I had the chicken fajitas against my better judgement. I was convinced to give them a chance despite this not being a Mexican restaurant because the fajitas are listed as a specialty for the restaurant. It was beyond horrible. Zero flavor, the peppers and onions were undercooked and the chicken while cooked, looked horrendous and tasted even worse. The refried beans looked and tasted like a mix between Alpo and Old El Paso. If that's a specialty for the restaurant, I'd really hate to try any other dish. After a couple bites of the food provided, the thought of eating more left me feeling queasy. Additionally, I've now gotten sick twice since leaving the restaurant. I'm not typically one to write a bad review unless it's beyond deserving and this "meal" was absolutely that. Do not under any circumstances order the chicken fajitas from this restaurant. I'd go one further and advise against ordering anything that could be considered Mexican cuisine. read more

Love that the beef is grass fed and locally grown. You can really tell the difference between a good quality burger and something from a fast food chain. Atmosphere has a homey feeling to it. I would compare that aspect to Cracker Barrel but smaller. I've been to this restaurant twice now and both times I can say I've been pretty pleased with the service as well as the food. The fries are amazing! So crispy and crunchy. On the more busy day of my two visits, I was told there would be a 20 minute wait. I don't think it ended up being quite that long. But there are plenty of things to keep you at bay until your name is called. This place is a little old fashioned but I like it which adds to the homey feeling. A must if you are in the Lowville area or passing through. Not very expensive at all either. I think I have paid $50 in the two visits which includes the meals for my wife and I. read more

We were staying in nearby Stillwater and decided to travel "to town" for some lunch. We stopped at Jeb's and this place did not disappoint. Although the layout of the restaurant was something of a hodge podge design the menu afforded an option for many palates. I was truly surprised at the number of choices on the menu. I settled on the steak and mushroom fettuccini alfredo and it was absolutely amazing!!!! So tasty that I have plans for making the dish some day for my family. The portions are generous but I do think their prices are a touch high for a small town eatery. Although, I would (and did) return for another visit. I believe they are pretty tasty but I think they are capitalizing on being one of only a few gigs in town. read more

First off, we aren't a small family. Our party totaled 9, 5 kids and 4 adults. We showed up with our a reservation and only waited approximately 30 minutes for a table during what looked to be a busy time. Upon being seated they did all they could to accommodate my 4 littles and make sure we all knew where their specials were. After opening the menu, I was shocked to see really reasonable prices for the meals being offered. We all ordered and our food came in such a reasonable time considering the diversity of our tables order. The kid meal was AWESOME! The two entrées was big enough to feed two of my children (2 and 4 yr old). They also promptly brought out an additional plate to help me split it into two. My dinner was the chimichanga! It was HUGE. Very crispy and flavorful. It wasn't your general Mexican chimichanga but again was very tasty. My husband got the full rack of ribs and they were melt off the bone spot on! The sauce for them had just enough kick and flavor as well. The other meals at the table were also very tasty and very filling. Not a single one of us left that table hungry or even thinking of another food item. Before we left the owner even came to our table and welcomed us to the neighborhood and even referred some other restaurants to try out! How awesome is that! When the bill came, I was shocked that it came to less that $100. It left me pleased, full and open to referring anyone and everyone I know to enjoy their meals at Jeb's. While Lowville has only a few options, Jeb's was pretty decent and a nice recommendation from co-workers. Mostly an eclectic variety of comfort foods, from the special of Chicken Florentine and pasta dishes, to steak, tacos and bar style food. The interior was the usual cozy country 'Cracker Barrel' aesthetic / tin ceiling 1800s style saloon. It looks small from the outside but opens up in to another room and then a bar area. The group liked the simple deserts more than anything, like the strawberry shake and sundae. Rumor has it there is a 'Temptation Island' dessert. read more

Had a pretty nice dinner here this past Saturday. We got in a little before 7 pm and there was a 15-20 minute wait. I asked if we could wait at the bar and the hostess said that she would come get us when the table was ready. Knowing Jeb's has happy hour Monday-Saturday we got a few beers while we sat for $2 a bottle. The restaurant was packed, understandable for the weekend. We were seated and ordered fish tacos w/ garlic mashed potatoes and french fries (yeah we know it's not the typical side choice!) and the shrimp basket also with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Both were around $10. The fish tacos were decent, I guess I am biased coming from Arizona where authentic Mexican food is all over the place. Mashed potatoes A+ creamy yet chunky at the same time, plus the perfect amount of garlic and butter. Their fries surprised me, usually I'm not a big french fry fan, but I couldn't stop myself from picking up a few of the crispy, crunchy, almost hollow they were so light inside fries. A part of me wanted to get an extra side order! Shrimp was better than I expected, not just one but two fried together, and I think they used Panko breading (my favorite.) I would have liked more than one small cup of cocktail sauce but I managed! The coleslaw, ehhh. I am pretty picky when it comes to my coleslaw and this didn't jump hurdles for me. It was cut way too thick so I had a hard time chewing, and the sauce tasted of too much mayo. Some how we had room for dessert and on the recommendation from our lovely bartender we ordered the Temptation island which consisted of a rich chocolate cake slice with a layer of chocolate mousse, two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream, melted PEANUT BUTTER, whole walnuts, hot fudge, and whipped cream. I wish I could have eaten at least half of this thing but I didn't want to venture into antacid land. My boyfriend was a champ and finished it for us both. We were from out of town looking for some place to have lunch. Jeb's was a nice surprise! The decor was interesting and adorable, the restaurant was clean, the wait staff was excellent, and the food was fantastic. We each had a salad, plus I had the soup of the day, and we had the potato skins. Everything was excellent, and all of the food coming out to other tables looked excellent as well. The portions were generous but not ridiculous, and the menu is loaded with options. There was no gluten-free menu, but there were plenty of choices for someone who is gluten-free, and the cook staff was very sensitive to our needs. I've eaten here a couple of times while in the North Country. The food has always been good and the service friendly. There is also a bar attached that has several dart boards and looks like a fun place. Prices are very reasonable and about right for the area. If you happen to be in Lowville give Jebs a try. I can't say I particularly enjoyed my lunch experience at Jeb's My $10.50 Tex mex bowl left me hungry at the end of it. For a meal totaling a little over $16 (w/a drink tax and tip), I guess I just expected more. First visit and definitely not our last! I got the Ken chicken sandwich and it was flavorful and super good. The fries were crispy and addicting. Husband got the chicken popper sandwich and wasn't impressed with the fried patty but it was good overall. The garlic mashed potatoes were good too. We visit relatives near Lowville two or three times a year and stop at Jeb's at least once. Usually my wife and I do not order mixed drinks but on this occasion my wife ordered a White Russian and myself a Manhattan with our meals. The meals were fine but the drinks were unbelievably bad. As far as I could detect there was no alcohol in the drink at all. My wife who is very sensitive to alcohol drank hers down with no affect at all. My Manhattan tasted like some type of syrup in water with absolutely no kick to it. I complained to the waitress and she took my drink and said she added another shot of "APA" ??? and charged me another $3.00 for the drink. The drink just got sweeter. I left the drink on the table and paid the bill which the waitress deducted $2.00. If you eat at Jeb's the food is fine just don't order a drink with your meal. read more
