Had a few things that needed minor alterations. I assumed a business in Del Mar would be crazy expensive, but was very pleasantly surprised. Same prices as most places despite the high rent. They did the alterations on time, and the alterations were excellent. All I can say is I cried. After having my son I gained 20 pounds. They worked so hard to make my dream dress look perfect I cried when I took my dress back home. They did everything they could to make sure I could go home with a 1 of 1 wedding dress. I'm very blessed to have done business with them. With rush and less then a week until my wedding the price was more then perfect. I can't thank them enough. 10/10! Tracy is an absolute miracle worker. I very last minute decided that my bridesmaid dress for my best friend's wedding needed an adjustment ~two~ days (do not recommend) before the wedding. I had a strong feeling that this was most likely not possible as most tailors are normally booked for weeks in advance and of course need time to make said adjustments! Nevertheless, I stopped by Elegant Tailor and Cleaners in pure desperation, really hoping that somehow it would be possible and boy did I get lucky! Tracy was able to do a complete turn around and have my dress ready in 2 days. Unbelievable. On top of that, she made it 10x more flattering than I could have possibly imagined! This was a very cheap Amazon dress that did not do me any favors but by the time that Tracy was done with it, you would have no idea. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I could not recommend Tracy more, she was so kind, professional, quick and such a pro.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Reasonable pricing as well! I will definitely be back. read more

They do good job on alterations but the price is sooooo expensive. A minute you told them anything relates to a wedding, they jacked up the price. For just shortening my evening dress, nothing else, and it's not a wedding gown, the owner charged 3 times more than other places.. AMAZING work! I had to get my dress altered and they agreed to have it ready in 3 days by noon. I got there to find out that it wasn't ready, and was asked to come back in 2 hours. It needed a few more adjustments when I got there, but it looked PERFECT at the end. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from Jana Ann Couture up the street, but their regular seamstress went on vacation during the timeframe that I needed my dress altered for my wedding, so they recommended I go to Elegant Tailor. I went ahead and trusted their recommendation, so didn't do much research in advance, but ended up having a great experience. I do wish their dressing room was a little bit bigger, but otherwise, the ladies working are so freindly and made me feel comfortable enough. They finished my dress on time and spent the time necessary to make sure that it was altered properly. They also made a video of my gown being bustled so that it would be easier for my bridesmaids to bustle my dress at the wedding. It ended up not being bustled properly, but it was the thought that counts! hah I also felt that their rates were on par with other tailors, which I was a little surprised seeing as how they are located in Del Mar, so I expected much higher pricing. read more

I have to say it's challenging to find a good and reliable tailor. After some solid "yelping", I found this place and decided to go w it based on the reviews. Thank you fellow yelpers! The owner was very sweet and honest. I brought several items in and asked about different alterations and she would tell me changing some items would make them ugly. Most people would just say sure let me do it and take the business but she was truly honest and made recommendations. I had three items altered/fixed and they turned out perfect! Her work is impeccable. I felt like her prices were fair as well. Needless to say, this will be my go to spot. Highly recommend! read more

Our go-to Tailor. My wife's been coming here for years, mostly for pant hemming. They are very efficient. Walk in, change, get pinned and done. You can pay when you pick up. Hemming is always spot on. Never had issues. Parking right in front and easy to find. read more

Tracy was amazing to work with for my wedding dress! When I first called to get a quote, the front desk person said Tracy (the main seamstress) was busy and would call back later. She did! Gave me a quote and after seeing the dress, the estimate didn't change much. (Other alterations were AT LEAST $100-$200 more. My dress was really big, missing sequins and pearls and she was confident the entire time of accomplishing the task. We planned to shortened the straps, bring in the waist, shortened the train a bit, add a bustle and tighten the thigh area. It was a 1 and done shot! She gave me a 2.5 week date of it being done and it was done. Finding Tracy was clutch!! She's even altering my fiancés reception suit! Thank you Tracy!! read more

I came here to get a panel and the chest brought in on my dress and had it back within a week ! Tracy and her sister take pride in all the work they do and it shows . This is a family owned and operated business that has been providing quality cleaning services and expert alterations to residents and visitors in Del Mar, Carmel Valley, Solana Beach, and Rancho Santa Fe. Meet the Business Owner: Tracy D.

Tracy has always loved the creativity of fashion and decided to pursue her passion at Cal State University in Long Beach. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design, Tracy worked for many fashion companies in Orange County and Los Angeles as an assistant designer and pattern maker. Her experiences gave her the opportunity to open her own tailoring business in Houston, Texas and now in Del Mar, California. Tracy can easily alter clothing, work with any fabric from fur to leather, and create any items upon request.

