The upper level has far more variety than the lower level. Honestly the lower level is sparse & has storage room vibes in some spots, but the upper level is laid out well, with jewelry, women's, juniors, men's, and shoes all on the upper level, and kids, appliances, home goods, bedding, and luggage on the lower level. Sephora cut their contract with JCP, so the Sephora space is now dedicated to makeup, but it's the same brands you can get at Walmart or a drug store, like CoverGirl. When I stopped in, I was specifically looking for work pants and summer shoes. The shoe section lacked inventory; the display shoe would be out, and then maybe 3 sizes were available below it. I wear a pretty common shoe size, but even that was hard to find. I did score a few pants from the petite section, and I definitely appreciated that they had a petite clearance space separate from the regular women's clearance; made pant shopping so much easier there. I got some non-clearance ones as well; there always seems to be sales in store that can be stacked with coupons on the app, so definitely check for those! read more

I typically shop at this store. They always have amazing prices and quality clothing; however, after my experience today I will think twice about buying from this location. Before I arrived at the register, there was a little jingle that went off and then the customer service manager praising getting another credit card opened. Which small wins are small wins, but the check out associate said under his breath "another one". Then proceeded to check me out for the shorts that I had wanted and kept pushing the credit card after I politely declined it. I had forgotten my card and even tried to call me back to the register to open up a credit card with the store saying " it was no problem, and I could open one". Unreal! so pushy! Focus on gaining your customers trust rather than pushing something in front of them. I hope they celebrate the small win of my no sale at all after that experience. read more

So disappointing. I remember the old JC Penny that was a delight to shop in. Covid must have hit them hard. It's now a little more than a junky looking warehouse. The nice displays & selections are gone. Bathrooms were filthy, and dust & dirt everywhere. And FYI they are still requiring masks for those who care either way. In a time when "brick and mortar" stores are going away, it's nice to see that Penny's is one that's still open, at least for the time being. In fact, they have continually refurbished this store at the Westfield Countryside Mall location in Clearwater. I recently ordered an item online and picked it up at the store. The process was easy and speedy. The customer service gentleman was friendly and helpful. This store is well stocked, clean and the employees always seem friendly. Good prices for kitchenware and luggage, however the prices for the adult and children clothes seemed exorbitant. They have a Disney section that sells everything Disney including toys, princess costumes and novelty items like lunch boxes and umbrellas. Its a chain department store so I was not enticed to buy clothes or shoes here, but it's nice that it's so big to have a salon, photography studio, makeup store Sephora within, bedding, perfumes and so many departments within. read more

I haven't been here for years! This week I came in to look for storage cubes to match what I thought might have come from here. I found the 1st level very sparce, warehouse looking and hard to navigate. Not only could I not find the cubes, I had a very hard time finding the price on all of the products I looked at. There weren't signs on the shelves or easy to find tags. There were no staff to be found and I had a very hard time finding the check out counters. My experience was disappointing and leaves me unmotivated to visit anytime in the near future. read more

Every time the wife goes to get her hair cut inside this JCP I browse around starting with this store first. Store is big and organized. I like the isle full of cheap toy items or novelty items by the hair cut store. You can always find something for the cousins or nieces and nephews. Hired part time. Told 25 to 30 hours a week. Started wrong from the start ! Gave me two four hours shifts for two months ! Eight hours a week total ! When I questioned manager had the audacity to say I was not getting enough credit cards from customers when they gave me no hours and on top of that time off register by rehanging cloths on the floor!! When I voiced my concern with hours the next week they just dropped my hours and took me off schedule the place never called me no correspondence at all !! Never seen such incompetence and total neglect from any company like this in my life! Worked for Dillard's before this had no hour problems ! This was such a nightmare! I popped in to JC Penney's to see the Sephora location. I wanted to see what was going to be on clearance. Nothing caught my eye, so I ended up taking a walk through the isles. While there, I happened to notice that there were boxed jewelry sets on sale for 40-75% off. This is pretty good! Especially since I'm enjoying wearing pendants these days. I managed to pick up several marcasite sets with pendants and earrings for less than $12.00 each. These were door-busters for the day after Christmas and Saturday. I'm glad I got what I got! The rest of the store was in turmoil with returns, but the register that I came to was pretty quick, and the cashier, Pat, was really personable and friendly. read more

I've always had good luck at this store. The help is always courteous and very willing to help. Always seem to have plenty of stock on hand. If I was to criticize anything it would be finding out how much an item costs. I find that mainly in the kitchen appliance area. read more

Other than an occasional Sephora purchase I do not shop at JC Penny. However some scumbag who somehow got a hold of my debit card, does. Rating is based on their customer service, or lack there of. Called to alert them of the fraudulent activity and was met but with an extremely rude "manager", named Kelly. Horrible customer service for online orders. No one can explain why orders take 2 weeks to arrive to the store. No updates via email, phone call or text. Staff in the store provide conflicting info that's provided by online Customer Service. They even charge for shipping to the store, then it takes forever to arrive.
