Now, is it competing for a James Beard Award- no, and it won't ever be in that league. However, we have a very attentive server, some great apps, a variety of entrees, and filled water glasses. We started with fried green tomatoes and smoked bbq wings. The wings were ok but the tomatoes stole the show- the onion jam specifically. There were four giant slices stacked with a pimento cheese spread between each layer and topped with an onion jam that I would order as an entree if that was an option. Food is just ok. The "new" charbroiled burger is lackluster and overcooked. Asked for medium and it was every bit of well done. The BBQ Brussels tasted like steamed in bag Brussels that then has a coating of BBQ sauce on them. Watch your receipt alert! Can't recommend this place at all. My wife and I came and ordered two sandwiches with fries. Both sandwiches came out and they were basically sandwiches on two small, store bought ciabatta bun...for $17-$19 a piece. So needless to say, the price for portion is not great. Taste wise, the grouper was ok at best, the chicken was entirely over-salted, and the fries weren't anything special. But here's where I definitely won't be back, the menu prices are deceptive, as the prices shown are if you pay cash, and you wouldn't know that unless you read the small print at the bottom of the menu. On top of that, the waitress said that the sandwiches came with a side, but lo and behold come bill time, there was like an extra $2-3 each in charges for both fries. So all that to say, the place is entirely too expensive for what it is and prices and charges are potentially deceptive and we won't be back again. read more

I do wish there was more Parmesan on them however. We also ordered the buffalo cauliflower. It is a whole head of cauliflower but it was honestly a really weird dish. They literally fry the entire head of cauliflower and give it to you like that lol. The inside was super soggy and wet and the batter didn't stick to the cauliflower on the outside, so it slid off. Use to love this place when it first opened. Quality of the food has gone downhill. Ate there Saturday and tried to order the stuffed chicken thighs (they were out), changed my order to the chicken wings (they were out), finally ordered the chicken salad sandwich and my wife got the calabash shrimp. She tried to get the brussel sprouts with it and they were out. Not sure who does the ordering but to run out of three things on a Saturday is not good. The meals finally came. The shrimp was good along with the fries. The chicken salad had no taste at all. Probably the worst I have had. In passing I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she knows it hasn't been good for a while. The waitress was very good and the service overall was good. They need to work on the quality of food and get back to where they use to be. read more

Taking over where Jekyll Brewing left off, JD's latest addition is an upscale restaurant, bar and nightclub that definitely adds to the downtown experience. JD's On Main has two floors, the bottom floor restaurant is decorated with a classy, yet casual, feel, with a great bar, while the upstairs is where you'll find the dance floor and an additional bar. Yes. I said dance floor. Open until 2am on weekebds, JD's on Main is definitely the place to be if your party plans go past midnight when the rest of Downtown Woodstock rolls up the sidewalks. They have a great cocktail menu, and the bar seems well stocked to deliver classic and craft drinks. Prices run around $10-$15 for most, beers around $7. Food wise, JD's On Main has a creative menu that includes barbecue, American Southern , traditional and revamped bar appetizers and food, and some elevated entrees. Service at the bar was excellent. We sat at the par and apparently from the service we we're privileged because the one bar tender would visit on the occasion that suited her. We chose to eat at the bar and I can not begin to tell you how bad the food was. We got the chicken wings in skillet which I am serious were so charred I thought it was a mistake. I quickly picked up on the quality when the Brussel sprouts were near inedible. My wife's Althea chicken. Sandwich was so underwhelming she failed to finish. JD's on Main has a fantastic location right in downtown Woodstock, and the space itself is modern and well done. It's a place you want to like...but unfortunately, our experience didn't match the setting. We started with the Fire Cracker Shrimp. The batter was very heavy, so much so that the couple next to us asked if we had ordered chicken wings. It was more breading than shrimp, and not in a good way. On top of that, the appetizer came out just 1-2 minutes before our entrées, which made the timing feel rushed. Our entrées also came out very quickly after ordering. We were told the BBQ is prepared at their Town Lake location, which likely explains the fast service, but it may also explain why the food didn't feel as fresh as expected. I ordered the Burnt Ends with macaroni and green beans. The burnt ends were dry and lacked flavor, and the green beans were also dry and bland, almost like they had been frozen and reheated. My wife ordered the baby back ribs and had a similar experience, dry and not very enjoyable. Service timing aside, the biggest issue was the food quality. With such a great location and atmosphere, we expected much better. As a downtown Woodstock resident, I was really hoping this would become a regular spot, but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Had been once previously, just for a drink in the upstairs area awesome some music was happening. That experience was pretty good. I went with my family in the middle of the day on Super Bowl Sunday. We were seated quickly and our server was nice. However, when she wasn't at her table, she looked very frustrated and we soon learned why that might be the case. We ordered fried green tomato appetizer, which was OK. Nothing special but not bad. And then we got our meals a very long, long time later. I had their Philly steak, which was overcooked. I got a side of brussels sprouts with it. The flavor was good, but they were also overcooked very mushy. My wife also got a sandwich smoked shrimp or chicken salad. I honestly forget she said it was OK and she got a side of green beans which tasted like they had been bathed and salt for a very long time. They weren't edible. My daughter got a cheeseburger and she'll eat pretty much anything so I asked her to tell me out of the last 50 burgers she ever had. How did it compare and she said it was number 45, arbitrary, I know, but a solid indicator that it wasn't anything special. The service was far too slow, and the price is far too expensive for uninteresting food looks like a nice place. Hopefully they can turn it around, but we are not likely to go back. read more

