The owner of the company threatened to return to my home and harm me. This was AFTER being paid in full and leaving for the day. The owner called repeatedly yelling, cursing and calling me a 'fat bitch' because we expressed that our review would state that the movers quit mid-job. We contracted for a large move. They didn't move everything, their truck was too small, and they quit in the middle of the move. We paid for 3 movers only 2 worked, while the owner mostly whined and complained it was too hot. The owner was verbally abusive about my son in law not helping them when we hired their company to do the move. My son in law was there to put stuff together because we already hired movers. The owner didn't want to work in the heat. We offered to give a few hours off but he wanted to return the next day which was not what we agreed to when we hired them. They did not unload my refrigerator, deep freezer, washer, dryer and beds. In addition to a full half of truck, in violation of our written agreement. We had to call another moving company, after these movers walked away with the job half finished, and pay them to finish the job. I've had to notify police of the company owners threat and plan to notify the BBB as well. Do not use this absolutely atrocious company. read more

I would not recommend Jeff and Jeff Star Movers. I was excited to see Jeff Star Movers initially. The day before moving Jeff called to move the time because they did not want to buy another truck to accommodated the time they offered and promised to me. That was not a huge deal. The day of the move, the mover Leonard, called to ask for the address and items he was moving. This information was spelled out in contract but I assume Jeff and his movers do not communicate. Midway through the way, I received a call to say that the footboard of my gorgeous bed was broken in the truck. Jeff texted me to say "this is how they had it on the truck, no shrink wrap or blankets or nothin smh nothing ever goes right when I'm not there". I sympathize with Jeff, as a local business owner, and I understand. Jeff mentioned how he would make sure it's fixed and so on. Maybe 20 minutes later, Jeff says that he's just going to give me a free move.. later he explained that I don't have to pay the remaining $250 that I owed, after paying the service fee/deposit. I replied to him with a question about it and he told me to have a good day. I just had one question. His attitude was very rude for no reason. He types back with a photo of his children by a bed and he says, "the wood is not real, they be selling people fake room sets". This was said to say that I should feel okay that my set was broken because the bedroom sets wood aren't real nowadays. HOWEVER, my bedroom set was not broken prior to them touching it, not shrink wrapping it or caring for it. All in all, Jeff was apologetic until he starting having an attitude. As a business owner, you should be apologetic and try to satisfy the customer's needs. Do not be rude to them or tell them that bedroom sets aren't reliable anymore. He sounded very aggressive and argumentative, I felt like he was trying to intimidate me in order not to file a claim or compensate me for the broken bed. I WOULD NOT recommend Jeff Star moving, based solely on his irresponsible movers, his bad attitude, and lack of awareness. I am of thinking of filling an insurance claim and I still have to spend a few hundred to buy a new bedroom set now. read more

