In pervious experience there has been one bartender, and one host/waiter for the entire restaurant. Granted, the place is small, but it definitely needs more staff. I would reccomend booking a table online before turning up. Do give this place a try though, their Jerk bowls are WORTH IT.

I had received an email inviting me to a members party with free beer or cocktails, great never one to knock a freebee!! Upon arrival the private bar area was not ready so we waited at the bar, several others also looking for the members party arrived and were told the same thing, come on guys you say you are starting at a certain time so please do. Anyway once they had got their act together down we went to find that most of the seating had been reserved!! So faced with this we did as many others did and sat at a reserved table and waited to be told to move, which we never were. The free cocktail was ok nothing special, it got interesting when our table, which we shared with liked minded group looking for somewhere to sit, when they provided us with a large cocktail to share!! When I say large it was like a fish bowl but made from wood with several straws in it, for us to share with people we did not know!!! Not doing that. The other group on the table looked at us as we looked at them as they were not doing that either, they did give us the drink as they were leaving so awkwardness escaped!! Once we had filled our boots with the large free cocktail we went upstairs to eat, initially we were seated in the middle of the restaurant and that table was accompanied by an unwanted draft/breeze which was cold!! We asked to move and at first they were hesitant saying there was nowhere to move to!! We pointed out empty seats where we felt we could sit and not be in the draft again they resisted but eventually buckled to our relentless quest to be re-seated. The new area had less of a draft, I'm sure they could have just turned the heat up and the problem would have been gone. Once resettled we ordered. Having been to the other two branches of this brand we knew what to expect of the food. I like the idea behind the Rum Kitchen but I feel that the Carnaby Street one hits the mark more so than this one and the Brixton ones. My opinion, just saying!!

I haven't had jerk chicken in London before but I'm doubtful anything can beat this place, and the price. The place itself is very small and there's only two small tables if you don't want to do takeaway. The decor is awesome... lots of pictures of Caribbean celebrities cover all the walls and even the menu sign. We ordered the large jerk chicken plate to share. It came with Caribbean fried rice with beans and one plantain. Would have been better if there were more plantains because it was absolutely delicious. The fried rice was amazing with the soft, tender, well-grilled chicken. The two sauces the dish came with was spicy so if you can't eat spicy don't get the sauce. Will definitely come back (worried I might come back too often) because we each paid 4 pounds each, so 8 total. Insane for London standards.

I am so lucky this place was just 2 seconds away from my former home. From the day we moved in,…read moreour landlord said 'you must try Ochi, it is the best' it took me a while before we actually tried it but then it became an often acquisition. It is home made Caribbean food which for me translates into latin american home made food. Huge factor of why it became so popular in my house. Very much like the Caribbean, this small take away is an island in itself, always frequented by Caribbean nationals and other non nationals alike. Their jerk Chicken is divine and it is served with cassava, rice and black beans. Take a banana cake also to complement the perfect meal, all for under a tenner. If you are on the run try the patties, veggie, chicken, beef or fish they are all lovely at £1 each. At one point they used to have all their walls covered with Caribbean artists and even Jamelia and Usher's autographs dedicated to their food, but they took them down. A good move if you ask me, they don't need celebrity endorsement, the food speaks for itself, oh! How I miss it!
