When I think of JcPenney, I think of discounts! There's always a sale going on! The women's clothing section is a nice size. Years ago, I used to rely on JcPenney's work wear. It's inexpensive, functional, and they offer a nice variety. It can be disorganized, especially on the weekends! Sometimes it's an absolute mess. They try to stuff so much stuff in, it can be hard to maneuver between the racks. The workout wear section is great! You can always find a great deal. They have a handful of Nike gear. The costume jewelry selection is nice and I can usually find some cute earrings. The customer service isn't great at times but other times is really good! Sephora is inside. I work for you guys for two weeks and never experience what I did at this establishment. Racism, favoritism, threatening to fired me because of false accusations. I went to Chris multiple times tried to have a meeting with his bosses while they were visiting to find a resolution. I grew up shopping at Northwoods Mall, and as a kid and young teen, most of my clothes came from JC Penney. Other stores have come and gone, but JC Penney is still here. Recently, I visited the mall on a whim. It was raining, traffic was bad, and the mall is a fun place to wait out Charleston's traffic woes. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but noticed a large Sephora store within JC Penney, as well as a Forever 21 area downstairs and a large Disney selection upstairs. Speaking of stores in Northwoods Mall coming and going, I know I'm not the only person who remembers the Disney store? I guess it lives on, within JC Penney. Unfortunately, this JCP needs some TLC, and I can't give it a high rating. The store felt like a sauna when I walked in. The air conditioning system is faulty, and when it's over 90 degrees outside, it's impossible to comfortably shop. I'm pretty cold natured, so when I'm hot, you know it's hot. The "down" escalator was broken and closed, and apparently the elevator also overheated today. I shopped upstairs and had to walk around upstairs looking for the stairs to get back to the ground floor. This is a huge accessibility concern, especially for older or handicapped people. Another couple and I walked around the second level to find those stairs. The stairs are marked "Emergency Exit" and in a corner by the suitcases and luggage. I wasn't sure if those were the right stairs, so I was comforted to see the ground level of JCP once I turned the corner. The only operational dressing rooms are on the ground floor. Thankfully, that area has portable air conditioning units, so the dressing rooms are slightly cooler. They're in the ladies section, which has to be a nightmare for families since all children's clothes are upstairs. The staffed checkouts are in the men's department, although if there's a line you can check out in Sephora. The employee said the store has had staffing issues, which is understandable. I wouldn't want to work in retail, without air conditioning, and in an inaccessible workplace. I'm thankful for the Sephora employee who did show up to work and was nice enough to let me check out there on a hot day in a crowded store. I gave a two star rating mainly because of the nice employee at Sephora and the good sales. While JCP is a family-friendly department store, it can't be easy for families with multiple kids to shop here with a broken air conditioner, escalator, elevator, and only one set of dressing rooms. Back to school season is almost here, and I hope the infrastructure issues are fixed soon. If not, skip JCP and head to the other department stores in the mall. read more

Officially my top department store in this mall and has been for years. The rewards program, the weekend specials, the big deal days that it seems like you're stealing bc the special is so good, that's why it's my favorite. I mean just the other day I went up during my lunch break and got 3 new tops for under $23. Two of them were 70% off the already 50% off. Nice quality tops too. Liz Claiborne career and Worthington. Penny's not only has great deals on clothes, you can find good quality accessories and home decor items. They don't have a Clinique counter so I can't get my moisturizer from here, but they cover a ton of other categories and at a reasonable rate. read more

I'm basing this review on my latest visit to JCP. I have been in multiple times over the years & never really had any issues. Sometimes it's a little unorganized, but I don't fault the staff for it - people are rude & messy. I had great customer service this time and the woman working the register was very friendly. Based off my vist to the store the week of Christmas their sales were amazing they had buy one get ones and heavy % off everything else, the checkout lines were atrociously long however the cashiers were actively working as fast as they could while providing good customer service the variety off stuff made gift shopping for everyone a breeze I don't normally go for jewelry but Nathan explained the store card to me and how I can get an extra % off a couple expensive pieces I was hesitant on buying due to the price he was very patient and as a salesmen he took the time to make sure I found the best piece rather than rush for the sale on 1 item I also wish I opened the card sooner as I shop here frequently it's a no brainer read more

