I found two things here that I know I could not find anywhere else, truly, and both things are now like prized possessions. My daughter was looking for a skirt for a Stevie Nicks costume and found the most incredible asymmetrical black skirt that I might steal from her when she is done using it But the mystical icing on the cake is the most incredible labradorite necklace that I've ever seen. I've attached a picture because words do not describe the beauty of this piece. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's intricately woven together to make it one of the most beautiful statement pieces I have. The selection here is really incredible and I can't say enough about the kind sales associate that helped us. I also loved the belle of the ball, their adorable little dog that clearly has the run of the roost. When you're out of town, any little canine companion is helpful if you're missing your own dog lol. This place is fantastic and I will always be a must see anytime we're on the island.

Pulled into Volcano to help out in the community and ended up finding a spot that caught me off…read moreguard in the best way. We were next door and wandered into Kīlauea Kreations and right away you feel that aloha spirit. Not forced, not for show... just real people being good people. What stood out the most was the hospitality. They actually took a moment to thank us for being there and helping out, and that meant something. You don't expect that walking into a shop, but it stuck with me. Of course we didn't leave empty handed. Our team grabbed a few things and I picked up two hats myself. If you're anywhere near Volcano, stop in and support this place. Good people, good energy, simple as that.

The current workers are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered there. The lady that is…read more"in charge" denies toys, clothing, etc. She told me my freshly washed clothes were junk and that she would not except them. I told her they were not dirty and she could smell them if she liked she said "NO"! that is fine but I didn't know that she was the leader in standards, the clothing she was wearing was not that great so I'm not sure why she would act like that, its a donation center. Im just wondering if she just doesn't want to have to sort them, or just do a decent job. The past few years the way it is being ran is a disgrace, I have gone there many times and most of the clothes in the bins were not in as good of condition as the stuff I was donating. Who is she to say what the community wants or needs. To top it all off the pricing is outrageous for donated items. Its sad, I was donating that stuff so others could find clothing and toys at an affordable rate but I GUESS THAT DOESN"T EXIST ANYWHERE IN THIS STATE. For shame on your company and workers. I have been there a few times since she has started and I can only say she has never been kind to me. I think maybe you should find people that want to do the job, are happy to have the job. If you don't like what you do move on. In a state where everything is so expensive they should be ashamed of themselves and the way they treat people. I will tell everyone I know how crappy the service is, how rude they are to people,. It borders on hatefulness the way they act over there. Take a note of how awesome the donation center used to be before covid-I'm not sure what has changed over the years besides the quality of workers that they hire. Maybe that is intentional, I don't know but I do know that business' don't last long, or if they are still around aren't profiting like they used to. Keep that in mind. I will never shop there nor will I ever donate anything there. I will just give it away first, throw it away(good stuff, that's a shame), maybe I will just take it to a competitor just for spite

I have been donating to this store for about 8 years with no problems - last week, and today, March…read more14, I was met by two women who accept the donations at the back entrance to the store building I had brought a number of items last week, including 2 sets of brand new Christmas dishes, 3 small appliances that all worked fine, a large popcorn popping machine that was brand new and a number of clothes - all of these things had been in storage for about a year, but now we had to clear it all out so I was bringing it all to this store - I had not noticed that one of the bags of clothes had a clump of something that looked like cat hair on the top shirt - the older woman looked at that, and rifled through the bag for a second, announced that everything was covered in cat hair, and she didn't want any of it - I apologized, even though I knew everything had been washed and folded before they had been put in the bag and took the bag back home - I got rid of the top shirt with the hair on it, pulled everything back out of the bag, shook them out, folded them again, and put them back into a rainbow colored, large rope tote bag that I was also donating I brought this all back to the transfer station thrift store today, and the second woman who had been there last week rudely said "so, do any of these clothes have cat hair all over them?" - I said no, they didn't, and she still rifled though them, obviously not believing me - I put another small bag of clean clothes on the table, and thanked her - she have me stink eye, never thanked me for anything, and I left Needless to say, I will never be back to this store with donations again - I recommend that anyone reading this save yourself from this bad attitude and take your donations to Salvation Army, Goodwill or any number of homeless shelters in Hilo - do not waste your time giving to this place that clearly does not appreciate what they are getting and do not know how to show gratitude

What brought me here to the Kea'au Shopping Center???…read more Oh yeah, I came here just for one store...........Foodland!!! While working in Hilo yesterday, when it was lunch time I decided to visit an old skool drive-in called "K's Drive In", and if you thought that little shrimp burger I ate for lunch was enough sustenance for Bruddah Fran, then you thought wrong!!! Lol! And that's why later in the afternoon I had to drive all the way to Kea'au town to stop by this little shopping complex called - "Kea'au Shopping Center", just to visit the Foodland store. Built in the 80's (1982 to be exact, as you can see it in the sign), this little shopping complex mainly serves the Puna district, and the surrounding areas. Some of the businesses I saw at the Kea'au shopping complex - 1. Foodland 2. Kea'au Natural Foods 3. Ace Hardware Store 4. Suds & Duds Laundromat 5. Lemongrass Vietnamese & Thai Food 6. Supercuts 7. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 8. La Uma Samoa 9. Sandorra Floral Designs 10. Subway Sandwiches And right across the street from the "Kea'au Shopping Center", I saw the follow businesses - 1. McDonalds (but of course.......they're everywhere!) 2. Shell Gas Station & Convenience store 3. Longs Drugs 4. HFS Credit Union As small as the Kea'au Shopping Center is, I found the shopping complex to be bustling with folks, and am very happy to see some of the locally owned businesses doing well. Got to Foodland, and got my afternoon "snack"...........you will see what I picked up in my following review! :D If you're in da boonies..........good thing that the Kea'au Shopping Center is here to serve the folks in the Puna district.

Had some problems with this store a few years ago, and they are now giving receipts and have stabilized the rewards program. Despite feedback that the cashiers are NOT stoned, ha ha dude, they ARE, but it's ok now that they're giving receipts. HOWEVER I've had problems with the quality of their tobacco several times now. When you buy a pound of tobacco for $35, you expect to be able to make cigarettes with it. But 2 out of the last 3 times I've bought tobacco there, the tobacco was "off" in that it was not the right consistency or moisture level to make cigarettes in my top-o-matic machine. Ruined a lot of cigs, wasted a lot of effort, very frustrating. Maybe they're not storing it properly? It's just weird that I've never had a problem with Orchidland tobacco, and they're a hardware store?! Ok whatevs, you all focus on your Kratom and pipes biz, but tobacco smokers beware.
