I had a very good experience with Dr. Strachan. Maybe things have changed since Janice P's review in May 2011, but I was not waiting in the waiting room for very long. After I filled out the paperwork since I was a new patient, I was quickly whisked into a room to be seen. Dr. Strachan listened to everything I had to say and did a very thorough check-up. His technology seems to be very up to date (getting x-rays with him was a breeze). He was not rough and I wasn't in any pain throughout my entire teeth cleaning. He was very professional and had given me tips on things to look out for (I naturally don't have wisdom teeth on my lower jaw and he told me the wisdom teeth, although not impacted, may start to come down over time). I am not a big fan of going to the dentist. I have a lot of trouble showing up every six months for a check-up and cleaning. But when I do finally put in an appearance, after, say, a year's absence, Dr. Strachan doesn't lecture me. He just welcomes me back and gets down to business, finds the cavities and fills them. He does good work. I enjoy my conversations with him (when my mouth isn't full). His office is always pleasant and welcoming. His assistants seem to be dentists in training, nice kids, very conscientious. My previous dentist tried to get me to replace every filling in my mouth, which, I'm pretty sure, had more to do with increasing his revenue stream than it did with advancing my dental health. Dr. Strachan isn't like that. He isn't trying to sell me anything. He's just doing what needs to be done and doing it well. And that's exactly what you want from a dentist, right? read more

Do not trust Dr. Strachan. He sent a bill to my insurance for a procedure that was not asked for nor was it ever performed. When you're there, he cleans only halfway and asks that you go back for a "deep cleaning" so that he can double book appointments. read more

His chair-side manner is great; straight-forward, polite and no BS. over the years I have seen his office continually upgrade technology and stay up on the dental technology curve. He knows his stuff. I love his staff who are always pleasant and accommodating. For all the years I've been seeing Dr. Strachan, I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes for my appointment. do not use this dentist office unless you are unemployed and can afford to wait around for over one hour without any courtesies. I made an appointment for 5:30pm because I did not want to interrupt my work day. I was asked to switch to earlier in the day. I arrived at 10:30. I was kept in the examining room with a bib on for 50 minutes. Not once was I told "we'll be with you shortly" not one customer courtsesy. Once I decided to leave, there wasn't an apology. Apparently if the staff wants to get out early, the patient must change their appointment and be ready to wait. Unacceptable. I'll stick to my Manhattan dentist. read more

This guy is very unprofessional and rude. He cause permanent damage to my upper lips after a dental implant. I'm willing to bet money he took a weekend crash course to perform those implants and is not qualified to do more than cleaning or maybe root canal. He settled and returned my money after I wrote a letter to the Brooklyn Dental society to complain about his behavior. read more

Dr. Strachan and his staff are skilled, professional and courteous - actually, more than courteous - warm and caring. My teeth are fragile - I clench them at night, so I have extensive experience with complicated dentistry, and Dr. Stratchen is wonderful. He not only provided excellent emergency care, he also repaired a crown that was made by another dentist. That crown actually fell out, and Dr. Stratchen fixed it the day I called. Wait times have been minimal, his staff is kind and helpful, and Dr. Stratchen is amazing. I would, and have, recommended him to friends and family. read more