I love shopping at JCPenny in the northwoods mall. It's the one place I know I can find decently made clothes for a good price. There is always a sale going on or some type of coupon you can pull offline. Plus, they have a rewards program that you can sign up for and receive free money. I also never have to worry about going through the mall because the have two entrances to the store from the parking lot. While some areas of this store can do with organization and cleaning (see pics), it is a decently stocked store. I do not suggest trying to navigate through this place with a stroller and the main walk ways are narrow and the racks of clothes are near impossible. Not very handicap accessible with how much stuff they cram in here I noticed. read more

JCPenney at Northwoods Mall in North Charleston is a great place to shop for clothing and home goods. They have really good values and sales and discounts on their items and plenty of selection available. I like that there are two levels to this store and I enjoy riding on the escalator which is the only one in Northwoods. The staff here is very friendly and helpful in making sure that you find what you need and there are plenty of registers available when you are ready to checkout. This JCPenney has been consistently good since it opened. read more

SEPHORA POINT THEFT. Is there a way to give negative stars? So I love Sephora - just hate this location. I am a VIB Rouge (which means I spend a load of $ at Sephora and you can earn points towards gifts and samples). I logged into my account online to discover 1,000 points missing. So looking back thru my previous purchases, I discover a purchases and usage of points that I never authorized at this location. On 5/31/14 for foundation in a collection that I don't like, in a shade that is not mine and the same transaction they used 500 points to get a free gift (using points that I had to buy $500 worth to earn). That day, I was helping a friend by renting a uHaul to move a washer and dryer in Myrtle Beach. Then another occurrence happened on 6/10/14 for another cosmetic in that collection (& not my shade) and another 500 points used, again. This time I was in Wilmington, NC for work the entire week and can prove I was not even in the state. As a retail manager, I am disturbed as it has to be an associate that knows I have a lot of points and I will be contacting Sephora and JC Penney as soon as they open tomorrow. If they steal points from customers, what else will they do? read more

If I could give this salon zero stars I would. Had an appt with one lady but she wasn't done with her client ( which was fine) another woman offered to take me. Holy F my life!!!! Biggest mistake ever !!! Went in for partial highlights. She said it's better to get just a whole head dye for pricing in the future. I agreed, little did I know this was going to be a nightmare from hell. She could NOT match my roots with the rest of my blonde hair, so she did some weird rose gold liking chaos in my roots. Was super upset and let her know. Instead of trying to immediately fix it, she tried to get everyone in the salon to say they liked it..... um.... NO! So when I wouldn't bend she had me come back in. I was very nervous that if she thought this looked good what the heck would she think looks good after? Go back in, ask her to please just match my roots with the rest of my hair! I've gone to another salon for the past 5 years and that lady NEVER had an issue matching my roots to my hair, ever! What a mess!! Now I left with some bleach dyed brassy orange bull crap! Then instead of even trying to do better or getting help because she was clearly incompetent, she just says I'll give you your money back and walks up front . She clearly needs new glasses! Ridiculous !! And was still trying to get people to say it looks fine! What the hell! Thankfully I got my money back because now I have to find someone willing to fix this box dye looking trash. On June 17, 2019 at approximately 1600 hours I, Dante G., responded to the JC Penny located at 2150 Northwoods Boulevard, which is in the jurisdiction of the city of North Charleston, county of Charleston, and state of South Carolina, in reference to a release of property. Upon arrival, I entered the main mall entrance and moved toward a "Customer Service" station. I quickly noticed that no employees were in or around the station. I decided to move back to the station that I originally purchased the item at. This was staffed by one employee. The individual, an unknown male black, was not the fastest at his job. His observation skills also seem to be lacking. The two customers in front of me had chosen today in to be the day that they come in to take care of everything that they could possibly take care of. 1 was trying to use a $10 off coupon for a less than $10 sale. Which was not allowed, but she ended up finding a Snickers put yourself over the $10 requirement and ended up paying $0.09 for a top. Wonderful that she was frugal, put the time but it took her to do that single shirt transaction oh, unfortunately, that shirt is no longer in style. The next individual was merely paying for JCPenney bill. With a check. Who does that anymore? That was a ridiculously slow transaction. I finally step up to return my Thai and the gentleman looks at me and says that I have to go upstairs to do a return. I may be blind, and I may be just as unobservant is that individual, but I saw no sign in the indicated returns are only upstairs behind the kids Department. Avenger need up the escalator and began to wander around, again looking for signage. Finally asked an employee and they told me to go into the salon and make a hard right and I would find my location. I went and stood in another very short, but time-consuming line, to return a tie. This is where I came in contact with a female named Damaris. Damaris does not belong in that store. She was quick, knowledgeable about her job, and able to multitask by answering the phone and handling customers at the same time. She was polite and engaging. Whatever it is they pay her, she is being ripped off. In the end, I was able to make my return in depart safely. I will avoid that store in the future. End of Report. read more