When you walk in, the atmosphere is jumping. Lighting is perfect. We started out at the bar waiting for our table with an espresso martini. It was perfectly made and possibly one of the best I've had in a while. When seated, we were by the huge windows and could see the nightlife of downtown Woodstock. Appetizers were fried green tomatoes stacked with pimento cheese in between topped with bacon jam. Also ordered the steamed shrimp. Both were amazing! Our server Danielle was SO sweet, attentive, had great suggestions, and gave the best service I've experienced in a long time! The food was delicious as well! We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were devoured instantly, I can't wait to go back and get more. We had prime rib cheesesteak, brisket burnt ends, stuffed chicken thighs, fgt sandwich and grouper sandwich. No complaints on the food it was all amazing! My only tiny complaint was that the vanilla bean espresso martini (delicious!) tasted like a regular espresso martini, there wasn't any vanilla bean flavor to it, but it was still yummy! Similar to other reviews, this restaurant was a disappointment. The menu is lacking appetizers, entrees and desserts, we commented that only a few things sounded appetizing. A great restaurant should have a menu that makes it hard to choose because everything sounds so good. The pro: service was 10/10, she was great and we could not have asked for a better service experience. Unfortunately, our dinner was also made awkward by the young man who was clearly there on his day off, chumming it up with the bartender and all of the staff, hovering over our table having personal conversations, and just getting in the way. I tried making eye contact to get the point across that him hovering wasn't appreciated, but he was clueless. 10/10 for service, 2/10 for menu and off-the-clock employees. Went with a group to celebrate a birthday at JDs on Main. No one in our party had dined here and we were all looking forward to the experience. When we arrived, Sunday brunch was being served and there was a 45 minute wait for our group. That seemed promising since it was crowded, so it must be good, right? It seemed to start off well, the server was nice and took our drink orders and went to get kid menus. She came back and took the kids orders first so they wouldn't have to wait as long (no one wants crying hungry kids at a restaurant) and then the adults ordered. Then the very long wait ensued. The meals finally started coming out 2 at a time, but definitely not the chicken fingers and fries for the kids order... Then we would wait. 2 more orders came out, still no kids food. Then we waited. One order. Wait. Finally the kids order came out and the last adult meal, which was for the birthday guy, he ordered the chicken salad sandwich...chicken salad...which you know had to probably already been made...how on earth was that the last thing? By this time the first 2 in our group had cold food, which one person ordered a brunch item and said they were pretty sure the eggs and gravy were already cold because it looked congealed when the server set it down. Now, on to the other food. The hamburgers were small and were really awful. They tasted like preformed patties that had been pan fried, all dense, overcooked and flavorless. I've gotten way better burgers at Five Guys or even Wendy's. I took mine off the bun and added to my salad and covered it with salad dressing just so I could choke it down. Another person in our group said the only way he could eat his burger was to dip it in his ranch dressing. Another person in our group got a salad with chicken and said the chicken was overcooked and rubbery. On a positive note the salads were good and another in our group said her prime rib sliders were good. The service was sooo slow but the server was nice. Overall, not a good experience at all.
