It became clear that the owner, who provided the original quote, failed to communicate the true scope of the job to his own crew. As a result, the movers said they could not complete the services I had booked and left a deposit for. This left me in an impossible situation, as I was closing on the sale of my house the very next day. I was forced to scramble at the last minute to find another moving company under extreme stress. A moving company should be reliable, professional, and transparent--especially when people's homes and major life events are involved. I am a senior citizen, and I was very specific about the fact that I was recovering from a recent surgery and was not able to lift med/large heavy boxes placed (stacked) on top of one another once transported to my new residence. I also spoke at length with Jim's brother, Stewart, regarding packing materials snd number of boxes needed to pack remaining belongings in my home. I was also told that there were specific packing materials that would be sent to carefully wrap expensive large rugs that needed to be sent out to be professionally cleaned once the move took place. Four young, courteous men arrived on rime for moving day, but unfortunately, underestimated the time/men needed to completely move me from my home to my new residence, so plans were made to continue the move to the following day. Movers overall, were careful with my furniture and belongings, but are not properly trained to consider properly labelling boxes, so that when a bed is dismantled, for example, and put back together again, the bed can be quickly remade! Zero considerations for personal care products, clothing, personal computer, medications (used everyday) to be set aside so they can be found easily once moved. I am still looking for my houseplants that are sitting out in my garage, despite cold weather, because the boxes they were packed in are poorly marked. The plants should have been brought into the house, not left in the garage! The carpets that Stewart stated would be carefully attended to and wrapped securely never happened, after spending over $3,000 for a local move twenty minutes away. Disappointed at best.

I scheduled a move and Sarah accommodated my last minute scheduling. Sarah sent the POWER TEAM of Demetrius and Demetrio, whom I have affectionately nicknamed The DOUBLE D's (LOL). Demetrius and Demetrio arrived slightly early and ready to go to work! I had most of my things already packed in storage containers on wheels and few other things in boxes. Demetrius and Demetrio moved my items from the house to the deck off the backyard onto the truck and they were prepared with all the equipment necessary (ramps, bumper pads, etc) to make the move smooth, efficient and to prevent damage to my things. These two moved so quickly, I was amazed and couldn't pack my remaining things fast enough! They were willing to wait for me to pack or they offered to take my things as is but I had them take what was already packed. We met at my storage unit which on this day was surprisingly packed with people and other moving companies moving in. Demetrius and Demetrio engaged with the other movers and all were respectful to them during our move. Demetrius and Demetrio packed my unit as requested and they packed and stacked EVERYTHING SO VERY NEATLY and with care for my items. EVERYTHING was totally organized! Nothing could have gone any smoother than this move! The price value to book my last minute move was very good for me and I tipped them both as EVERYONE should do with professional movers such as these two. When I returned back to the house, it wasn't until the packed items had been moved that I realized how much MORE packing I still needed to do, so I text Sarah to schedule a FINAL move for 2 days later and I specifically requested Demetrius and Demetrio (The Double D's). Even on such short notice, Sarah made it happen and scheduled me. Again, Demetrius and Demetrio showed up on time even during a rain storm with high winds...ready to work and help me move all my things out. Again, they both setup my items in the house to move quickly during this rain storm and by the time they finished setup, the storm stopped and they moved everything out. I shed tears of HAPPINESS at how clean and empty it was in there when they were done. After they moved those items into storage, I again tipped them both because they were worth it! I asked him for some addresses of work he had done, and not just recent work either. He gave me about 10 houses all in a neighborhood near Catalpa and Woodward, ranging in age from 2006 on up. Each of their driveways still looked great! I had two other companies give us estimates. While both were slightly less than MitchCo's, both people showed up late for the estimate, looked sloppy, rushed through explaining things, and couldn't provide me with examples of their work. You get what you pay for and with MitchCo it was professional, thorough, quality work.

Long story short- they save it until the end, do not take the doors off, do not take the bannister off the wall, damage my walls, the cabinet is stuck at the bottom of the stairs and they wanted to be paid (cash only! another thing they didn't tell me up front) with the promise someone else would come back and move the cabinet a couple hours later. Only by withholding payment did I get the cabinet removed (they had to take the bannister off and doors to accomplish). Other furniture of mine they moved had some damage. I gave them the opportunity to fix the wall damage or make arrangements with the new buyers to have fixed and I got ghosted and stuck giving up some of my security deposit to cover. Cordell and the other companies contacted me through the Yelp app. Lightning Movers ended up being the winning team with their competitive pricing and flexible schedule! Cordell has excellent communication skills with keeping updated on times and scheduling. We had a couple of scheduling conflicts but Cordell made sure to keep me informed about everything that would affect my move. He even went above and beyond by going to the Troy location and FaceTimed me to make sure that he grabbed everything that I needed without me having to drive all the way to the site! He had an additional helper (forgive me because his name escapes me currently) and they both were so respectful , friendly and courteous!
