other times 2) a safety switch that is triggered when backflow occurs had stopped working, which turned the heat pump off. Outside, the unit was low on freon so he pumped in 4.5 pounds, along with a dye so that when he comes by in two weeks he can use a light to see where the leak(s) may be. Our heating works like it is supposed to now, and I am confident everything will continue to work, and CJ will come back it two weeks and wrap things up. Had alpine come give us a estimate on replacement of heat and air and was told that we were going to get our ducts cleaned for free. We'll after we had the system installed they said oh that's a 900.00 cleaning and sorry but we are not doing it! (After we had a 17,500 system installed) we won't be using alpine again! Our Alpine‑installed Lennox HVAC system failed after only five years when the compressor motor died. Even though the part was fully covered under warranty, Alpine insisted we pay for the labor, $1,100 in refrigerant, and the $125 service fee. When I questioned the charges, they simply threw the warranty at me and pointed to the line saying refrigerant isn't covered -- as if that excused a failure that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Their original bill came to $1,750 for a problem that wasn't ours to begin with. Being charged for someone else's mistake just doesn't sit right with me. I asked multiple times for the service manager to call me so we could discuss the charges. He didn't call until two weeks after the repair was already completed. He claimed he had called several times, but after checking my call log, he had only called once -- and didn't leave a message. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work and communicates honestly, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

We worked with Alpine a couple of years ago to install a heat pump for a room addition on our house. They did such a terrific job, we've had them back several times since to replace our main HVAC system, replace our aging water heater with a new tankless model, install a generator, and replace our electric panel. The Alpine team has always been professional, timely, knowledgeable, and efficient, and have consistently taken time to explain their work and get us up to speed on the systems the installed. They've always been proactive in following up on any concerns and letting us know of schedule changes -- lots of much-appreciated communication. VERY highly recommended! read more

We called to have our heater worked on. One of the workers walked out with a $1000.00 camera. When I called the owner he stated I am sure you will find it. This has happened before and the item was found. Let me add it's really difficult to misplace a professional camera. There was never any attempt made by Alpine to make this right. Alpine has been visiting our house annually for several years to evaluate and maintain our heat pump systems. They always send a pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient technician who does the job well, reports his findings and leaves his work area clean. Today Justin was no exception, quick, efficient, smiling. He reported his findings completely and arrived and left when he said he would. Our cost was reasonable. I have great confidence in Alpine. More important: the house is warm in the winter and cool in the summer and the air filtration system works well. read more

Two stars are only for the fine women doing the dispatching, especially April, who deserve better than the, smirking, angry jerk the company sent out to inspect my home. Wait, did I say inspect? This guy did absolutely nothing of the kind. Instead, he lectured me about the impossibility of my problem (a nearby neighbor's noxious cooking and charcoal grilling odors seeping through my vents and window frames). How and why is that impossible? It's only that he didn't want to deal with it and (mostly) didn't want to deal with me. Class, cultural, political issues were all part of it, I strongly suspect. So I was charged $125 for a condescending lecture from Mr. Disgruntled about how the odors were non-existent and all some crazy concoction of mine. And if by chance they were real, they could never, ever come through vents! Whaaat? His genius solution? Use painters tape around my door frame and never open any windows EVER. Oh gee, thanks A miserable experience, courtesy of an angry little man. I'd be very careful using Alpine for anything but straightforward HVAC installation. read more

Warning!!! Read the reviews and look at the star ratings I've given this company multiple chances and thousands of dollars. They do not value your time, nor do they provide quality work without being monitored. They have cost me hours and hours of time and this last time they gave me a window of 2:00-4:00 for a service appointment. I left work to make sure I was home by 2:00. At 3:58 I got a text the person was on the way. I called and asked what "on the way" meant to them. They said he was just leaving Cottage Grove. I live near Veneta, so it was going to be at least another 30-40 minutes before they would arrive. I said cancel the appointment, I'm done wasting time and money. Reynolds has the same service for $99 and they show up on-time. I'm done and would highly recommend you don't even start. FYI - I've talked with the owner about other issues and he's very little help, basically couldn't care less. read more

