Tiffany was my server and she was so friendly and made wonderful recommendations. I was torn between regular fries or okra and Tiffany suggested changing it up and the okra didn't disappoint. Sweet tea is always so delicious here actually sweet. My smoked wings had an amazing crisp snap while juicy inside. Amazing breakfast buffet!! I can't believe I have lived in Woodstock for 8 years and this is the first time I have been here. They have a great variety of meats (chicken, cat fish, turkey, ham, prime rib, and brisket) collard greens, coleslaw, potatoes, etc. on the breakfast side you can get made to order omelets and waffles. Service was terrible. Made an online order and 45 minutes 50 minutes later still had not received my order and I had to even ask them about it after going in to pick it up. There was no offer for a discount. There's no offer for a refund no offer for extra meal free meal anything like that and not much of an apology for wasting time when I clearly ordered ahead. there are too many other places that I could go to eat besides here and get better service. Our server at JD's was wonderful! So personable and attentive. The food was hot and tasty. There were a couple of disappointments due to shortages of items, but what we wound up having was tasty. The batter they use on the fried chicken tenders is sooooo good. And though I didn't have them this time, the fried pickles are super tasty, too! The Woodstock location has a nice ambience - you can see where they do the smoking right outside the front door. TVs are present but easily avoidable and sound is off - music plays instead, which we prefer. read more

We came here on a pilmagridge to my late cousin's adopted town of Woodstock. Walking up to the place you can smell the smokers first good sign of a good bbq joint. The service was friendly which i love the southern hospitality that makes you feel welcomed. The food was delicious for me the brisket cooked perfectly and not dry . My wife enjoyed the ribs and the sauces that came with our meal. And the Brunswick stew was very good also and the best thing about it it wasn't a lima bean soup like some places. I'm only docking a star because the fries were a bit dry and cold that's two days in a row where I've gotten dry fries you would think most Restaurants would know by now how to cook succulent fries. I won't go back. It's weird enough to see catfish and hush puppies on the BBQ menu along with serving martinis with pinball machine, but they can't get a simple burger order right. When customer orders a burger with mayo and lettuce only they don't want tomatoes, ketchup, and mustard on the burger. Their fix was to take off the tomato and scraped off the ketchup. Our server at the bar,Ashlynn, was by far the worst server we've ever had. Totally inattentive to us. I had to ask her several times for napkins and bbq sauce. Tonight we ordered 3 meals online at around 7:05, the website said the order would be ready for pickup around 7:45. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:52 and still waited over 20 minutes for my order. When i walked in the little blonde girl at the counted said like five words and then walked away and i never saw her again and then i had to ask someone else about my order and she said, without checking, that "we're waiting on bread". waiting on bread for 20 minutes. When the food did arrive the bread wasn't toasted, we didn't get any of the sauces that we ordered and paid for, and there was a HAIR IN MY FOOD. HAIR IN MY FOOD! I am pregnant and they left a hair in my fries. i tried to call the restaurant to maybe get a refund or to just talk to the manager and nobody would answer the phone at 8:15. i called three times and i couldn't even leave a voicemail because the box was full. all in all, shitty service, crappy food, and not at all worth the price. maybe we shouldn't be expanding and adding new locations if we can't consistently provide good service and quality food at our existing establishments. read more

