This place is absolutely HORRIBLE!! I never want to write a bad review for a business but I truly want to warn other people about coming here. I went to pick up my bridesmaids dress on they day it was supposed to be ready. When I come in, she tells me it's NOT READY...what?! No phone call before or warning. Thank goodness I planned a few days in advance. I ask her if I can come the next day and she says they are closed so come on Friday. I'm really nervous but I have already paid and have no other choice. I tell her I'll be there right when they open Friday morning. I show up Friday right at 10 (when they open)and NO ONE IS THERE. At this point I'm really freaking out-I call and text multiple times and I finally get a response back that there is traffic and they will be there shortly. 20 minutes later they finally show up. Have to take my dress out of their car which takes another 5 minutes. Dress is hung sideways on hanger and SMELLS TERRIBLE!! This place is unprofessional, EXPENSIVE, late, and does mediocre work at best. Do don't come here if you want to receive your alterations on time!!! read more

Someone recommended Mylinh to me many years ago (before Yelp!) after I'd had some not quite right experiences elsewhere and was looking for a new tailor. What a gift that recommendation turned out to be! Since then, Mylinh has done every type of tailoring there is for me and for my husband. From simple hems to tailoring workout clothes, suits, dresses, pants, ball gowns, even my wedding gown...I can't even count the number of projects we've given her over the years, and everything has always been done to PERFECTION. In every person's life, one needs a good hairdresser (see my previous review) and a good tailor (keep reading), esp petite women like me. I highly recommend Jean's Tailoring (there is no Jean, actually). The owner, Mylinh, does excellent alterations and she knows what she's doing. I am a lifelong seamstress and creative textile artisan, so I think I know a little about the subject of alterations. Also, I don't have the patience for fixing ill-fitting garments. My husband brought his Lululemon pants to Mylinh and she did immaculate work to make his slacks fit after 25 lbs. weight loss. He feels like he's got new clothes! Mylinh's prices are reasonable, esp considering how much time she spends making sure her customer is happy with the outcome. She does the job the way it's supposed to be done. Looking at her seams, I cannot tell that any work was done outside of the original sewing room. She's working on my garments now. I have complete faith in her needlework. read more

I have brought in at least 20-25 pants, shirts, blazers and suits over the past 7-8 years and I've never had a bad result or poor experience. Sure, it would be great if they were open Sundays and later than 5:30 pm during the week, which would make dropoffs and pickups easier, but everyone here is impossibly nice and diligent. I don't love the location - the tower and sign are visible from Lomas Santa Fe, but accessibility is poor. The adjacent Carl's Jr drive-through is a disaster, forcing cars to queue and enter on the wrong side of the drive-aisle, and if all the spaces past Carl's Jr are full, turning around can be difficult. I actually preferred the temporary space Jean Tailoring occupied when their part of the shopping center was being renovated a couple years ago. While in the shop over the years I've witnessed many interactions with other customers, including several in need of emergency alterations or corrections. Each time, at least while I was around, the Jean Tailoring staff has tried to help. Everyone I've met at Jean Tailoring has been really friendly and helpful, especially the very nice woman who handles the front of house. I have no hesitation trusting them with my tailoring and altering needs. read more

Don't use their service. My wedding dress was brought here by Mia Bella Couture for resizing. (I was not provided with the name of this shop by the bridal store.) The seamstress did not have my dress ready by the promise date. Unacceptable. Additionally, the price for resizing (minimal alteration) was absurd. If I had known that the bridal shop uses this seamstress, I would have elected to take my dress elsewhere on my own. read more

Will never set foot in there again! I have been a loyal customer of theirs for many years. I have brought my children's uniforms to them for several years, as well as any other dresses or pants our family needs altered or hemed. Today I was told that the three uniform skirts I had them alter were going to be $25 a PIECE! In total I was being charged $99 to hem 5 pieces of clothing. She ever only charged me $10-12 but today she had the nerve to tell me that the "rent had been raised" and the $25 she was charging me would not be changed. Unfortunately for them they have lost my business and that if any family member in the future. read more