5 weeks for a rough in?! Hard to put into words how frustrating our experience with Alpine has been. They started rough-in on our second story addition September 16, and finished October 17. That's 5 weeks to do a rough in I was initially told would take around 5 days. Rescheduled us over and over and over until I called and broke down in tears out of frustration; their response--from both the install scheduler and the install manager--was that they didn't realize this job "had any urgency". So if I hadn't called several times to pressure them to come finish rough-in, it would have taken LONGER than five weeks, since they weren't aware there was "urgency", and apparently if they don't know your job has "urgency" you should expect it to take at least 5 weeks. Came out one day with the completely wrong furnace. Came out one day with insufficient ducting. The install manager tried to tell me one of the things slowing them down was a wall that wasn't yet framed; I told him the nearest duct work from that wall is 2 supply vents, 65 inches from that wall, in the existing floor on existing foundation. One day a different sub contractor had to tell them to quit blasting music that was full of foul language and racial slurs, since my family (including 2 children) is living on the property; my son was running around in the backyard while their music dropped the N-word over and over. Wrapped the return ducting around a truss--literally encased a truss in ducting, since they didn't take trusses into account when they did the measure-up. The ductwork that's encasing a truss looks so bad that even the plumber and electrician both commented on how "rough" it is. Didn't consider where the gas exhaust for our furnace would go during measure up. When they finally did complete rough-in and we tried to start up the furnace, found that it was wired wrong and wouldn't run, so we had to call them to come out again. The install manager told me twice at the end of the job he'd call me back the next day to discuss reducing the price of labor due to the total lack of follow through on rough in, but instead 2 days later I got a call from a salesman, who didn't know anything about why I was upset, didn't know that the manager had promised twice to call me, and raised his voice at me and interrupted throughout the call, saying he couldn't understand how hvac not being complete could possibly slow down my electrician in any way, and trying to tell me my contractor is dishonest instead of just owning the fact that I was rescheduled for a full month. As it was, the electrician did start while we were waiting on their five week rough in to complete, and hvac installers stepped on and bent some of the can lights that had been installed. Still waiting to hear whether they're going to come down on their bid for all the trouble they caused, or if I'm going to have to file through the CCB. I can't think of many ways for them to have made our experience with them more frustrating, and we have so much regret for choosing them over a smaller company. read more

Yes 1 day service to come out and try to fix your HVAC and that would have been great if it was fixed! But if they can't 2 weeks to get an estimate of $3500+ $$$$ Gave up on them getting back to me after 10 days and called another HVAC company and they came out and had me fixed and running in less than half an hour for cost of a service call $ with no new expensive parts needed. Lucky for me Alpine took so long to get my estimate emailed to me, weather really Hot! that I gave up and saved myself a lot of money and have a cool house! read more

I called yesterday, got a 12-8 window today and he was able to come at 10am and quickly resolved the issue, and at a very reasonable price, along with some advice to avoid the issue in the future. I know the heat wave has produced challenges for local HVAC companies but Alpine really came through for us after two other companies did not, including the company we've been using for regular maintenance of our system the last couple of years. I do not recommend this company for HVAC systems. After the system was installed, it was blowing out cold air. I had to call in to get it serviced. I spoke with a manager. That manager never called me back. The person who serviced the system said that the installers had not recorded the pressure in the system. read more

Last fall we had a ductless system installed by Alpine. The installing technicians were prompt and appeared quite efficient. The system was not providing heat like I expected during the winter. I called their office three times with questions, never really received an answer and was bot treated respectfully. When you have an investment like one would expect paper work on it's operation and possibly video. The only thing that we received was a receipt. While the technicians were competent and professional, management was lame and nearly non-existent. I had my old heat pump replaced, and the new unit was DOA out of the box. All I got was a boilerplate apology and sending a guy out to fix it. So I paid $8,000 for a field reconditioned unit instead of a new unit, and a badly installed air handler. Cody (the install manager) never once came out to inspect the install, couldn't lift a finger to "make things right", and his only concern was money. After everything was fixed and patched together, the kid hands me his iphone to sign and says you owe me $8,000. No invoice, no paperwork, just gimmie the money. He was extremely embarrassed at being forced by Cody to do something not part of his job description. Bottom line - stay away from Alpine Heating and Air Conditioning! read more

