I ordered my wedding cake from this place months in advance via a phone order. I had to request a receipt because the person did not offer it automatically. I'm glad I requested it because on the day of pickup my friend arrived and the employee immediately stated there wasn't any order under my name. She showed him the receipt multiple times and after checking 3 times in the back area, the employee finally found the cakes. It was an extremely frustrating and stressful situation considering the occasion and I was very unhappy and frustrated to hear that my friend had dealt with this nonsense despite having placed an order in advance. Thankfully we had the receipt that was never initially offered. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if I hadn't asked for a receipt. The food and pastries here are amazing and the prices a very reasonable. We got a few donuts which are just around $1.5 each and a burrito, great deal. The coffee is pretty good as well. Anna's is a cute bakery located in Goleta. It's in the main shopping mall area with the Costco and restaurants that I'm surprised I haven't noticed this spot sooner. Tucked next to the Starbucks I guess I've been overlooking this spot but I'm glad my friend and I stopped in for a quick treat. This bakery is surprisingly packed with many bakery goodies, cookies, little cake slices like cheesecake, eclairs, and other yummy bites. They also have a pretty good low key lunch menu with soups, salads, and sandwiches. This spot had much more than I anticipated and what was stellar is we came around 12:30pm and the cases were well stocked. Sometimes at bakeries I've found when you come after the morning there are less options but no issues here. Service was really good too! Two gentlemen were working the counters and they were both super super nice. Since I had never been here I needed some time to look over the cases and menu, the gentlemen didn't seemed bothered and allowed me to take my time. He was attentive and very friendly. I ended up only grabbing an eclair to go but once I got home and ate it I was so happy! It was delicious and classic. My friend got a sandwich which she was able to customize which was nice. I stopped by with my friends in the spring time on a Sunday right before noon and this place was sure packed! The line was long and this place was poppin'. Fortunately, the line seemed to move fast. I saw ppl buying lots of yummy baked goods. I ordered a large lavender latte with oat milk. The latte was delicious and I shared with a friend... But honestly, kinda wish I got my own LOL. It wasn't too hot so it didn't burn my tongue. I could taste the espresso, which wasn't bitter but smooth. The lavender syrup didn't taste artificial and the oat milk didn't make my stomach hurt haha. They top off the latte with a cute heart latte art and some lavender petals. I definitely had to snap a pic before putting the lid on! I always appreciate any sort of latte art! Parking: The shop is located within a big lot with rows of parking. We had no issues at all finding a spot. Tip: They have farmers markets here from time to time so it was nice to grab a coffee and walk around and support local (and far!) sellers! It was incredibly sweet, and yet the least sweet of the three. The filling had a good texture and the brûlée on top was crisp, not soggy so I know it was fresh! The brownie was ok. It was thin and had a lot of chocolate frosting on top, which I was not a fan of. To me, brownies do not need frosting since they're already so rich, decadent, and sweet. I still wanted to give it a try but was disappointed. Texture was ok but I couldn't handle it! The French waffle was the sweetest of them all. It was... weird. Puff pastry coated in turbinado sugar, filling with a lot of vanilla buttercream and raspberry preserves. Wow, my teeth hurt. The puff pastry was stale. The buttercream tasted like what you'd find on a cake from a grocery store (think Albertsons, Walmart), and the raspberry preserves were artificial tasty. It was weird. So basically, you pick up what you need and if you wish to eat right away, there is plenty of seating outside. I was here for a very small bite and therefore honed in on the Dainties. I tried both the apricot and the strawberry varieties. Both were dry, with very little filling. What you mostly tasted was the pastry dough. They must have a good turnover because they were out of the chocolate croissants, by the time I got there (about 10:30 am). The marketplace is a nice area to be in. The people at this bakery were super nice and super accommodating, so I will give them that. I also understand that in person, the bakery has some amazing offerings. However, I ordered a cake from Los Angeles for my daughter that goes to school in Santa Barbara for her 19th birthday. I requested a very simple design of headphones. Nothing too complex or demanding of too much time. For the price, I really expected a much more professional looking cake. The idea was a very simple one and any professional cake decorator should've been able to execute it in a way that was much neater and more professional looking. Quite honestly, as a baker myself I know that I could've done a much better job. They also didn't follow the instructions which were to write my daughter's name from the wire in the headphones. I will post pictures so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. A good amount of businesses, such as coffee shops, seem to get their pastries from here - probably for a better profit margin. It's always disappointing when they do, because it demonstrates they value quantity over quality. I mean, the baked goods are edible but not worth trying when there's so many other options nearby. Unfortunately everything I've tried has been dry and has the strong flavor/odor of vegetable oil. All of their bagels are like cardboard. How is it that a blueberry bagel can smell and look so fruity, yet have no taste? Their croissants don't even contain butter, better off getting them at Costco. Happy 2022 everyone! This year will surely see me at Anna's quite a few more times. When a friend told me that a bakery close to where I live offers vegan donuts, I was psyched--I'm vegan and it's oddly difficult to find good vegan food, sweets, and drinks in this area. Checking out Anna's Bakery a few days later, I wasn't let down. I've sampled both the vegan glazed donut and the apple fritter, as well as the house coffee, and all were great. The donut is puffy and airy and sweet. The fritter has glorious crunchy, oily edges and a surprisingly doughy interior, complete with apple pieces and a glossy, sugary varnish. (Did you know some 'apple fritters' elsewhere don't even contain apple?) The coffee is hot and black and perfectly balances the candy-like sweetness of the baked goods. There's always a long line and seating is limited so be prepared. This shop also offers non-vegan donuts (the majority contain milk products, though I'm crossing my fingers for a vegan cake donut in 2022). There is also a menu of savory food. Breads and donuts and cookies are also available to go. That pink box, unmistakably brimming with tasty treats, is sure to being smiles to any gathering... especially if you have vegan friends who are so used to being left out when sweet baked goods appear. read more

I got the Mexican Sweet Bread and Almond Croissant: Mexican Sweet Bread: It looks like a beautifully crafted seashell! I've been to Anna's twice. Once at 7am and another time at 2pm. I got some of the smaller pastries and a muffin. I also tried their sausage breakfast burrito. The food is pretty average, nothing spectacular. The service is really good though, I ordered a coffee in the afternoon and they made sure that my brew selection was still there and hot. I think the selection is definitely better early in the morning. Anything past that time, nothing looks good and it's pretty scarce--which makes sense because it's a bakery. I have been here twice to get cakes for my birthdays. The cake itself is good. But the decoration is horrendous. They charge you about 10-20 dollars for some mid-decoration. I don't mind paying more if they would do a better job at decorating. One side in the inspo photo I show them, and one side is the cake I got with the candle on it. The placement and size of the number were uneven. When I showed them the photo, I noticed that the number didn't look too neat so I called them to make sure they could make it look more neat and even. It was embarrassing to look at my cake on my birthday because they were so ugly. I waited a long time after to write this review because I didn't want to be this person.