I'm late in posting this review but back in March, I had the opportunity to work with Jeff Star Movers for the second time (the first back in 2019). I absolutely adore this company, Jeff Star and his employees. Everyone is extremely polite. We understand that sometimes things happen and items are damaged in a move, however Jeff and his employees took EXTREME care with our possessions AND everything arrived with NO damage. The value for their hard work was exceptionally fair. Scheduled a move for 9:30 am on a Thursday. Jeff was a very good communicator as I checked in the day before to make sure we were set. Thursday morning he said it was raining so was going to take a 2 hour job in Toledo. Said he would be at my house at 1. Then said it would be between 4-4:30. Then 6. Very professional, polite, hard working, reasonable, fast and CAREFUL. The entire process from the beginning to the end was seamless. only reason I'm giving this company 1 star is because of the crew that handled my items. at first Jeff the owner came across as nice, professional and focused. my move did involve a LOT of boxes but not a lot of furniture or appliance. it took 6 hours on day one (plus an hour to get back to the office 12 miles away from the storage location) and I was charged for 8 hours. I questioned why I was charged 8 hours and corrected the math with Jackie and Jeff went ballistic. he accused me of trying to scam him out of money. he even sent me texts into the evening with o e being of a U-Haul truck with the caption "see, I'm still working". I'm a customer not your buddy and dont care how late you work. Day 2 - Jeff and crew and full moving truck show up late at the storage unit place. while the crew are unloading, he approaches me asking for a favor. the favor was would it be ok for the crew to complete a "quick job" before they went back to my old residence to get the remainder of my property. he claimed he would only charge me labor and no transportation for the day if I helped him out. we discussed the approximate time I should expect them to return and the claim was "3:30-4:00". ok, I can do that; so signed and they finished unloading (took an hour and 15 minutes). well, the crew showed up at 5:15 for load #2. took them 90 minutes to load. my bill was for TWO moving sessions of 2 hours each AND a total of an hour for transportation. oh and the kicker is that he instructed his crew to load and NOT deliver the load until the next day (day 3) as the customer he did not mention it to me, as if it was ok, or was I even available.I had to work on day 3 due to a customer issue and in fact wasn't available. I wasn't able to find anyone to cover for me at the unloading or at work so had a stressful day. oh and hie sent me a text the evening of day two stating that the truck would not be unloaded the next morning until I paid the bill ahead of time. this came with emoges of a truck and a padlock. oh and course the boss was for a minimum of 2 hours and 30 minutes transportation. the move cost me $2130. he is one of the most unprofessional business owners I've ever encountered. he's a bigot and even took it upon himself to join a personal conversation in my home that I was having with my friends. nope, dude - you were there to load my belongings into a truck, not to hang out. my advise is to avoid Jeff Star Movers at all costs. want to have your integrity questioned? how about be over charged by at least $1000? nit treated like a paying customer and decisions made without your knowledge? then hire this hustler. because you'll end up with a long drawn out experience where he keeps charging you for doing him favors. read more

Jeff and his team helped us move last Friday, 1/11. He responded quickly to my initial request and stayed in communication throughout the entire process. They were on time and professional throughout the entire process. He even added an additional stop on the way to the final location to drop off a couple items. We definitely had more stuff that we thought -- but, Jeff and team took great care of our items and we felt comfortable knowing they were in charge of our move. I am still in shock by my the horrible conversation I just had with Jeff the owner of Jeff Star Movers. As a woman I have never had any man insult me or speak to me the way that Jeff just did. Our move was earlier this month and went very well (or so I thought). Jeff showed up on time and brought 3 extra guys with him, his prices were also very fair, which was very much appreciated. They moved our house in 6 hours and the movers were friendly and hard working. This is more than I can say for the owner, who appeared to have amazing customer service until today. During the move a table was broken (see pictures below) he told us by saying "You know that wobbly table you had..." Anyway we moved passed that (the table was weak in one of the legs) and didn't make a big deal but I felt he just should have said sorry, we broke the table. Then at the old home there were a few dents in the drywall and scratches on our wood floor made by the movers. We brought them to Jeff's attention at the old house and asked for them to be extra careful especially when moving furniture into the new house, however a dent happened at the new house as well. We weren't terribly alarmed because after the move was complete, Jeff told us he has someone on his team that would come back and fix the dents. Well today it's been over two weeks and we did not hear anything so I texted him the pictures of the dents/scratches and asked when someone would come to fix them. He called me back and told me we didn't sign off on the dents being fixed at the old home. I said okay well we still have to fix them but I wasn't going to argue so I said that's fine Jeff just tell me when you will fix the dents in the new house, he said very nonchalantly when they were available and he didn't know when, then he began raising his voice and yelling at me speaking like he was speaking to someone on the streets. He turned into a different person and told me that "he knew we would have problems with each other." I asked why and he said because we are both Black?? I said really what does that have to do with anything, he replied because that what black people do, they don't get along with each other! I couldn't believe it, here is a black man, degrading blacks people and he then starts over talking me and yelling more and then hangs up on me and calls back cursing. My assistant heard the whole conversation and we were in disbelief. I had already referred friends to this company but now would never let them use him, I am fearful of his temper and don't want anyone else to experience this treatment. It's unfortunate that people in business don't know how to speak to customers even when things don't go as expected, he was ready for a confrontation no matter what and I was just following up on what he promised. As a family and business owner for over 20 years In all of our moves across various states, I have never had this type of interaction with a professional moving company..stay away from Jeff Star Movers! read more