JCPenney has some specific and significant improvements that need to happen to make their chain viable for the future. The constant coupons will always appeal to the low cost customer along with the clearance items. Here is where there are major areas of improvement: 1. Pace of the staff. Customer service is slow, slow, slow and many times the check out areas don't even have a staff member in place. 2. Selection is terrible. I have tried four times to find the right size for a pair of jeans and to no avail. 3. Untidy. The place is not well maintained Those are three big, big areas that need improvement. read more

I'm a firm believer in complimenting somebody's good work, and I'm basing this review on the cosmetic area (Sephora) only, because that was the only place I was in the store. I am one of those girls who wishes she could do make up. Not just to look like a girl out of a magazine, but just at least to cover up my darkness under my eyes would be a miracle. With the Military Ball coming up, I really didn't want to do my normal "Black-Eyeliner and Bright Green" eyeshadow... that would be tacky. Since it is anyway. Well anyway, I went in there and straight up told the Saleswoman that i didn't know WTF I was doing and needed serious help picking something out that's not $100 but will be easy for me to use. I had already picked out a foundation kit and she taught me how to apply everything in it, using the brushes that came with it so it would all be the same. I asked her questions about eyeliner and shadows and she ended up doing my whole face for me, telling me exactly what she was using and how. She made it look so easy, and I doubt I can replicate it without a lot of practice, but she was SO amazingly helpful. After she helped me w/ everything she picked out a good make up remover for me (that was only 8 bucks! and she showed me how to double the amount that was in there...) and then gave me a sample of this stuff that keeps your make up on over night. When I told her i wish she could just come over and do this all for me on Saturday, she told me if I prepped my face w/ the kit I was buying, she'd do my eyes for me before the ball. HOLY CRAP. I was seriously in awe. she asked if I wanted a sample of any of the perfumes and said I should pick one out to get a sample of for the ball. I am seriously so impressed with the service, I will be calling JCPenney personally to let the store manager know that I will be returning to buy my makeup products there because of her. It is SO hard to find somebody so helpful and laid back to make you feel comfortable touching your face... and I am just seriously SO relieved with all the help she provided me! I was a nervous wreck about my makeup situation but now it's one less thing to worry about on Saturday. read more

I visited this Jcpenny in the mall tonight and went up the escalator to the children's section and to my surprise the downstairs escalator was broken so I had to wait in a long line to get on the elevator and had to ride town with about ten people and when I came down stairs I spoke with a woman named "Monica" I believe and she was supposed to be a manager and I requested that she put up a sign that the down stairs escalator was broken and she cut me off and said we are not putting up a sign, someone's working on it now and I've been telling people it's broke (the station she was working at was nowhere near the escalator) and was extremely rude. read more

