I didn't have a rush but the gentleman that was helping me opened a calendar and I picked the Friday a week away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Based on their schedule and items I think they can work with you based on what they're showing and they seem to have a constant stream of work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I came back I noticed one of the items was upside down, to no fault as they're not familiar with the emblem, and the seamstress was able to fix it on the spot! I cannot believe how lucky I got with finding Maryam's Tailor Shop! I had gone to 2 other tailors that were closer to home and they were unable to make the complicated alterations on a screen accurate Rebel Pilot flight suit that I needed to have done in time for SD Comic Con...specifically because George Lucas will be in attendance for the very first time; every Star Wars nerd dream come true! And by sheer luck, I was actually interviewed by Lucas Museum's crew in Hall H that weekend...OMG. The minute the co-habby and I walked into her shop, we were greeted warmly by Maryam and her son Abtin. When I explained what I needed done, expecting to get turned away, she nodded and understood the assignment and said she could do it. But her kind demeanor sold me on her services immediately! Added bonus: I love that they were playing music softly through a record player by the store window...we are sticklers for vinyls. The flight suit I had was supposed to be made completely to my measurements from the Etsy seller I went through, but it was clearly made for a 6' man, lol. I am a mere 5' tall and the torso was way too long, the arms big and baggy and the overall fit was just huge on me. When I picked up the suit a couple of weeks later, she worked her magic and it fit! I did end up taking it back to bring the arms in a bit more because I decided I wanted it to be more fitted. We've since dropped off several more items for alterations, mostly my cosplay outfits and I am confident that they will be perfect every single time. The shop is located in a busy shopping center by Stater Bros., 24 Hour Fitness and across from a car wash so plan accordingly and make sure you note their store hours...it gets very busy there and parking can be a bit chaotic. Pricing is reasonable and turnaround time is fairly quick for the simpler jobs. Expect about a 2 week wait or so for more complicated altherations like mine. I'm sad to write this review. I brought my wedding dress to Maryam's after reading a slew of wonderful reviews. The best of the best, it seemed, did not turn out to be the case for me. My wedding dress needed taking in and shortening slightly at the bottom. Maryam seemed kind and attentive during the fitting, the cost was comparable with other shops, and the turn around time was reasonable. Upon picking up the dress and trying it on again, my partner and I noticed a stain on the back. It's small, but quite noticeable, like a coin-sized spash of dirty water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked about the stain, Maryam was surprised, but offered no acknowledgement of a mistake on behalf of the shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our observation was turned around on us as if we had brought in a brand new dress with a stain and not noticed it while my partner, Maryam and I had all eyes on the dress from every angle during the fitting process. I was in the dress for quite some time then -- we would have noticed a stain. My partner and I looked over the dress thoroughly before bringing it into the shop, and it took all of two seconds into the second time trying it on to notice the stain. Because Maryam did not want to acknowledge the possibility of fault, we are now having to bear the cost to remove it (over a third of the cost of the alteration!). We also noticed that the fit hadn't turned out quite as expected. This isn't necessarily unusual -- many folks go through more than one round of alterations -- but there was no offer of a solution, nor acknowledgement that I didn't feel right. My dress has a keyhole opening in the back, and because it was taken in from both sides, the keyhole now bulges out, giving me quite a hump in my mid-back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked about the bulging, I got "It's normal! You look beautiful!" in response, but I didn't feel beautiful. It looked and felt off (my partner agrees), and I was on the verge of tears.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Another bride was in the room looking very happy, and I didn't want to ruin her experience. Maybe fashion tape will help. I ended up asking Maryam if she'd be willing to give us a partial refund to cover the cost of removing the stain. She refused, saying that the stain had already been there when we dropped off the dress, even though she was surprised when I pointed it out and none of us talked about it at the first fitting. She did offer to help me fix the fit the dress after I again shared my concerns, but I no longer feel comfortable going to her shop for help. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've learned from our exchange that her perspective is more important than what both my partner and I saw and experienced.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the fact that this should have been one of the most important dresses I'd ever wear. Despite the fact that we paid her for a service and trusted her with the whole dress, not just the parts that were specifically tailored. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was supposed to feel confident and comfortable, but both of my concerns about the dress were diminished and minimized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our wedding is just under four months away, and we're looking at back up dresses now, because the cost to alter, clean, and attempt to make the dress "better" is more than it's worth to keep the vision alive. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. [[HIGHLIGHT]]UPDATE: Maryam's comment below highlights my point. In our message correspondence on Yelp a few days after pick up, Maryam claimed that the stain was already present at the first fitting (you can see her words in the image attached), but her response to my review (below) contradicts that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No stain was noted during the initial fitting, because no stain was present at that time. Loved how my coats turned out! I had two coats I needed to alter. My leather jacket was tricky and I had asked a few shops if they could shorten the sleeves but most said no. Maryam's said yes and she did an amazing job. My jacket also had zippers on the sleeves and she shortened them. It looks and fits great now! My other coat seemed a bit more simple as there were no zippers and the material was thinner. I will definitely use their services again. read more

She helped me hem the 2 inner layers. Its a boho style with lace on top dress. She also added a one clip bustle. Simple is best. Others quoted me much more for 5, 7 or 9 clip bustles but my dress doesn't need it and I didn't know what I needed. Her turnaround time was 1 week, which was perfect. Her price is very reasonable. I came to Maryam's a day before I flew across the country to attend a wedding. She did a fabulous job on my rush order, and I was very pleased. She made sure that I tried on the dress before and after to ensure my satisfaction, which was a HUGE deal for me. I've taken this dress to two other tailors who pretty much shrugged at me and said they couldn't alter the dress how I wanted it, which was to have the skirt taken in a bit (it seemed like a reasonable request to me...idk). Maryam not only did that but skilfully removed the two pockets in my dress that added to the skirt's bulk and reinforced some of the loose stitching around the seams on the bodice. This dress is a delicate silk blend, and you can tell that she handled it with great precision. I paid $56 for this rush job, which took under 2 hours and cost less than I anticipated. This lady has the cheapest prices for hemming by far (got quotes) and she was able to do same day service. She was literally done hemming them in 10 min.
