No one in the lobby, no one playing shuffleboard. There were residents in the dining room but most of them were getting plates of tater-tots to go. The food while we were there consisted of hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and a salad bar. I don't want to deny my dad a hotdog but people need something beside fast food offerings day after day.

Today, made it exceptionally impressive for the following reasons: 1. My two tables professionally covered in black, waiting for me, 3 lights already on. To me, that's a very nice WELCOMING Customer Service, for a visiting vendor. 2. I called yesterday, if I should bring lunch, or if I could purchase. I was told: since I"m working here, I just need to get a ticket from the Desk. 3. My meal was delivered, and I could have taken advantage, by picking everything I wanted from the menu, but I only picked Grilled Chicken Salad. More than I could eat. Boxed leftover to eat another day. 4. Even though a couple customers wasted 30 mins. of my time, (after all that, they told me 'they didn't have money', I was not kicked out of the door. I remained until they were gone, and Marti was understanding. 5. Happy Hour, live music, was a bonus! This was Wednesday. I don't know what it's like on days I wasn't here. Many residents attended the Happy Hour with some of their guests.

Vancouver Pointe (VP) had turnover of 3 Executive Directors in approximately the last 6-8 months…read more Though 3 full meals a day is a part of everyone's resident agreement, VP claims to have to get approval from corporate off site to repair or replace the juice machine and even to reorder food. That's the reason VP gives when they run out of so many menu items. We went close to 2 weeks without any juice at all for every resident here unless they bought their own. VP took around 2 or more years to hire someone to run the kitchen. The maintenance head comes in to my unit with his master key after I denied his request to come in,, beats on my door like police executing a search warrant, screams at me and demands I pay for service I wasn't legally obligated to pay. Don't put loved ones here unless they stop mistreating and abusing people who simply refuse to pay bills that are VP's under the resident agreement. Most of the staff are kind to me, but the management is either incompetent or unable to withstand the demands of corporate to slash costs regardless of how much it hurts residents. When an issue has been resolved with an Executive Director who leaves, the next director starts doing the same thing that was already resolved. Given the turnover, this comes up a lot. I've lived here approximately 10 years, never missed a payment or made a late payment, and never expected to be so miserable living here.

What is left out is there is no lift on the bus, only two stairs with railings on each side but at the top of the steps, they spread out too far to hold onto with both arms No reimbursement for what they have already paid for on the facilities bus . This is the only vehicle they have for residents the managers refused to reimburse me so I went to the regional manager, who agreed to reimburse me for one year worth of rides. This did not include outings and excursions which I missed out on entirely for the whole time. I was there. in conclusion, if transportation is included in the rent and a resident is not able to board the bus because it has no lift yes should be clearly indicated before they sign the rental agreement Thusly, two star rating because everyone likes to get out in the world, even when we're old-er!

Lots of turnover in staff, which happens. A couple nights when I was there, they only had one tech working for the entire memory care side (I believe 24 residents) so I stayed until midnight to make sure my family member was settled and sleeping. Staff didn't appear to know what my family member could do/couldn't do. Ie, not ambulatory, but wanted to het her in the shower. They should get rid of the carpet because it stinks horribly! About 5 steps into the memory care area, the smell of urine hits you in the face! The carpet in the individual room was stained and gross. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our family member alone due to her confusion and the lack of staff. We needed to be there for 8+ hours daily-and often as late as 10 pm to advocate for her. We were told someone would check on her every 45-min. the first couple days to make sure she was adjusting but instead it was every 3-4 hours. Thankfully a family member was there. (And no, they didn't not check on her b/c family was there, they need to go into the room to know if someone is visiting, nor were they told family would be there all day) Family had to ask for her food tray more than once. Unfortunately she was only in memory care for a couple weeks before passing. We would have moved her out if Hospice wasn't needed and end of life was that soon. Proceed with caution if you are considering placing a loved one there.

When I first came the facility was…read moreoutstanding in all regards, and particularly the staff and the senior management demonstrated very strong commitment to their residents. I was one of the early residents of their villas, and they were initially a great improvement to the facility. I felt the facility fully deserved a five-star rating. However while the staff is still outstanding, the quality of services has degraded. It seems that they added over fifty villas to the facility but failed to increase the kitchen size, the transportation support, and likely some of the staffing needs to maintain the high standards of three years ago.

One of the things we hear often is when you walk in the door, you feel the energy, people are out and about and saying hello as you pass by in the halls is just a normal part of our lives here. I love connecting with new residents and listening for opportunities on how they can get involved in the community. I love the work I do and am proud to work where integrity is at the forefront of our daily lives. It is a great place to work and a great place for people to live.

The facility has terrible medications protocols. The med tech would often make their rounds during…read moremeal time, if you weren't there you would have to call, leave a message, and wait for a callback. Even if you were in the dining room, the tech would hand out meds but did not require the person take them while they were present. I saw many pills left on the table or squirreled away in a pocket. This is a facility that has memory care residents. Either follow best practices or stop taking money for a service that isn't being delivered. Speaking of money, this is a very expensive facility and you are nickel and dimed to death. When they were under covid quarantine residents had to eat their meals in their rooms. HOWEVER there was a charge to have meals delivered to rooms. There is also a charge if you wanted to order by phone and go down and pick up your meal. There are also charges to get restroom help, or help you off the floor if you fell, there is a HUGE charge if you needed laundry done even though most rooms do not have a washer/dryer. They were even so stingy that you could only have a straw for the number of beverages you ordered at that meal, not one more. Oh and then there is the policy about returning to cogir from the hospital. You had to wait until cleared by cogir before returning, the problem is that the only person who could authorize it only worked monday through friday. So, if your dr and the hospital determine you can be released, you had to stay until regular business hours, resulting in at least overnight and often several days more at the hospital at great expense. Some of their "holidays" are tone deaf if not out right disgusting. For example western days had a spot to take pictures that said "wanted dead or alive". There are no cleaning protocols in common areas. Way too often I would get ready to leave and there would be puddles of urine in the elevator. The next day there would be dried, sticky residue even though I reported it to staff. I wouldn't sit in any of the chairs in the hallway because they were urine soaked and smelled very strongly. On another occasion I saw a piece of paper in a hallway, and waited to see how long it would take someone to pick it up. After 7 days I picked it up. In the 3rd floor ceiling there was some water damage around a sprinkler for fire suppression. It had started to mold, but instead of fixing the leak and replacing the drywall, they primed it with kilz and called it good. In short, I would strongly advise using a different facility. Your loved ones will not have a basic standard of care, let alone one that that is safe, clean, and appropriate for their needs.
