They also have an employee that talks to you when you enter to make sure you go to the correct line. I like that because it helps prevent people from waiting in the wrong line and wasting their time. The employees I've encountered over the last few years have all been pleasant and helpful. My only issue is I still feel they need to have more windows opened, but the lines seem to move a bit faster than in years past.

I was told they could not accept the POA because my father is not an Alabama resident, which completely defeats the purpose of having a POA in the first place. What makes this even more frustrating is that I went to the main Revenue Office at the Birmingham Courthouse afterward, and they had no issue whatsoever accepting the exact same POA and were able to register my vehicle without a problem. The Hoover office was not willing to help find a solution or provide any useful guidance. It was an unnecessarily frustrating experience and a huge waste of time. If you are dealing with a registration involving a POA, I would recommend going to the Birmingham Courthouse instead.

For the number of people waiting, this was fast to me. I had a great DMV experience! The Pelham location was worth the wait. There were 3 men who treated me and others with respect. For some reason, he couldn't get my passport to validate, but I had brought additional documentation just in case. I'm glad I did that. I highly suggest scheduling an appointment instead of walking in. I saw multiple turned away because they were full for the day in regards to walk-ins. If you have an appointment and your proper documentation, it should be an easy task.

This is one of America's most reliable institutions. You can always count on them to get the job…read moredone. They prefer appointments, but if you've got some time to kill you're free to take a number and wait to be called to the back. The office is clean and tidy and the people are remarkably friendly. The place is secure, and you know this because everyone has to pass through a metal detector on the way in. There are no food, drinks, or weapons allowed. If you like things like paved roads, street lights, fire departments, police stations, sports teams, public schools, war, and research grants, then you gotta know that all that stuff gets paid for by taxes which the IRS dutifully collects on your behalf so that these things can be funded. If it wasn't for them, then the poor would have to rely entirely on charity...and I think we know how that would go. If you find yourself in the position of just not knowing what to do with a big chunk of the proceeds of your short term capital gains, they'll take care of that for you no problem at all. So thanks IRS for doing what you can to fund the American Dream. I would say keep on keeping on, but I already know that you're going to anyway.

Online it says that passport service is available from 9:30-11 (on Saturday), but when we got there on time, this was not the case. Q, the representative up front told us he was working up front by himself until 10ish, and that the hours were extended until noon because of that. In other words, we would have to wait. We were annoyed at the inconvenience since we drove out of the way, but were understanding so we asked if he could give us a call when his colleague was available. He agreed. We went across the street for breakfast and Q eventually called us back. We arrived and Q took great care of us. He was very professional and thorough, which we appreciated. He apologized for the inconvenience and made sure to answer any of our questions. Shout out to Q for grade A service!

The children's area is lacking in the activity / resource area, especially in comparison to the Hoover Public Library. Lots and lots of books in great condition though! So if you're looking for a library to double as a learning space for children, this might not be the one for you. 3-star rating for "okay" or "average" because there are better branches in the area. However, this is a solid choice if you're nearby.