MyLinh is totally amazing. There are not many people around these days who genuinely want to help and her talent is unbelievable. Mylingh went above and beyond to rescue my daughter from huge embarrassment when her long awaited team jersey turned up in an XS size. It was so tight and tiny and she could barely get it on. I didn't know how to fix it but brought it to MyLinh and she was incredible. She took the shirt overnight and altered it to be the perfect fit in time for the tournament the next day. MyLinh is amazing! Was my go-to tailor until I moved a long way from Solana Beach. Unluckily, found a bad tailor in new "hood; she managed to over-shorten by 1/2 inch to 1inch, or shorten one leg more than the other, 6 separate pairs of expensive pants,. After trying 3 different tailors in my new area, all of whom said pants could not be fixed, I took them to MyLinh. "No problem" she said, and there was none - and I now have my six pairs in working order. And, yes, she'll tell you if the tailoring will not be worth it, or suggest altering it in a better way. I called to see if they could fixed a suit jacket and have it ready the next day. They said they could for an additional fee, the price was fair and so I ran in to drop my stuff off, they were both very nice and accommodating. Got it the next day and it was done right. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I was referred to this place by the owner of Mia Bella Salon, where I purchased my wedding gown. Mailyn met me at the Salon where she did the measurements and pinning for my alterations. While pinning me, she actually looked up at me and said "You better not gain any weight". Rude. Like any bride wants to hear that. About a month later, I had to call them to come and try my dress on again. I came to try it on, and it was really really tight. I figured that it must be me (I am 5'8", 130lbs), so when I needed additional snaps put on the back, I figured it was an opportunity to watch it for a week. When I called them a week later to ask about it, she said it was not ready without even asking who I was. When I said, "Don't you need to know who I am?" She replied "I know who you are". WRONG and RUDE. I came back to get my dress and tried it on again. This time, it was just as tight, and even more uncomfortable. The tulle straps were so tight that they cut into my skin, the satin under the lace had being to ripple, and the bustle she made was so bad that it began to rip into the lace of my dress. Not wanting to deal with her anymore, I said I would take it as-is, and leave. At this point, instead of an apology I had her in my face telling me "You're fine". I am not fine! In the customer service industry, it is not your job to tell the customer how to feel, it is to make them happy by producing quality work. When it was time to pay, she said $180. I asked for an itemized receipt (not an unreasonable request), and she actually laughed at me. She said they don't do that, and proceeded to scribble down random amounts on my receipt and exclaim that "the sides took her a long time". Any LEGIT business has contracts to assure both parties are aware of the risks and have accountability. This place has ZERO integrity. After all this, I was hesitant to take the dress to another tailor. However, it was unwearable (and unbearable) and I could not imagine being THAT uncomfortable the entire time on my wedding day. I am now scrambling to get it fixed, and looking at $500 to reverse and fix all the butchering that was done to my dress. Margaret's in La Jolla has been nothing but professional, accommodating, and upfront about cost. All in all, if you don't have the skill to perform what is being asked on something as valuable (monetarily and sentimentally) as a wedding dress, do not agree to it. Mailyn was not only inept at what she does, she was shady with the prices, and unprofessional in communication and demeanor. I can't emphasize enough the importance of doing your homework with who you are entrusting you dress to. Despite being recommended by the Salon, if I had gone on Yelp first, I would never have gone there. read more

I use Jean's tailoring on a regular basis for hemming and repairs for my apparel business. I bring in 10-20 pieces a month and My-Linh has always done an excellent job on these items. My-Linh is friendly and fair and she does excellent work. One additional benefit is she is able to do a special stitch called flatlock that most tailoring places can not do. On occasion I will need something done right away, and My-Linh is quick to accomodate me if she is able to. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my tailoring needs. I highly recommend Jean's tailoring! I took a couple pairs of pants here to have some seems fixed. They told me it would be a week, which was fine and they looked it over and gave me a price. Well when I went to pick up my items the price was $2 more, which isn't a big deal however when I asked why it was more they said they had to do more work. I made the comment that I thought you already looked at it and that it would be "X" price, she said it is only $2.. You're right, it is only $2 so why charge me that when you didn't quote that. I feel that could have been handled differently, otherwise the quality of work is good. read more

Took in two $300 pairs of jeans to get hemmed. After having the jeans hemmed here, they are now about 1.5" shorter than I like to wear them. In addition, the seams on the hems are very crooked and the color of the threads does not match the seams on the jeans. I do not know how to sew yet I believe I could have done the same job with a needle and thread. Simply a pitiful job. I took the jeans back in and showed them how poorly of a job had been done. I received the jeans back with a proper hem as should have been done in the first place. read more

I took a two pairs of jeans in for a simple hem. Price listed was $9-$15. Fine, she charged me $30 for the pair. She wrote on my ticket $30 and when I went back to pick up the other girl tried to charge me $45.She proceeded to walk to the back of the store to call the owner making me wait when CLEARLY it was $30. I put $30 on the counter, grabbed my jeans and walked. I will not go back nor refer anyone else to them. Mylihn was sweet but this lady was rude. read more

I've used Jean's Tailoring for years for my alterations. They do excellent work overall. Beyond the standard tailoring for me of men's dress pants, blazers and jackets, they have done simply marvelous work tailoring overcoats. One was a 1960s Burberry from my father-in-law which required extensive alterations and the other was a steal of a deal Italian coat I found in Milan, which also required much detailing. I decided to give it another go because they are located by my place of work and my home. Not only did the they mess up on a hem for my pants, they wanted to charge me again to fix it! I took a nice wool coat in to get it taken in, and the lady told me that it would be really expensive to do that. She recommended instead that I just take in the sleeves and sides. I was a little leery about doing that, but she seemed very knowledgeable, so I said to do it. I was so pleased with the result! My coat now fits me wonderfully. I'm really happy that she suggested I do the second option, instead of just letting me pay more money. I've brought a lot of clothes in for my boss, and I don't think they deserve any of the three, two, or one star reviews. read more

I love this place. I am not going to say it is the cheapest, but sometimes when something is cheap, you get what you pay for. The service is great, they are excellent at what they do. I've taken several different kinds of items in here. Once I brought in a suit I wanted re-lined and they advised me that this wasn't cost effective. I feel like they aren't in business to just make money but do things that would benefit their clients. I have never had anything that I picked up not be exactly as I asked for it to be. read more