We had a ductless unit go out recently and it wasn't producing cold air. Alpine worked with us even though originally they weren't the original installing company to help us get this fixed. Even at one point when struggling to diagnose the issue they ended up holding off on the billing to help us due to the cost rising over what we had originally budgeted for. Well they didn't install our system. Spent 3 hours trying to talk us into ducted system which we didn't want. Got a nice quiet ductless system installed by a competitor for half the price of ducted in only a day weeks before Alpine could have. Not sure why they pushed so hard for the type of system we didn't want. But I have no idea how good their systems are. Been having trouble my system since winter. It was looked at and repaired, yet it just limped along. It would run constantly, but never actually heating or cooling efficiently. It breathed it's final breath last week. Today Jason from Alpine came in and in a short period of time found the issue. Capacitor. Out came the old one and in with the new. Horrible "service" throughout the company. I wish I could put Negative stars. Our furnace went out on a Friday and we called at 1pm, the lady in the office decided to curse my girlfriend out and went on to say they were going to charge us after hour rates (which actually start at 5pm) if we wanted a technician out that day. So we waited until Monday and the tech condemned our furnace (which he should have, Carbon monoxide was blowing into our home) and he decided to steal parts out of our furnace (which is illegal). We have been out of heat for 2 weeks and the warranty company is still waiting for Alpine to send in their bid. Alpine is ignoring phone calls from us and the warranty company, and all we want is to be able to heat our house. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any kind of customer service. The only reason we haven't gone with another company is because the warranty company has a contract with Alpine, and we would have to void the high cost of the warranty we paid and pay completely out of pocket. We had a new HVAC system installed about a year ago. After a few months I started noticing our natural gas bill was higher than it'd ever been and also started smelling something coming up through the vents into the house. My husbands nose isn't very good so when I'd mention smelling something off he said he couldn't smell anything. In the last couple of months the smell got so bad in the guest bathroom I was keeping the door shut with the fan on but a few days ago I woke up to the smell in our bedroom and I went and shut down the vents in the house. Thankfully we had previously scheduled our yearly maintenance with Alpine and my husband asked the tech to check for leaks when he showed up. My husband said the gas detector was going crazy and he realized the heater has been leaking all this time. My husband called the Manager and there was no apology, no offer for the filter replacement, nothing. We're thankful the Tech figured out the problem and is fixing it. Side note, we're actually being charged for the filter replacement after finding out their shoddy installation could have killed us in our sleep. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF USING ANY OTHER COMPANY!! Alpine's electricians and installers and management are the kindest, hard working, most competent people you could ever want. My heat pump died the week before this terrible life endangering heat wave. I am very elderly with several severe physical disabilities and live in a metal manufactured house which heats up better than my oven! Alpine's kind management, when informed that the dog and I were on the verge of fainting in the house which was over 105 degrees inside, sent their installation team over the next day, despite their schedule being backed up. Alpine's price was competitive and the equipment is highly rated. I am pretty certain Alpine literally saved my life, because I had no where else to stay or live and the temp is expected to go to 114 degrees this weekend. The two electricians, the two installers, the supervisors, and the owner were all cheerful, pleasant, and worked no-stop from about 8:30 am to 8 pm to get the new heat pump up and working beautifully with no problems or "hitches". I made sandwiches for lunch and they barely stopped working long enough to eat and to rest a little All the Alpine employees were kind people I felt very lucky to have in my house. I could write forever, but I could never fully express my gratitude to Alpine's wonderful employees. read more

Brandon, the sales rep sent to us by Alpine, arrive 30 minutes late, spent 30 minutes and left saying he had another call to make. He called after 5 pm to say he had some time to look at our Mitsubishi ductless system and he arrived at 5:30 in the dark and cold evening. He recharged the system and I agree it was blowing warm air when he left, but that lasted for only 3 days and the unit was again not working. When he returned 3 weeks later, he looked for a leak in the system, found it, and began explaining why the problem was basically unfixable. By this time our trust in this service was at a very low level, and we said that we wanted to get a second opinion before deciding about getting a replacement unit. Brandon left, we called another business, and they came to the same conclusion that Brandon had, but they did it in less than an hour. The cost for this second opinion was $90, when Alpine's bill arrived, they wanted to charge us $720. We feel this is abusive and is indicative of a company attempting to take advantage of senior citizens. But the difference in service and cost seems like a strong indicator. We are sorry to ever having called Alpine, obviously we wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

We used Alpine for a large install (the house we purchased had ceiling heat and no A/C). We wanted central air with two units (one upstairs and one down). We received multiple bids and chose Alpine because 1. The prices were comparable to all the other bids 2. They found creative solutions to make this work for an older home 3. Their office staff were proactive about rebates and tax credit and helped us through the process. They worked with NW natural to get the free gas line put in. 4. Their customer service is awesome--Drew and Chris are fantastic. Our contractor accidentally put a hole in our refrigeration line and Chris was out on the weekend to fix it. Needless to say, we are using them again for a ductless install on an addition! Highly recommend! read more
