Been coming to Jeannine's for 25 years (first San Roque and then Goleta). Food is always excellent, breakfast or lunch. Baked goods are wonderful (apple scones a favorite). I had family in town this weekend and wasn't sure if Sunday breakfast at 9:30 in Goleta with a large group would work well, but it was great! The manager and his staff were incredible, truly outstanding service. I don't generally notice service much at restaurants unless it's really bad, but today was so impressive I had to review. Manager jumped in immediately to put tables together (there is a lot of seating now by the Thai place), made good food recommendations, when one of our large party arrived after the rest of us they got his order in immediately so his food arrived with ours (even though there was a long line), all the food came quickly and was beautifully plated. Staff checked on us multiple times and manager suggested and took a nice family group photo. I hope he and the staff are well compensated because they were working so hard, SO friendly, really great at their jobs, and made our morning! Such a wonderful spot with wonderful potatoes! We were greeted with such amazing service and it made a great spot to celebrate my birthday! I ordered their breakfast burrito with their very colorful burritos while my partner ordered their American breakfast with no meat. The bacon in the burrito was cooked perfectly! Just had the best cake of my life. You can tell it is high quality. The cake itself was super light and fluffy, the frosting wasn't too sweet either. Strawberries were fresh. Originally I asked for a coconut cake but they called back and said they wouldn't be able to make one in time. So we got this instead- was phenomenal. We had such a great time here! The manager or owner was so sweet, offered to take pictures of our group together, and was very personable. I loved my banana French toast. It tasted like bananas foster, with the bananas coated in sweet brown sugar syrup and balanced with the fluffy French toast. Would absolutely get this dish again. It's a very cute little diner vibe. Since our hotel didn't have a free breakfast, we explored the options in our vicinity and I'm glad Jeannine's was close by! It was quiet for a Tuesday morning but they have seats indoors and out and it really seems like it is a favorite spot for locals. We got a breakfast burrito, California omelet (add $1.75 to sub fruit for the biscuit), and a coconut scone. The breakfast burrito was solid- good portions and very tasty. We were a bit underwhelmed by the omelet- there was too much tomato in there which made the whole omelet pretty watery so we ended up just tossing about a third of it. The coconut pineapple scone was wonderful- not dry at at, nice flakes of coconut mixed in, I was tempted to come back for more baked goods during our trip. Was out in Goleta shopping and realized we were very hungry so stopped in at Jeannine's for brunch. So glad we did because this was by far the best breakfast sandwich I have had in Santa Barbara. Just right amount of bread to egg, meat, tomato, cheese, avocado, and fresh spinach. All the things a fresh breakfast sandwich should have for best combination. Really great place for high quality, tasty breakfast and lunch dishes. You order your food, then pick your table and your food is delivered to your table or you can order for takeout. In addition, they have fresh baked goodies nested with some thoughtfully designed tourist souvenirs. Nothing tacky here. This small restaurant exudes a quiet elegance. There was a long line when we got there but it moved pretty fast. The staff are fast and efficient here. As you wait in line they have retail you can browse. You order at the cashier, take a number and find a table. We sat outside since we had the dog. I had the Santa Barbara scramble with fruit and my husband ordered the omelette. Both were very filling and we added protein but I think we could have done without the extra protein. The pancakes were nice and fluffily. The roasted potatoes were delicious! Jeannine's does an excellent job with their food -- everything tastes fresh and made from scratch, and the staff is consistently friendly, helpful, and professional. You can tell they care about quality. The reason I'm only giving three stars is because of their coffee pricing. On a recent visit, I ordered a simple black coffee and was charged $5, which already felt steep. What really disappointed me, though, was being told that refills were not included. For a restaurant of this caliber, charging $5 for plain coffee and not offering refills feels unreasonable and out of step with the otherwise good experience. read more

Other than that love the story behind this restaurant and the food was good. Ordered the Norwegian Benedict so good. There's currently a $2 surcharge added to all egg dishes due to rise in cost off eggs. The Havana latte was good too. Nice decor and love all the pics throughout the restaurant. You're stuck standing right in front of the kitchen exit, so staff are constantly weaving through the line saying "excuse me" -- which gets old fast, especially when there's literally nowhere to move. When I finally got to the register, I tried to be polite and asked the woman helping me how she was. She just said "good" and didn't bother to ask how I was back. It felt unnecessarily rude. I ordered two chicken pesto sandwiches (same sandwich, just with different sides), and her whole vibe was cold and unpleasant. When I asked her to repeat the order, she looked at me like I'd committed a crime. She had a tattoo wrapping around her arm -- might be worth waiting to order until someone else is on the register. The food itself was mid for the price. The chicken pesto sandwich was fine, nothing to rave about. The coleslaw, though? Genuinely disgusting. The atmosphere was cute, and the food was edible, but it was hard to enjoy with that kind of service. Jeannine's is always one of those classic restaurants where you know it's going to be satisfying and filling. Though I have been to the other locations in Santa Barbara, I absolutely love the decor here as it's colorful, chic, and it just pops! There is inside seating and tons of outside seating on the side of the restaurant with umbrellas. One of my very simple favorites is the American Breakfast paired with a warm and fluffy biscuit.
