Came to buy some shoes and the lady in the shoe department was very friendly (only reason for the 2 stars) When I found the shoes I liked, I was ready to buy them but no one was at a register. I wondered around for a bit, looked at other merchandise hoping someone would go to the register but they didn't. So I went upstairs and found the customer service desk. I asked if they did purchases since no one was on the floor she said it was fine. The shoes I got were originally 55 dollars. Then were marked down to 40, then 14.99. So the lady rung me up and she said they would be 45 dollars and change. Then I told her the price says 14.99. She double looked the shoes as if she didnt believe me. No I'm not trying to rip yall off, but only reason why I got them was for the low price. No apology or anything so then it went to 16.10. I made an appointment and waited over 1 hour and a half to start. I heard one of the women at the counter say that they had booked 84 appointments. I understand there was a holiday demand however the staff was very disorganized and only made things worse by ignoring customers. They wouldn't keep you appraised of when they would be ready and didn't do a decent job of communicating with one another. The photographers seem to not have any experience with infants and rushed everyone through their session. I was very disappointed and only bought photos because we had wasted three hours here and didn't want to do it all over again. This is why most customers are leaning toward independent photo studios. I was impressed looking for Easter dresses this year. I had gone all over and my last stop was Montclair Plaza. I went to Macy's first and the dresses (for my two little ones) were $58 and on sale 50% off. I didn't see much I liked and decided to check JC Penney before settling on something. The dresses there were $25 and were $20% off. I found adorable dresses for both of my girls, plus got a couple summer dresses for my 3 year old, all for what I would have spent on just the Easter dresses everywhere else I went. I ordered a groupon for pictures just for the holidays and it was complete madness. Horrible customer service in booking the photo appointments/cancelations. My family waited for an hour and a half and not once did an employee come up to us and let us know how much longer it would be or that there was an overbooking. Very frustrating when you have little kids and there is an hour wait ahead without warning. One of the photographers was walking around barefoot and it just came off as very unprofessional. I went up to the receptionist and told her we are just going to cancel when we had been waiting for and hour and a half and she just responded "Okay, would you like to come back and schedule an appointment for the future?" I seriously wouldn't even want to put a star but whatever. I went into the sephora in jcpenney and there was 2 ladies working. Right off the bat I knew they didn't want us there for whatever reason. So my friend and I asked them for a sample and one of the ladies went ahead and did only mine. I'm Filipino, keep in mind. As the lady was color matching me, she started talking in Spanish with her other coworker. I understand most of what she was saying, "they act like they wanted our help but they just wanted a sample" she kept sighing and acting like she didn't want to do HER JOB!! I was upset because she had the audacity to even speak Spanish in front of me thinking that I didn't know what she was saying. Also she just walked away and kept staring at is. Have you ever tried to get things resolved with jc penny credit card service? First they are rude. I have never been late paying. Supposedly i was a day late paying, i get hit with a $27.00 late fee. I have great credit and never pay my bills late. The rep basically said i was lying. I got the charge taken off, when i wanted a supervisor i was on hold over 30 minutes. The rep told me no supervisor till 4:00. (This was 3:00). I like jc penny for clothes i use their card for discounts and pay the balance in full. You are better off using your debit card or credit, but not theirs. I am so turned off by this, i don't think i want to shop there again. read more

Always an issue. Once i got an order, they couldnt find the toddler sweater, and im guessing they just threw in another one. Not even close. Bras are terribly cheap. Now i got a bedframe from there missing 9 pieces. And I , me , I have to jump through hoops to get the pieces or refund, exchange...blah blah blah. Im soooo done with this store. Its just terrible. We were moving and in January 2018, I ordered custom, window coverings ($9,000+) from JC Penny in Montclair, CA; and the process was horrible and very stressful. Long story short, the salesperson verbally told me the tentative, installation date would be 2/22/18. When I contacted her to confirm the date, she said, "That's the tentative shipping date, not installation." I called JC Penny installation to inquire about the blinds and shared with the associate the install date of 2/22. She said, "We received your last set of blinds on February 20th; but, a few installers quit, so your new install date is March 15th." That was unacceptable. So, after complaining to the store manager (unbeknown to me, custom window decor is not under his umbrella), the district manager of custom windows called and offered a 10% discount and March 1st installation. Again, unacceptable. Since the installers couldn't install on 2/22, we had to change plans and reschedule our move-in date, which resulted in the pay-out of additional money. However, we agreed to the March 1st install date; and the district manager said she NEVER received the email. Therefore, she scheduled us for March 15th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. OMGosh, she was a hot mess! She was rude, disrespectful, inconsiderate and could NEVER tell the truth! I wrote the better business bureau and complained. On 3/15, the installers NEVER came! A little after 1:00 p.m., I called her and told her the installers weren't hear. She said, "Yes, I called you Wednesday to tell you our corporate office received a complaint from the BBB, Better Business Bureau, saying you wanted to cancel your order, so corporate agreed to give you 25% off the blinds. Since I didn't hear from you, we canceled today's install." I complained to the BBB, that's my prerogative; but, I NEVER told them I wanted to cancel. She NEVER called! We have phone records to prove she NEVER called any of the two listed phone numbers. As we talked, she kept cutting me off; then, she hung-up the phone in my face! I complained to corporate. The International District Manager called; and she refunded our entire deposit, over $3,000. I would NOT recommend JC Penny Custom Window Coverings, Montclair, CA to anyone! Go elsewhere! Jcpenney portrait studio. Made an appointment for 12:15pm was seen 2 hours after our appointment. Took 10 pictures. Was told to wait till they were uploaded to look at them. It was an hour wait for that process. After the hour wait was told we had to redo 4 poses because someone blinked. We asked if we can see those messed up ones they refused. I think they had a crash in the system and lost some of our poses. After our make-up was half gone and curls lost. We had to retake 4 poses. Mad and upset we just did it anyways. Waited another 20 minutes to upload again, picked 2 pictures and ordered a canvas. Family left after being upset and tired of waiting so long. Now they had us come back another day to pick up the canvas. That's fine and understood since it was a different request. I came back the day they said it was to be picked up. After waiting another hour to have them look. They told me that it's supposed to be there. Let me ask downstairs to see if it's in the loading docks. Waited, waited, waited. They said sorry it's still not here. You can walk around the mall. And see if I can get an answer from the loading docks. I didn't want to wait gave my number and no call that day. Called the nexted day and again no call. So we are on day 2 with no call. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE GO TO JCPENNYS STUDIO!!!! read more

They are obviously trying very hard to rebrand themselves and, I think, they have done it. They were trendy, had inviting displays, the quality looked good and they are reasonably priced.