I posted for movers on Thumbtack app Saturday morning. Saturday this moving company responded to me and said they had availability all day Sunday and part of the day Monday (afternoon.) They requested a deposit to "get you on schedule." I paid the deposit at 9:15pm Saturday. Sunday at 8:05 am, I asked when we would be scheduled. 8:52am they said they didn't have a time yet, but it was on [for Monday] and it will be "later in the day." I did not hear anything for the rest of the day. I texted again at 7:45am the day of the supposed move asking for a time. They responded at 7:48a, "I will let you know as soon as I hear back from the team, when they get to their first job." At 12:19 in the AFTERNOON, I texted again asking if I could get a time or if I should find another option. They responded to me to "please be patient." I was very polite in our interactions, and this rude and dismissive text sent me over the edge. The company proceeded to call me, and BLAME ME over the phone that it was my fault I was not scheduled yet, and then additionally told me that they were moving a commercial property in the morning (a church) and it was taking longer than they thought. Then told me that they weren't going to give me a time because then (get this!) I would expect them to be there. BEWARE of these scammers. I should've known better when paying a deposit via venmo. I lost the deposit (actually I was so angry at being blamed for the terrible terrible service, I told them to cancel and keep it just to never speak to these people again), but I can only imagine how crappy their moving services are if they can't even schedule a paying customer a window of time when they'd be there. I ended up going with 2 Men and a Truck. More expensive, but legit and GET THIS, they gave me a window of time the second I paid the deposit! read more

Just recently we hired Jeff star mover for a 8 hour move. Let me tell you guys please stay away from this company!! He brought 3 guys with him and I had to stop them to tell them I did not want to proceed any further with my move. When I spoke with Jeff he spoke to me has he may have been irritated so trust me it wasn't the most pleasant conversation but I decided to give the young fella a try. He comes off as a professional but is very rude and has anger issues. Almost a hour during the move I asked them could we end cause the way things were being handled on the move. Back and forth bickering with his coworkers. An also animosity when talking to me. That's when I knew this must end now. So I decided to ask him to end the move. I payed him for a hour worth of labor. He yelled and shouted demanding he needs 50 percent of what he quoted me. After him yelling and screaming over the payment I told him I paid you for the hour you worked now im asking you to leave my property before I decide to call the police department. He insisted on staying saying he'll wait for them as he's yelling and threatening me. His we're telling him to lets just go but he says f#÷! That! Let him call! As I decided to call police he then grabbed his crew and proceeded to leave as he was still yelling and screaming. Very unprofessional business owner. Has a bad temper. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use his moving company. Totally bad experience. I moved in the past. Things could have been handled very differently despite his temper. This man is top-notch from the minute I first contacted him to the end of the move. His pre communication was stellar. He actually contacted me a couple of times prior to the move to make sure I was ready and it was still a go. He was extremely professional, was prompt and on time, and handled everything with extreme care. Not one item was damaged or misplaced and the service was performed in a timely manner. His pricing is extremely Fair for the top notch service he performs. I did research other companies prior to selecting Jeff and I know I could not have selected any better. I had a very bad experience with the owner last year when they moved my furniture. He charged extra money for the same amount of time because he "thought it was more time than it actually was". He argued with me as i was trying to tell him it wasn't more time and then told me to keep my money because "does it look like i need it". Very unprofessional. I hired Jeff to move a couch I had bought on eBay. Communication was good and pricing was fair. The actual moving process went well. They shrink wrapped the couch and moved it out and in quickly. They took care not to mess up the floors on a rainy day. The only problem was with timing. We agreed on 11:00 for them to pick up the couch at the seller's place, and then they let me know at 11:00 that they would arrive by 12:00 noon. This was inconvenient for the seller and also the person who gave me a ride. That said, Jeff was in constant communication, updating the ETA several times. He explained that he'd had a bigger job come up that morning and was very apologetic about the late arrival and appreciated my patience. I would recommend Jeffstar again, especially for a larger move. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. First they tried cancelling our appointment last minute and said I had never confirmed, which I had and even have a text thread as proof. Then after I had put in a complaint for missing our confirmed appointment they agreed to accommodate at another time. Once they arrived they were very under prepared, having not even brought a dolly. After leaving for over an hour and returning they failed at their attempt to accomplish our moving task. They were complaining the entire time and yelling at each other while trying to move our cabinets at which point we had decided they were underprepared and unfit to accomplish our moving task without either getting hurt or damaging our furniture, so we dismissed them. In addition they were very rude and had wanted us to pay a fee for moving the cabinets from our garage to our front door. We hired them to move the cabinets up some stairs. I've never experienced a company that would encourage any sort of payment for incomplete tasks. Additionally, I was sent screenshots of invoices that they were paid from previous clients as some sort of proof that they are in fact deserving of any sort of payment for an incomplete job. I would not recommend or hire them again. Very unprofessional. read more

