I have been looking for awhile for someone to be able to cut asian hair. Sounds funny, but i couldn't ever find someone to give me the cute asian look i wanted. Pictures, instructions, even youtube videos couldn't help. Then i met Erika. This place was recommended to me by a friend who has been seeing JC for years. She always had a great style and awesome coloring. I went to the funky house (its a small house decorated in cow spots...seriously) and immediately when i entered i was washed and seated. She already had several ideas for my style that coincided with what i wanted and this was before any pictures were brought out. At the end, she styled my hair and i looked in my cousin's words FOB (fresh off the boat). All of the stylists are well educated in their craft and continually go to camps and conferences to stay on top of the latest styles and techniques. Almost all of them are artists and you can see all of their art along the walls. This is a very trendy place, but those who have particular cut that they have had for a long time shouldn't be afraid to go here either. it can be safely said that i will be returning to the Funky Hair Ranch from now on. read more

I started going to a new stylist for trims. She was young and rather new. So far so good. Then I had her shorten the length, feather the sides and add bangs (it was all shoulder length). It is now aprox 8 months later and my hair is just starting to look normal again. She absolutley butchered my hair and she kept trying to get my bangs right (had to get another girl to try and 'fix' them). She put in odd choppy layers that bushed out so badly that I had to go get a short cut to start over. How she could have so totally screwed up is beyond me. A simple cut and she butchered it. The owner obviously does not mentor or train new stylists. Stay away from this place. Don't take the risk and months of repair work. read more

I had won a gift certificate from a silent auction to JC's and can not fully express just how fantastically happy I am with the end result. JC and his staff provided the absolute best service, and my cut and color is absolutely fabulous. Not only did JC do a great job, he talked me through what he was doing and why, and it's clear that he is extremely knowledgeable and talented in his field. The resident greeter, Miss Nelly Roo, is a great little addition and a fantastic lap warmer; having a canine companion added a nice touch to this awesome little salon! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

First of all, I want to say I really like this place! Conveniently located in central Edmond, cool decor, really nice people. My haircut was A+, I really like it. However, I really wish that, as a new client, that blow drying and styling it would be an upcharge. It turned a moderately priced haircut into a larger expense than I had planned. I should have asked, I suppose, but other higher end places I have been have included the dry in the price. So, great service, nice people, but watch out! :) read more

This place has the best laid back, friendly, fun, but very professional atmosphere. I am always greeted as I enter and offered a beverage. I am pretty picky when it comes to my stylist but I definitely am sticking with Lauren. She always explains everything that she is doing and is very attentive to detail. I get soooo many compliments on my super short cut. I have thick, coarse, unruly hair. But somehow- Lauren keeps me looking sharp! She is absolutely amazing. Whenever I call, she fits me in. The salon is in a little cottage; super cozy and welcoming... Not snooty and stuffy like some. They have a great product selection. I'm not sure how I'd manage my stress without monthly scalp massages from this amazing stylist!! read more

Crazy name, but Taylor does a great job. I have had three appointments and my hair has been great each time. She asks how you live and listens to the answers. Taylor also tells you how the products work in your hair and why and when you should be using them. She will also give you lessons on how to style your own hair. No reason you should leave the salon and not be able to do the look yourself at home! Kind of a "one room" house w/ about 4 stylist and parking is in a dirt lot next door or on the street. If you go when it is wet, don't attempt the lot. Just park it in the street. Everyone is friendly and after my last visit, they called to see if I liked my hair color. Not your usual Edmond "fluff" salon, I really like it. read more

JC's Funky Hair Ranch is exceptional! It's a place I would never go into just by driving by. I went there because of the other Yelp reviews! I was visiting from out of town and in great need of a professional hair cut. LaShonda is who cut my hair. First off, she took time to ask me what I wanted... She actually listened and made recommendations. She cut my hair and then taught me how to properly style it in order to get the look I wanted. Sure, my wife was worried that I went to a place called Funky Hair Ranch but she loves my new cut and I'm a professional where I can't have crazy hair. I was so pleased I took my daughter to her the same day! LaShonda made our day! My daughter who hates to get her hair cut left JC's with a princess smile on her face! (She's pre teen age). LOL The service is second to none with real professionals! Not someone waiting to get after your head with some clippers! Dudes you know what I'm sayin! The atmosphere is greatness!! Not like being in a mall or typical salon. My hats off to this place for being unique and professional! To bad I live eight hours away but I can assure you that we are visiting LaShonda if ever given the chance! We even received a post card and my daughter was so excited she put it on her magnet board!
