It's good southern cooking in a small place with a few booths and tables, so it was pretty full when we arrived on a Friday evening about 5:20 PM. Everything is cooked fresh so the wait is a bit longer, especially on a busy night. They only take cash or checks and soft drinks are in cans (no fountain). There was plenty of signage, so my rating reflects correctly set expectations. I was in the mood for fried chicken and they serve a keel breast (my photos didn't seem to capture the generous portion size as it was positioned "keel up"). For side I had the fries and lima beans while my wife had green beans and sweet potato. We also both had a biscuit which was served with butter and jelly. The staff were friendly and several spoke with as they worked the dining room, which (like the kitchen) was hopping with activity. My fries were crispy and the beans tasty and the chicken juicy and served hot and fresh. Drink refills were prompt. The prices are a good value. read more

Great biscuits!!! We actually had the cater a few events including our Christmas dinner. Amazing.

Stopped in on a whim, riding around with a friend. I've driven by it for many years, the parking lot is always full or nearly so. I had the fried chicken with gravy, mashed potato's and green beans, and good portions. The chicken was a boneless breaded cutlet, with delicious country gravy. Then I saw a neighbors table and all of them were eating chicken breasts! I soon figured out there is fried chicken on the menu board, that's what my neighbors were having, and loving. I'm gonna have to go back for what they called "damn good chicken!" Service was excellent. Ambiance? Think Mayberry. The peach cobbler was excellent too. The menu board is a good read. there's a sign at the register that says NO Credit Cards! This is definitely a local type restaurant. On my visit several people greeted each other by name. When you come in it says to seat yourself so we did. No server came so I went to the bar area for menus. There are a lot of options for their biscuits and sides. Most of them are meat options. The biscuits are very popular I had an enormous blueberry pancake that was really good. The edges were crispy and the rest was fluffy. It was loaded with blueberries! The syrup was not the best. I also had a cheese omelette with wheat toast. It was fine. Not too greasy which I appreciated. The price is fair for what you get. The service was friendlier as the meal went on. Love this place! A gal pal and I go about once a month for an early lunch. We've never been disappointed. There's usually only one or two waiting tables and they're hustling. We get something different almost every visit and always wish we had room for dessert. Important point though: they only accept cash or check. No charges. We think it is family run because they close down occasionally for vacations, etc. check on FB page to be sure they are open before going. read more

A very simple down home country restaurant. I love family owned and operated businesses. You get to talk directly to the owner asked questions and get the straight scoop. First time here and it was very enjoyable. The service was very efficient. Quick accurate and delicious. Excellent pricing on all the menu items. I just had bacon eggs and hash browns. The bacon had some crunch which I like. Sloppy bacon is not for me. Lol. Real shredded hash browns were done right. Crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. Found this place by accident when doing a U turn. Thank goodness we did. Definitely a mom and pop restaurant. Such friendly service, everyone knew everyone, asked about someone's brother, etc. Even the soda come in an can. We got the catfish (huge) the half order (2) and 2 sides with homemade hush puppies. We also got a club sandwich with side for $5. Potato salad, green beans, and slaw. Serves breakfast some weekends (check first) lunch and dinner. Dirty. There's a leak in the roof that's leaking into the table and the pepper shakers are a gross shade of brown like they've never been cleaned. There's a cigarette butt under the table cloth. Amazing food. I grew up in canton and it's nice to have a place to go eat that makes me feel like I'm still in a small town. My husband and I went one morning for breakfast. I had the breakfast melt and it had perfectly crispy bacon and the right ratio of toppings and bread, and we shared a plate of biscuits and gravy which were perfectly peppered. My husband had a breakfast plate with a little of everything and he finished it all. We were even planning our next meals there and debating coming back for lunch while we were eating! I've been searching for a good "meat and 3" place since we moved to Canton, and while Family Tradition always looks packed, I couldn't bring myself to try it yet based off the reviews. HOWEVER, I am already looking forward to coming back here! White board shows all the choices of the day. The sweet tea was just the way I like it, and although I don't often order beverages, I'm glad I splurged this time! Super sweet and over plenty of ice, reminded me of the sweet tea I'd get in Columbus, GA. Fried chicken was EXCELLENT, outstanding, huge portion, beautiful white meat with perfect crunchy breading. I could barely finish it! The lima were tender and though they needed more seasoning, I enjoyed how fluffy they were inside. Sweet potato fries were great! My co-worker enjoyed her sandwich, green beans, and REALLY enjoyed the peach cobbler with ice cream! I loved the people watching, and I recognize that this restaurant won't be for everyone. Today was my first time in. I was greeted quickly and the staff was friendly. I was served sweet tea and it was very good although the glasses are very small and require frequent filling. The restaurant itself is old and dated and honestly I was a little put off by the juvenile writing on the menu boards. I decided to do a "meat and 3". Country fried boneless chicken, mac-n-cheese, fries and cucumber salad. The chicken was delicious although the portion was reminisce of a chicken biscuit. Definitely fresh and cooked properly just not a proper portion. The mac-n-cheese was a no bake, cheese sauce variety and surprisingly good. The fries were certainly over cooked or old, maybe both. The cucumber salad was probably the best I've had since Marietta fruit company closed. Also the roll provided with the meal was very good. I spent 12 bucks with the tip and left hungry. I felt like I should have gone to Casey's home cooking, the buffet across 575 because I would have left full and content. I am willing to give them a second try for the following reasons. Cucumber salad was awesome and the family that apparently run it do a good job. The young man that served me was very attentive, as well courteous. Also I observed several patrons enjoying burgers and hot dogs and I intend to give them a try. Full disclosure: I'm a fat boy and like to be full. Had dinner here (Friday nights only). Daughter had a special request for "chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy." Wife picked this one. Ambiance: don't expect much. Run down shopping center that has seen better days, same with the restaurant. Service: lady we had was very nice. Some definite regulars go here. Food comes out a bit slow considering the number of patrons in there at the time. Food: The fried chicken is ok, juicy breast, bone-in (which I don't mind but some may). Breading is plain, no flavor. Chicken livers were pretty good, not overdone. Which is nice for a change in a southern "country cookin" joint. Sides: Dressing (stuffing): corn bread stuffing served "southern" style. Loosely translated that means very little flavor and mushy, which most country folk seem to enjoy. I just prefer something different. Pickled beets: canned beets sliced. Zipper peas: not bad, best side in my opinion. Cooked "southern style" (ie mushy). Green beans: salt pork and again " southern style" Mash potatoes / gravy: they were ok, white gravy though. Daughter was not happy about that as she prefers brown gravy. Biscuit: this is not a biscuit, it is white bread in round form. Hush puppies: nothing fancy but cooked well.
