I ordered my wedding…read moresari and lengha 8 months before my wedding and put down a 75% deposit (which the owner, Shirin Vinayak, claimed was standard). I was promised swatches to approve within 3 months of the order, and the final product 2 months after that. This is what happened: (1) Swatches were never made. (2) Shirin and her assistant lied constantly, alternating between saying the swatches were on their way or the swatches were in production. (3) The deadlines were missed by months. (4) The lengha was made in the wrong colors, without my approval. (5) The final lengha (remade in the right colors) was of such poor quality that I was unable to use it for my wedding. (6) The sari didn't arrive until 1 month before my wedding (7 months after I ordered it). (7) The sari was a completely wrong color. (8) Shirin refused to rectify the situation at all until I got my (very well connected) florist involved - then she agreed to refund my deposit. Do not be fooled by Shehnaai's showroom or the sample dresses on display - the final product is subpar at best. Worst of all, because of all her lies about when the dresses would show up, I ended up having to get my dresses from other vendors at the absolute last minute, something no bride (especially one who was looking for dresses 8 months in advance) should have to do.

After ordering my lengha she ,on many occasions, kept delaying my sample date, evaded phone calls and was very unprofessional/ rude/ unapologetic. In fact, after the original sake, I never saw her again. BEWARE: The final product was nothing like the prototype they had in the showroom or fabric sample they sent despite the relative high cost , which did not compare to the quality or authenticity of the garment produced . In the end I had a great wedding, the dress did not matter. I actually bought an AMAZING dress for my reception directly from an actual Indian designer, who despite her well deserved fame took the time to address my concerns, (Personally!) She also sent my husband a special gift for the wedding.And this is someone who dresses celebrities.... So I am far from her demographic. I was just very disappointed by the haughtiness of Shennai Couture . And I only hope the owner would read this (as well as countless other reviews) and take example from actual Indian designers who value customer service. She brought me one gown by said designer and by the expression on her face I could tell she didn't approve of how it looked on me. I'm 5'8, 130 lbs. and, for a woman my age, I have a pretty good figure. She didn't bring me other dresses and seemed disininterested in me. When I took out my phone and asked her to take a picture of me in the gown, she said photos are not allowed. What?! What century is she from? You can find photos of any designer's collection online and most boutiques carry the same styles. It was not an exclusive to their store! I ended up buying a different gown from the same designer elsewhere. Now my younger son is getting married and I definitely will not be returning to Mieka. Judging from the reviews, the Greenvale store has better customer service. If you must, go there, and avoid the Woodbury location.

The Flushing store is mostly run by Jack. Most of the jewelry in this store are watches.. Mostly high-end brands, from Tudor (Little brother of Rolex), IWC, Audemars Piguet, Chopard, Tag Heuer, Ebel, Michele, Baume & Mercier, Ulysse Nardin. etc. If you like Rolex or Movado, they don't have them at this location; though they should have some at the NJ store. They have a cabinet with a few leather wallets and card cases from Alfred Dunhill that look pretty nice. Fairly priced too. They also have 2 display cases with wedding and engagement rings. If you need a battery change for your watch, or cleaning, they do that too, for a charge of course. After a robbery a few years ago, they have this new policy to keep the front doors locked during store hours and a salesperson will only open up if a customer wants to come in. That being said, once you enter, don't expect stellar customer service. Actually, the first 5 minutes in the store, don't expect anything more than a, "Hello, Welcome to Cooper Jewelers." I only opened one box which was hiding under the coats on the back, but let me tell you it was a fabulous bikini. Never mind that there was not enough cloth to cover my bodacious body, but if your daring and work out occasionally these will definitely make a statement on the beach. The color I peeked at was a metallic burnt orange and it would look great with a tan. I really did not look at the price tag, but only wish my daughter was here to see them as she lives in warm weather all year long.
