I brought my son here to get some Father's Day donuts for my husband. I figured they'd be pretty busy, and thankfully it wasn't too bad! I was very impressed with the service. Everyone was very smiley and friendly. They gave my son some stickers. They looked busy making fresh batches which is always cool to see. Really great ambiance inside and plenty of options to choose from. We really liked our donuts and actually felt like they were kind of similar to Sidecar in flavor, size, texture and general vibe. The service, atmosphere, and taste of the donuts are completely spot on and continue to do as such since they opened. Unfortunately, their procedure of dipping all donuts in the same glazes is unfortunately a huge barrier that will prevent me from visiting in the future. I understand having separate glazes and toppings wouldn't make this a 100% dedicated gluten-free facility, it would make a massive difference in safety. Utah has a huge, highly vigilant celiac and gluten-free population, and under the current procedure, a large group of local customers simply can't risk eating here. I hope management considers setting aside separate glazes and toppings so those of us who need strict cross-contamination protocols can safely support this local spot! read more

Guys, they are finally open! I've been stalking JD Flannel's San Juan Capistrano photos on Yelp for months, so when the Foothill location finally opened, I jumped out of bed on a Saturday, threw on pants and sprinted over. The shop looks fantastic, the staff is friendly, and although they serve coffee, I skipped it only because I'd already arranged for caffeination at home. Let's talk donuts. Yes, they're expensive. Yes, they're huge. Yes, they're probably a caloric crime. But they're also ridiculously good. The texture is wild in the best way, with a warm, light, cakey interior and a crisp outer edge. The fruit‑glazed ones have this bright zing that keeps them interesting. The old fashioned doesn't behave like a traditional old fashioned at all, but honestly, it deserves its own category. Different, but very good. After waiting so long for this place to open, I'm happy to say the donuts are everything I hoped they'd be. Treat yourself and go grab a box. read more

The maple donut was fluffy and soft with maple frosting that was divine. The Boysenberry cake donut balanced the sweetness of the donut with the tartness of the frosting. The clear winner - blueberry lemon! A blueberry cake donut with a lemon glaze that knocked our socks off. Oh and they have a soda fountain, like all good places in Utah should. The service was lovely. They had nice indoor and outdoor seating to boot! While the donuts were expensive ($5 each) we will definitely be back, just maybe not with our kids. read more

DELICIOUS and the staff are so KIND. My sister and I are dairy free (not by choice) and they had two options that were vegan. I was hesitant because they were gluten free but the head chef or manager offered it to us for free just to try! And it was SO GOOD that we came back the next day. She offered to put other toppings on the vegan donut because my sister loves the maple bacon but it wasn't a vegan option. So she essentially just made my sister her own personal custom donut and it was fantastic. Quite a perfect experience both times we visited, the kindness and generosity was above and beyond. My family and I love JD flannel!! They have the best regular and gluten free donuts I've ever had!!! (I am gf and family is not) We usually go to their San Juan Capistrano location when we're in town. This was our first time trying their donuts at their Utah location. Amazing as always! We live in Vegas and usually take some donuts to go and put them in our freezer. They thaw out amazing as if they were fresh from the store that day! Just leave them out on the counter for 30-45 mins and then put in the microwave for like 10 seconds. Natalie is the manager at the Utah location but we also know her from the San Juan location. This is a new donut shop in my neighborhood. The shopping center it's in has just been renovated, so it looks very nice. As for the donuts? They're very good and fresh. They're about average size, maybe slightly larger. They're clearly made of quality ingredients. However, at $4-5 a pop they're extremely expensive. At an average $4.50 apiece, that's going to cost you close to $60 a dozen after taxes. Maybe they give a discount if you buy larger quantities, I'm not sure. Like the numerous other bakery-type businesses that have come and gone out of Foothill Village, I can't see this one lasting long. It's very good and I'm not trying to yuck someone's yum, but in this economy I can't see folks spending that kind of money when there are so many other donut options out there that don't cause sticker shock. read more

I have been patiently waiting for JD flannel donuts to open. It did not disappoint. The Donuts are delicious!!! My kids loved them. I got also got all 4 types of the gluten friendly donuts. I had to try them all. It's hard to find a gluten friendly donut that is delicious. I am in love. I honestly would not have guessed they were gluten free.