This restaurant is just great! We regularly order food or dine in! Today we came for the birthday brunch and it was delicious! My favorite items were the prime rib, the chicken fried steak, the meat loaf, the biscuits and gravy and the sautéed green beans! Our service was great, too! Breakfast buffet on Sundays 10 am-3 pm for $35/person. Edit; Got sick before leaving and lasted into the evening at home. Recommendations: bourbon-glazed salmon bites [excellent!], spinach salad [excellent flavor], western egg casserole [better than the scrambled eggs], gravy [but not suitable biscuits to put on], cornbread [per my son], and fresh fruit mixture of watermelon & cantaloupe [watermelon was perfect, but the cantelope was not ripe]. Didn't try: the omelets. Oysters on the half shell, peel and eat shrimp, or cheese grits [cheese grits with some peeled shrimp might be appetizing though for shrimp n grits!] ***Suggestions for Restaurant: a little less mustard or vinegar in the deviled eggs, a little warmer water in the yeast [Yeast rolls were flat as a pancake], use different biscuits or biscuit maker employee cause we live in the South and they taste like Northern biscuits [flat and hard].*** We didn't prefer the prime rib rare, but many do. Note: the very center is 100% raw. They frequently are out of items and we had to wait on the brisket. It is okay, but nothing grand. BBQ is at the table. I would prefer shredded brisket as opposed to slices [just a preference because it is less fatty]. They were out of "pecan pie" and should have told us that at the door before being seated. The waitress really is good for drinks only and didn't offer anything in place of the pecan pie outage. The drink was overfilled with ice, which isn't a huge deal, but when I asked if she could bring a refill without ice so she could pour it over the existing drink, I was left to do it for myself. Atmosphere: I have to be honest, several customers smelled strong of Marijuana, which was a turn off for me. Not sure the Restaurant can do anything about that, but it zapped my appetite and I had a young adult with me who didn't like it either. Overall, I think with some food being subpar, being out of key items, not letting customers know of items being missing [or out of] from the menu they present at the door, I feel like this is worth about $24.95/person, maybe less. Maybe they feel justified charging $35/person for the potheads that come in and eat. For customers reading this review, I am a top online reviewer and people notice when you reek of illicit drugs like Marijuana; while you might not care, the rest of the world around your entitled self does. There was a gust of wind when I walked through the parking lot that carrier the smell of the smokers at work. It was wonderful! As I walked in JD's there was also a haze from the smokers in the air. It reminded me of the times I had a bonfire in the yard (I absolutely love that smell). I ordered the bbq pork sandwich with a side of macaroni. The macaroni came as shells which I wasn't expecting and had somewhat of a creamy Alfredo sauce with an earthy herb taste. The pork sandwich was like most pork sandwiches you get, but in my opinion it definitely needed some sauce to I have the taste. I ordered sauce on the side to add an amount to my liking. The sweet sauce at the table was excellent. I couldn't get enough. I finished my meal off with a banana pudding, which was my favorite part of the whole meal. Went there around 12:45pm today (Sunday) and not crowded at all. Restaurant looked clean and neat. My wife and I were seated after the hostess wiped a table down for us. Our server was cleaning around the bar area which I'm pretty sure was closed and after about 15 minutes, she finally appeared and took our drink order, the food order for the table next to us, and for a third table who had been seated after us. It was another 15 minutes before she returned to take our food order. Our food showed up about 15-20 minutes later and as you can see in the photo, my chopped pork sandwich was one contiguous piece of meat, chopped but hanging together by a ligament or other tissue. Nasty. Another employee (possibly a shift manager in her 20's passed by while I was still holding it up and apologized, telling me the machine used for chopping was broken and they had to chop by hand. She also mentioned that she didn't have a single employee in the kitchen older than 18 working today because most of their staff were out feeding linemen restoring power somewhere. She offered to get me another sandwich but I refused because I didn't want the same meat chopped again or my food otherwise violated (I know my place in a restaurant, having seen "Waiting" more than once. NEVER complain about the food or send it back). My wife had the NC chopped pork sandwich and while it didn't look like a two-week-old boneless squirrel carcass, hers had a large ball of barely-chopped meat and a couple of chunks of fat. I forgot to mention that when our food arrived by the runner, she asked if we needed anything and I asked for a side of mayo, which she never returned with. The nice supervisory person mentioned above brought it to me right away. Our server came to our table three times total - to take the drink order, then take the food order, then to bring a check. Never asked if we wanted refills or anything and she was tipped accordingly ($3 on a $22 check). Positives? The fries were really good and the one supervisory employee was pleasant and apologetic, but we won't be returning. We live in the area and love BBQ, but we can go to Williamson Brothers, Shane's, or even Big Smokey's if I want to spend more and they're actually open. Also, while admirable to send people to feed linemen, maybe just close a location instead of staffing it with children who were clearly struggling to get food out. I mean, wow. read more

Thinking that this place would fall short because all the "good" places, well, referred places were closed, I was pleasantly surprised. They hostess and server boasted that same sweet Georgia charm and hospitality I've become accustomed to in this state, I felt wanted and welcomed. I looked at the menu and placed my order in this bright ambianced restaurant, this very large restaurant. Looks like this place could seat over 100 people. As the server was bringing my Diet Coke, she dropped it. Poor thing. Those of us in the restaurant pretended like we didn't notice. As she went to get another, "I guess I won't be having soda" I joked with the table next to me. "Not that one." They replied. Mind you that we were not having joviality at her expense. We were just acknowledging that we get that it happens and it was no big deal. The food was amazing. Brisket tender but a bit dry. Nothing lots of sauce couldn't fix. The ribs were perfect consistency. A little more salt than required and worked against the smoky flavor but really good. The spicy collards were also good but the star of the plate were the baked beans and hush puppies. Both of these were superb. I think $28 was very inexpensive for the amount of food I got but I'm from San Diego. This was a $60 plate. Their bbq sauce is OMG good. Knocked it out of the park with the sauce. I came here while my oil change was being done at Chloe's. My server was great (forgot her name!). She was very attentive . It was pretty quiet since I came in at 4:15 before the dinner rush. Food was good and came out fairly quick. I got the cowboy skillet- if you order it I recommend going heavy on their sauces because it can be a little dry. Also recommend getting ranch to go with it. Second time coming here, and when I move to a new area, I have to find my spot for BBQ. The smoky goodness hits you in the parking lot, and the inside screams BBQ! Lots of room for large parties. This place has ALMOST made it to 1st place in the area for BBQ as far as I'm concerned.I judge BBQ by the brisket. While the flavors were incredible, the meat had a little more chew than I am used to. Still fantastic though. My wife's chopped pork was excellent, both plates had HUGE portions. Loved the fact that you had many choices for sides and bread. I had fries and some of the best coleslaw I have had anywhere. My wife had baked beans and Mac and cheese which she said was a little runny but tasty! Our desserts where just ok. The banana pudding was good, but the bananas were just not ripe enough. It was missing the sweetness from riper bananas which would have given it more of a banana punch of flavor. I had the mixed berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream which was a little dry. It was more like a bread pudding to me. The service was really good, and everything came out quickly, and our drinks stayed full! Had several table visits from the manager which is definitely rare and nice! There was one thing that was truly impactful, and that was the ICE COLD beer. I came on a night where they featured Georgia beer for $4. That beer was so cold and much colder than I can remember any place serving and I just had to mention it. Great selection to choose from. So I got there, was in line with 3 people in front of me. All to go orders. The young girl at the counter was amazing and very customer service oriented, running hard, communicating well, and so friendly. As she was taking my name and asking what I wanted to order, the kitchen yelled at her NO MORE ORDERS! She promptly replied I had been standing waiting for a little bit and I should be the last order. They agreed and I am very thankful, especially on a Sunday night when I know they all just want to go home. The ONLY complaint I have is I paid for sliced brisket, and got chopped. The chopped sandwich was $10, and I paid $18. The Mac n cheese was tasty, nice large noodles and the Spicy Collards were good too.