BEWARE of Jeff Star Movers at all costs!!! If I could rate this company zero stars, I would. They did an awful job moving our furniture into a storage unit. They have ruined multiple pieces of furniture. We asked them to wrap all our furniture to ensure that it wouldn't get scratched up, yet most of the wrapping was ripped apart and falling off. Not only did this wrapping take a lot longer, meaning we needed to pay them extra, but it did not protect our furniture since they barely wrapped it. Our outdoor patio set looks like they moved it to the truck by pushing it against concrete. The top layer of the patio furniture is all scratched off. They have also scratched our expensive wooden table and put a crack on the side of it. This is just some of the damage done, which doesn't include various dings and dents to other items. Not only did our furniture get ruined, but they also continued to add different charges that were not previously explained, including a $90 charge for walking more than 15 steps and walking up one flight of stairs. When we uncovered the damage in the storage unit we called Jeff Star to let them know of the damage and no one answered or called us back. Once I finally reached them, they told me that they didn't do this and that we have no proof, as someone else could have ruined this furniture by taking it out of storage. We didn't pay a supposed professional company to ensure our furniture was moved properly, just to have it ruined. If you want to pay a lot of money to replace your furniture, then you should hire these crooks, but I seriously urge you to find an actual moving company who cares about their customers if you want to have nice furniture at the end of your move. read more

Jeff helped us clear out our family home last summer. My mother had recently downsized and we were ready to put the home on the market. Didn't know what we were doing with all the furniture so we hired Jeff to move it to storage. Jeff arrived on time, protected all the floors and started to dismantle the furniture. He managed to get some very heavy bedroom furniture down a narrow curved staircase without any scratches or damages. He was great to work with, flexible as our requirements changed and he texted throughout the weekend to make sure we were confirmed and ready. Would definitely use again. read more

They confirmed multiple times and called to let me know the morning of the move they were on the way. When the showed up, the movers themselves were very skinny but I found out they were strong, hardworking, and did a great job. I still had some heavy boxes that I had forgotten about and I contacted Jeff today to see if it was possible for to have them moved to my new place. Jeff and his team were very professional. Until they dropped a piece of furniture in front of me. My assistant and I hired them to move our small office. They took 10 hours to move 850 sqft. They took multiple breaks according to the building owner, and now I have to file a complaint with my lawyer. As Jeff has refused to pay for the damaged piece. He started yelling at me over the phone and insisted I take him to court, instead of just resolving the manner in a professional way. All of our items are still on the wrong floor, which is not his fault as the office floor was being sealed. He assured me that he would bring four guys back to move it to the proper floor, hence my bill $1,065.00. He is now saying he won't come back as that was for one job! I then asked him to remove $400 from the $1000 invoice for the broken large piece that I paid $1760 for as it is splitting now that it has been unwrapped. Jeff and his team quoted my office of a total of $510 on the phone. As a CEO, who has been in business for seven years, we always try to give back to young and upcoming entrepreneurs. However, he never wanted to resolve the manner. He decided to yell at me and say take him to court. Then he left us with a broken piece. In the end I just wanted it resolved in a professional manner. Now we have to hire new movers, figure out how to get our money back, without hurting a young entrepreneur like himself, and he still did not finish the job. Very unprofessional. read more