Basing my review on only Sephora because Jcpenny has always been a great store to shop at i have no problem with them at all...but Sephora I personally can not say the same because my sister and i went into Sephora to look for make up i was looking for my shade of foundation in my color and needed help we're standing waiting for the consultants to finish with other customers which was fine but after that none of them ever came to help and greeted the other customers as they came in and actually went up to them to help them we felt very discriminated because we are Latin American and i guess that was a problem for them because they completly ignored us..do better Sephora its 2015 if you can't help very customer then dont work their read more

This place is not unlike any other JC Penney. The place is clean, well stocked and as always it feels you have to go through the entire store to get what you need. Hopefully you don't need assistance because there is no one on the floor. Once you find it you have to cart it downstairs to the central checkout area. This is a review for the sephora store inside jcpenney. I live an hour away from this store and i come here every single time i need anything involving makeup or skincare. The big sephora store in columbia (which is closer to my home) has more brands, but the customer service there absolutely sucks and they act like they have no idea what to do when you ask them a question. The girls at this sephora are extremely knowledgeable and they are also so friendly and welcoming. I'm in there so much that the girls know me and my daughter by name now :) Lauren is my go-to girl for everything. Anytime i need help i go to her because i've always loved every product she has recommended to me and she's the sweetest! I've been going to this sephora now for 3 years and i've only had to exchange 3 things because of the great advice the girls in there give. What a great store. I was greeted at the door and every time employee walked by me they said hello. I had a good experience.

I had the worst by experience at the salon. I paid $150 for a haircut and color. It paid for black with red high lights. Three days after the color was done it washed out and my highlights were blondish and the black looked brownish. The haircut I received was one of the worst yet. I asked for long layers and what I got was uneven short choppy on top and long on the bottom. So now I am forced to wear my hair up in a ponytail until some of this mess grows out. After I TOLD the stylist about my last horrifying experience and how I am about my hair she still managed to chop up the top of my head like something out of the 70s! I wish I had NEVER gone here! This will be a review for both JCPenney and the Sephora in JCPenney. The actual JcPenney was way better than the one we have at home. My mom found two cute tops for pretty good prices (they were on sale). The store was clean. Taking off one star just because I didn't see many clothes that I myself would wear. Now for Sephora, which I loved! Even though I had been to the Sephora on Times Square in New York, it was just a quick in and out - they were too busy for me to buy anything before I had to be somewhere else. The Sephora at Northwoods is my first "experience" so to speak, and it was great! I was a little nervous going in because I'd heard horror stories online about rude employees at makeup stores. However - this was not the case at all. The girl who helped me (Tuesday I think?) was super sweet and helpful. She color matched me for a foundation and powder and both were a perfect fit. She made sure to help me pick out the right products for my skin type too (which was great cause i didn't feel dried out or oily when wearing the products later). If I go to Charleston again, I will definitely be stopping in here. My only tiny complaint is that when I went to swatch the Kat Von D tattoo liner on my hand, the applicator was completely frayed and ruined. That's not the employee's fault, but it just needed to be changed out. The Sephora in JCPenney at Northwoods Mall gets 5 stars from me! read more

run from this salon. i was there friday the 11th to get a hair cut . the lady the did my hair the last to times was buzy. so she said her friend next to her was open. she burned my scalp with the hair dye she cut my bangs 2 inches above my eyebrows. i can not due anything with my side of my hair. so i calked and complained had to go in and she look at my hair. the manager said its short. you dont tell her. i said an inch off she took at least 2 1/2i only asked for my hair cut money back. 15 dollars and were sorry and ill talk to the lady that cut my hair no offer ti fix it or full refund. no customer service at all read more