Then I ran across GoodLife Laundry Service and honestly it seemed too easy and reasonable not to try. I went on line set up my preferences and scheduled a pick up. I had everything from towels, to linens, to clothing picked up. It was picked up before noon and delivered back the same day! Everything was folded to my specifications, things were hung, and everything smelled great. You can specify what kind of detergent you want including eco friendly ones or regular ones or you can send your own. If this had been the condition when I dropped it off, they should have marked or mentioned it, but they didn't -- because it wasn't. The damage clearly happened while it was in their care. To make things worse, when I returned to have it fixed, they wanted to charge me an additional $10 -- to fix damage they caused. Completely unprofessional. Between the poor cleaning, the damage, and being charged extra for their own mistake, I can't recommend this place to anyone.

I can agree that the jacket was not meant to be dry cleaned but I was relying on their expertise to advise me to use their service or not and of course I should have not relied on them. They refused to take any accountability and damaged my jacket. They did offer to try to clean again but it would ludicrous to let them try again when they caused this much damage the first time, I was only seeking refund on a $17 service from which they didn't execute carefully. TLDR: they ruined my jacket and refused to admit their mistake.

For starters, and on a positive note, the people working here are extremely friendly, helpful and nice. That said, I would have to advise people not to bring their high-end furs, leathers, hand-made clothing, and especially ski jackets here. I brought my Italian made, leather trim ski jacket here that needed some spot cleaning and was told this was definitely a service they specialized in and provided. Unfortunately that was not the case. My jacket was returned with most of the skiing dirt spots gone, but now had new stains around the leather trim where the leather coloring had leaked onto the jacket. As well, the leather trim had faded (I know this for certain because I have another piece to the jacket I kept from the cleaners). And the worst part, a small decal had fallen off during cleaning and was haphazardly sewn back on. My overall complaint is (1) They should not have claimed to be experts in this specialty cleaning field and/or researched their leather trim and fur vendor a bit better (2) Should have called me right away when things were not going well (i.e. especially when the logo decal fell off). This jacket is over $1000 and now worthless because of the un-fixable decal sewing job on the arm of the jacket and the leather stains around the trim. I wish this cleaning store only the best, but feel I have to say something about specialty clothing for future customers. read more

Exceptional. Recently, I moved from Hell's Kitchen NYC to Del Mar. With my clothes in boxes for a time I was eager to have everything dry-cleaned, naturally. I Yelped the highest rated places near me and discovered Elegant Tailor and Cleaners. They did not disappoint. I'm very particular with my clothes -not to sound like a jerk, but they are high-end (Paul Smith, CDG, etc.) and I get everything, even my slim fit sweaters, tailored. Suits, shirts, ties, sport coats, pants, everything came out really well. A couple of weeks ago I was staring at my drawers and noticed that I have all these comfortable Marine Layer T-Shirts that I never wear. I wear my V-neck T-Shirts from Marine Layer every single day, but the crew necks with the nice California vibe logos sit. A complete waste! I brought one crewneck to Elegant to see if they could turn it into a V-Neck and they did. Oh, and it was awesome!! I didn't have high-expectations and figured it was sunk cost so whatever. My other option was to give them away. The first turned out so well that I brought 8 more crewnecks that they turned into V-necks for me. They did an exceptional job!! The stitching is beautiful and uniform. This is a small business we should feel really good about supporting. Having an incredible tailor is key and I'm very thankful for Elegant!! read more

I had such a wonderful experience with my wedding dress tailors and highly recommend them! From the beginning, they were incredibly honest, transparent, and thoughtful about helping me find alteration options that fit within my budget, which I really appreciated during an already expensive wedding planning process. My dress was fairly complicated, with many layers and details, and also needed a bustle, but they handled everything beautifully and far more quickly than I expected. The final result fit wonderfully, looked seamless, and you could really tell they knew what they were doing. Beyond the quality of the work, they were professional, efficient, and easy to work with throughout the process. I had a wonderful experience with Tracy at Elegant Tailor. I bought a custom wedding dress from Jana Ann Couture, but it still needed a lot of alterations to get it to fit perfectly. The dress train was also a lot longer than I originally hoped and the fit was too large. I was so worried when I first tried it on, but Tracy worked her magic and altered it into my dream wedding dress. It now fits perfectly and I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day. After the initial try on with Tracy, we needed two more appointments to finalize everything, so plan ahead to make sure you have enough time. I also asked her to tailor my traditional Asian qipao dress, which she agreed to do, and it turned out great as well. Tracy is so sweet and a pleasure to work with. I think you should not even consider going to any other place than Elegant Tailor! Everyone here is INCREDIBLY KIND AND FRIENDLY! They will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING for you to be happy with the end result if you are getting anything altered. Even though I came in a tight timeframe to get my dress altered, even with the holidays in between, they were able to finish everything within 4 days!!! And they literally recreated the dress because all I liked about it was the fabric. Tracy is hands down my favorite tailor. I've been going to her since 2011. I found her because I lived in Del Mar for several years, and even though I've moved further away I still drive out of my way to go to her. She does incredible work, is reliable, very affordable and turns things around when you need them. I am petite, so I get almost everything I purchase altered and I have never been disappointed. She is currently altering my wedding dress, and after one check-in, it's already fitting like a glove. I can't wait for the final fit. read more
